Peter said to Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and *said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” When they got into the boat, the wind stopped.

MATTHEW 14:28‭-‬32

If we needed too and were abiding in the Holy Spirit, could we walk on water like Christ did? Like Peter?

It is thought provoking to wonder how much we limit God's power in us by doubting and unbelief. It a bit takes me back to think I could walk on water...I don't even know honestly if I would have enough humility to do that. I have to make sure my heart is in the right place when I am singing since I can be a ham at times. But do you

1) believe in miracles where someone else could do something like this? In what circumstances?

2) Do you believe you could do this?

3) Do you believe in instant/divine healing that it is possible.

As for me, wow. I don't know honestly. The pastor was talking about this tonight that sometimes we have to take a step out of the boat in faith when it comes to following God's will. And then he talked about how we could walk on water like this, that it wasnt just because Jesus was the Son of God that He could walk on water. I don't know. It is thought provoking. He asked us if we would step out of the boat (it was a discussion). I said I honestly would want to know how to swim first, which I do. Lol.

Id just like to look up more scriptures on this. I know the disciples did a lot of miracles and Christ said some would do even greater miracles then Him. I think about Jesus miracles and wonder if I would ever see a miracle like that in my lifetime, much the less doing something like that. Jesus saved my spirit from Hell. If I can trust Him with that, I should be able to trust Him with anything else.
Hi Mayflower, and how are you all? looking at the above, I would say that all things are possible to them that believe as far as the scriptures, but this particular event and the question you asked is rather to that event that happened just at that time as follow:

Jesus Walks on Water - Bible Story Summary

Now you asked the question, Can We Walk on Water Too? like Jesus? and Peter? After reading all the above, I would say from my study and personal faith walk with Christ, that all things are possible to them that believe in that same event, it would cause me to get closer to my Lord Jesus, what do you say, or you all?

Quote @CharismaticLady: It didn't bother Him, and we need to be content in whatever our situation.

Nooooooooooo. We can be content when Jesus is on earth still as a man; but now that HE's left, we gotta sail and bail:

Luke 22:35 & 36

You're missing the difference in situations. For instance, me and tornadoes. If I'm in the house that God divinely intervened and pulled supernatural "strings" to give me, then I go to bed. I'm safe. If I were out somewhere in someone else's house or department store, I would take common sense precautions.

I don't want to share on their behalf, but I think it is here somewhere on the forums. It would be easy to glance over as walking on water wasn't explicitly stated and it wasn't the subject of the post.

This may not be the best place for it to be shared anyways.

If the "POSTING" history had been FIXED...it would be helpful in finding posts of our own and of others.

Sorry to have mentioned this to you three time now. ;)
It frustrates me every day, I never realized just how much I used it.

Blessings...

Exactly right, -- should --, but it often isn't:

1 Cor. 14:29 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others weigh what is said.

If we judge the prophets, then more so the evangelists, pastors, & teachers! :)

Don't believe ANYTHING you hear. Check for YOURSELF!
Bobby Jo
Don't believe everything I hear?
If I don't like a church, I leave it.
Too many men come up with their own version of N.T. doctrine.
Jesus made clear what He taught....that's what I want to hear.
Of course, no church is perfect, but you can't be filtering while listening.
Doesn't work well -- just find another one.

This reminds me of being 13 months unemployed some time ago, having just had bought a car, and needing to make those payments on top of everything else. we totally believed that God gave us that car. So I knew my bills would be paid (except for that one day  ) because car payment comes AFTER food and rent and utilities and all that. And what do you know . . . we continued as we were . . . and by the time I was working again, we'd used up all known resources, and had our last $100 in the bank when I got my first paycheck.

God has ways to increase our faith.

Much love!

And this description, to me, simply represents the leading from the Holy Spirit, as we know inside how to respond to whatever situations may present themselves, not always according to one formula.

I would count on those common sense precautions, when taken as faith in God of what we should do, I look for that to be the Holy Spirit guiding.

Another point of faith . . . wisdom.

James 1 . . . anyone can ask God for wisdom, and God gives it, every time. Every single time. One caveat. If you believe.

What does it feel like to receive wisdom? Sometimes I think I know, James has a good description a little later of the wisdom from above. But when I ask God for wisdom, I then assume that whatever has to be decided or understood or whatever, God has given it to me.

And proceed accordingly. It comes to just making my best choice, and assume it's from God. Or sometimes, amazing vistas open in the mind.

And in this we are always safe, trusting Jesus.

Much love!

This has been a good forum week!

Many times it will come as I'm writing. But I remember when I was writing my book and God was teaching me all about the subject I was writing. I would go to bed thinking about all the scriptures on the subject, and then come to a difficult part and think, well, if that is true, then what about this? Early the next morning as I was just becoming awake before I had even opened my eyes, the answer would come like an epiphany.

Ummmmm, if no church is perfect, I don't think I'll just find another one -- which also won't be perfect! ;)

So I do have to "filter while listening", the same as when I watch the NEWS! :)

With MANY BLESSINGS!

This reminds me of being 13 months unemployed ...

Some years ago my job was being eliminated and I had 30 days to find a new position. I had an interview on day 30, and they offered me a position on a Friday at 4:30, when Human Resources closed at 5:00. The "Group" offering me the job got the paperwork submitted before 5. :)

With Many Blessing to You,
Bobby Jo

We can not walk on the water because we are not the Holy Spirit, Jesus could walk on the water because he is the Holy Spirit.
We are not the Holy Spirit, but if one abides in Jesus Christ totally then that's him carrying you in a way, because you are abiding totally In him and once you take your focus off him you will fail. you can do nothing without him.

The same Holy Spirit abides in us as well! The same power that raised Jesus from the dead!
