I don't don't like your word touted . Mentioned yes, touted no.
PLUS...I do not fit in any box, I do not claim any denomination...neither if I look up Universalism ...do I agree with what it says about their beliefs..

I do believe Acts 3:21
" Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began."

But this not not what this thread is all about...so I will not discuss it here.
( See you in the PM. )
For the sake of those who would read the verse you gave, and perhaps think of Universalism as a reality, I feel compelled to mention, in passing, Matthew 13:41-42, Matthew 13:49-50, and Matthew 25:46.

These verses would appear to me to refute the idea of Universalism.

But so that we don't derail the thread, I have brought up the same verses in our PM discussion.

We had a flat on this 70 mile stretch of road known as Alligator Alley. No wrench to fit the trailer wheel, no one stopped for over an hour, and it was getting dark.
Along came an old black man in a beat up Oldsmobile that would hardly chug along at 30 mph. He had a trunk full of wrenches and gave me one to use. I changed the tire, gave him back his wrench, and he drove on.
We left no more than a minute later, but despite doing 70, we never even saw his car. This entire area is flat swamp and you can see for 20 miles. There was not an access road for 35 miles, but we never even saw the ANGEL who stopped to help us.

Amen. Great testimony.

We met a man when we were still in England who was told by the Lord to go to the airport and he would be told where to go. He went there and sat on a seat. A "man" came , sat next to him...opened a newspaper, one of those big full page ones. Written across the page was a city , a name, and an address. Then he folded the paper, put it under his arm and walked off. Neither of them had spoken a word. He didn't know if he was another follower of the Lord being faithfully led by the Spirit...or if it was an angelic being...he felt that it was the latter. Whichever...it was miraculous.

This man went to that address...the person who was named was there and there said -" I been praying that God would send me someone to help me. "

He led this man to the Lord and spent time answering all his questions.

Yes, angels unawares...

Heb 13:2

"Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares."

I have experienced a couple of similar incidents while driving. I once drove for about 30 miles on an empty gas tank and got home safely (I had failed to check the fuel gauge to begin with). And once we were in a snow filled ditch in the middle of winter with our kids and got out of it supernaturally. The vehicle had simply skidded into the ditch but we were safely out within minutes. There must have been an invisible angel there to assist.

So back when I was 21, I hit a very low point and was going to take my life. I was driving down the road when my pastor saw me driving and chased me until I pulled over. He had me come to the church...it was just really a God moment. Very life altering. This pastor walked me down the aisle as my father for my wedding day four years ago, and I just got to see them in Colorado this week. There wasnt a lot of reception where they lived, so wasnt on much. But yes...God is amazing!!!

I tried suicide a few times in my late teens. A couple of them you could argue that I had just botched it, but one of those times was a 4X lethal dose of pills, yet God preserved my life. I wasn't born again at the time . . .

Predestination in action!

Much love!

Great thread!

One time we went to our church's conference center in the mountains. My sister was driving. We stayed the whole day, and didn't leave until after dark. But by then, a cloud had settled on the mountain, and we couldn't see a thing. We started to drive, but had to pull over. We were sitting there, didn't know what to do, and we were just praying.

About 50 feet ahead of us, a car pulled over with amazing fog lights, lit the whole road! They stopped there, idling.

We suspected deliverance. She started the car, and slowly rolled forward. The other car slowly reentered the roadway, us following closely behind.

We drove off that mountain, and were so excited, none of us really noticed when we stopped seeing that car after we got below the clouds, just that we were in the clear, and that car was no where to be seen.

I love God!

It was when I was a carer, but as a housekeeper it's different. That is not what is making me tired on the inside, that's what makes me physically tired xx
Rita xx
I don't know what's worse; excessive physical tiredness or stress. ("Jesus, being wearing with the journey, sat thus on the well...")

We are all human and a whole mixture of things can add to tiredness, whether it's physical, emotional or mental -sometimes it is all three ( depending on what going on )
Sometimes you do just have to ' sit ' and rest, but sometimes you cannot just choose to do that because of the circumstances, think of those who are carers 24/7 to a disabled child, or a relative with demencia ect.
Life has its demands, and each of us have demands that can only be really understood by the Lord himself because he is the only one that sees and knows everything.

Amen, there; the Lord knows. "My strength is made perfect in weakness".

PS: I think with the rise of women's education in the late 19th / early 20th century it's moral strength that has been enhanced, and not just a male-centred machismo strength. If that makes sense.

Hmm that's an interesting line of thought Farouk - have to ponder that one. ( could make an interesting discussion or essay question ' what has the rise of women's education enhanced within society ' !! )

I remember reading that the 19th century preacher C H Spurgeon said that the lack - at that time - of suitable employment for women was a great social evil.

(Included in the whole area of suitable employment would be training for it and education.)
