The work of those like the Reformers have laid the safety net to keep us from going off the deep end.

That's called HERESY, by the way.
When you make up something the Bible clearly doesn't say, and then hold to it simply because you refuse to allow yourself to be corrected by others.

1.) I was unaware that I had my own forum!

2.) None of the Pharisees agreed with Jesus either... And they too insisted their works could save them; HMMMM!!

3.) Verses the state man's Spiritual Deadness:
~ Genesis 2:16-17
~ Romans 5:12
~ Ephesians 2:1-3
~ Colossians 2:13
Did I say YOU owned the forum?
This is the problem with you....
you read what is not there.
This is MY forum...
The other forum is YOUR forum...
neither one of us owns the forum..do we?

Here we go with your verses:

Genesis 2:16-17
16The LORD God commanded the man, saying, “From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; 17but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.”

Adam and Eve died a spiritual death.
Was it permanent?

See Genesis 4:1
1Now the man had relations with his wife Eve, and she conceived and gave birth to Cain, and she said, “I have gotten a manchild with the help of the LORD.”

Genesis states that Eve had the child with the help of the LORD.
It would seem that though they lost their PRETERNATURAL GIFTS,
they still had a relationship with God.

Also, please note Genesis 4:15
God tells Cain no one will be allowed to draw blood from him.

Same as today.
God wants a relationship with ALL of His creation (us).
He is NOT a respector of persons....
Romans 2:11 THERE IS NO PARTIALITY WITH GOD

But God desires all men to be saved.
2 Peter 3:9
9The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

Romans 5:12

12Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned—

Yes, all men born are spiritually dead.
Thanks God for our Savior Jesus, who draws all men to Himself.
John 12:32
32“And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.”

And please note
Romans 5:18-21
18So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men.
19For as through the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous.
20The Law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more,
21so that, as sin reigned in death, even so grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

As you can plainly see, thru Adam all men are born spiritually dead-
but thru one act of righteousness (Jesus') there resulted justification of life to the many --- offered to ALL MEN -- and given if the conditions of God are met BY ANYONE.
John 3:16
16“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

Ephesians 2:1-3

How does this work to YOUR benefit??

Colossians 2:13
11and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ;
12having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.
13When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions,
14having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

Agreed. We were buried in Christ in Baptism and raised to Life IN HIM.
When we were dead in our transgression...
every man is born with the sin nature...
God forgave us our sins by believing in Jesus.
See Romans 5 again.

BTW, IF God chooses whom will be saved...
WHY did Jesus have to die?
Of what purpose was it?
If not to allow persons to choose to be saved IN HIM as is written in the entire N.T.

See John 15:5-6

Depends on the forum.

I was a member one forum that only existed to gossip about people on other forums. They censored out disagreeing voices - including mine, which was good because it turned out to be a secret or "private" forum (something I believe a sin). I'm still a member of another that discusses theology (mostly Calvinistic theology) without the gossip. Neither were very interesting, so I missed out the partying forums.

But I enjoy picturing a Calvinistic party, sipping wine under a disco ball and swaying gently to "Harshly and Angrily, Jesus Is Coming".

Yeah. Nice cold sparkling wine with this heat wave we've been having over here.
And they told me I didn't need AC! Thankfully, I follow my own road and hubby and I have been nice and cool.

I do wonder now which one it was.
It seemed to be a forum of Christ.
But it turned out to be a forum of Calvin.
Man, I didn't last on there two days!
And I try to be nice too.

Hey Homer...
YOU'RE the one that needs correcting.

I don't think God will be too happy with how you portray Him.
And you want to give Him all the glory!
LOL

How about getting serious and answering my post.

God doesn't think you're funny.
And neither do I.

YOU are NOT about scripture.

Just because YOU claim how you understand it..
DOES NOT MAKE IT SO.

Romans 1:19-20
HAD ENOUGH ALREADY??

Care to try:

1 Timothy 2:3-6a
3This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
4who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
5For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, theman Christ Jesus,
6who gave Himself as a ransom for all,

I remember that episode (the real one...not that they were all that different).

The issue is most Christians are neither. Arminianism is of a Calvinistic trajectory (they view salvation along the same lines). Consider the Classic Lutheran. He'd affirm the five points but fall far short of affirming them in the same way. The Open Theist is to Arminianism what Arminianism is to Calvinism. There are many examples (it us not as cut and dry as many may suppose).

But I like ole Fred.

Anthony,,,
I responded to Romans 1 TWO TIMES.
How about moving to a different verse?

My last question re Romans 1 was TO YOU.
I asked you How it could be that Romans 1 was referring to
how all men could be without excuse IF God did not reveal Himself to ALL MEN.

I mean....HOW UNFAIR is your god anyway?

You could keep trying to talk about Romans 1....
Answer me. HOW are all men without excuse
UNLESS ALL MEN were given a chance by God revealing Himself?

vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv

I guess that's easier than

1 Timothy 2:3-6
3This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
4who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
5For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
6who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time.

Come on go for Timothy.
Let's see how good you are at exegeting verses.

Or rather, it's simply having a different view of things. A view may be wrong or right, but no one's is saved by their ability to pass a theology test.

We test doctrine by the standard of Scripture. We test people by the standard of their fruit. In other words, on both accounts the Standard is Christ.

The “fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control" (Galatians 5:22-23). Apart from these evidences we deal with people as if they are “spiritually dead”.

To borrow from Calvinistic terminology (not really from Scripture’s use of the word), a “dead” person may hold correct theology. It is not theology or religion but God who saves.

My point is that before you consider the words of someone look at the testimony of their conduct. If the fruit looks good then test the doctrine. If the fruit is bad then the source cannot discern spiritual aspects of the “truth” they would hold in the first place.

But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these. 2 Timothy 3:1-5
