St. Teresa of Avila’s demonic experience that proved the power of Holy Water
...In Chapter 31, she tells of a time that she was harassed by a demon:

“Out of his body there seemed to be coming a great flame, which was intensely bright and cast no shadow. He told me in a horrible way that I had indeed escaped out of his hands but he would get hold of me still.”

Frightened, she tried to shoo him away with the Sign of the Cross. The demon left her, but soon returned. This happened several times, until she noticed she had some holy water nearby. “So I flung some in the direction of the apparition,” she wrote, “and it never came back.”

Another time, she wrote, “the devil was with me for five hours, torturing me with such terrible pains and both inward and outward disquiet that I do not believe I could have endured them any longer. The sisters who were with me were frightened to death and had no more idea of what to do for me than I had of how to help myself.” She only found relief after she requested holy water and threw some to the place where she saw a demon nearby..."

St. Teresa of Avila’s demonic experience that proved the power of...

Episkopos, do you recommend holy water like Teresa??? This is Catholic nonsense, and you should not not even be talking about Teresa of Avila.

Ah here come the gate keepers of the Protestant tribe checking papers and ID

Teresa was a Catholic mystic, and Mysticism is not compatible with Bible Christianity. She was a committed Catholic and also engaged in levitation. Beware of Mysticism.
She engaged in levitation?
Some legends grew around saints...this is true even of the saint of my town (every town in Italy has a patron saint)....But the legends were not all true.

A silly one about St. Francis speaking to a wolf that was harming the town's animals.
St. Theresa reached a spiritual height none of us here will.

Religious bigotry. And false.

You make 'bigotry' sound like a dirty word. Bigotry is merely employing God-given discernment, the ability to separate good from evil, to separate the couth from the uncouth. And if rejecting the pagan practice of worshipping idols is bigotry, then I it is an honour to be designated a bigot!

I am not prepared to engage in the demonic activities practiced by popes et al, kneeling to a pagan goddess, nor praying to fake saints, Romes way of maintaining pagan polytheism, by praying to dead people. which is also forbidden to Christians, as declared in Deut 18:9:

"When you enter the land which the Lord your God gives you, you shall not learn to imitate the detestable things of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone . . who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For whoever does these things is DETESTABLE TO THE Lord; and because of these detestable things the Lord your God will drive them out before you. You shall be blameless before the Lord your God. For those nations, which you shall dispossess, listen to those who practice witchcraft and to diviners, but as for you, the Lord your God has not allowed you to do so." Deut 18:9.

Your choice is entirely between you and your god.

Hey, me neither!
Of course, your description of Catholicism is absurd so we can all breath a sigh of relief about that....it sure sounds awful!

My favourite saint is St. Joan of Arch. The Roman Catholic Church burned her at the stake because she was so evil that whe was worthy of death; and a year later declared that she was a Saint!! The cult of Rome! What a bunch of infallible nutcases!

Hey, me neither!
Of course, your description of Catholicism is absurd so we can all breath a sigh of relief about that....it sure sounds awful!

I spent three years studying Romanism, 12 hours a day, and what I encountered was a Satanic system beyond belief.

It all started when my son was finishing his undergraduate degree. He was planning on getting married to a Roman Catholic upon graduation. But he had been brought up with a high regard for what God had to say. So, he wrote me, "Dad, I am am too busy with my year-end to check this out, but could you research Roman Catholicism for me?"

I had no idea what Romanism was all about, and had even attended church services with them at the local Roman Catholic church. I month later, I presented him with a 100 page summary of my findings. He honoured God more than his romantic passion, and fled the scene. God honoured his difficult decision by presenting him with one of the most awesome beings I have ever met. She was a doctor with multiple PhD designations, and as a respected author, is highly regarded within the academic community.m Her love for God is also well known within the religious community.

Having been hooked into the study of Romanism, I spent the next three years studying this hideous entity. I finally had to give it up. Their horrendous history of murdering Christians by the millions, left me with nightmares even two months after I had finished my study.

Of course, Satan's little servants declare my knowledge of Romanism as being "absurd". In all fairness what else would their master demand that they say, from the father of lies from the very beginning!!

So you were biased from the start...at least you are transparent about that.
Not a fan of your son’s first choice? Perhaps you believed she was stealing him away
PhDs do not impress me, the doctor I married didn’t even know if she liked men

You certainly demonstrate a well trodden path of compartmentalization - Catholics were responsible for all Christian atrocities so that Protestants can carry forth with a clean conscious - kind of a twisted sort of confession, without taking any responsibility, I suppose.

Yes, I studied Catholicism in depth for about two years, before joining RCIA at the age of 30. It was good to learn that Jesus was born, ministered, died, and was resurrected AND was followed by 1500 hundred years of Christianity I was never taught, before Luther.

Chasing Purity at the expense of reality is an illusion. It is a dodge; a scam. We are all human and in need of a Savior. You and I are not better or less likely to engage in the Crusades, the Inquisition, or deal out torture to heretics given the time and circumstances. Please get off your high horse and just start loving others - this is what Christianity is

No, quite the opposite as I have stated. I was in no way biased. I thought she was a rather delightful choice.

aspen says >> "PhDs do not impress me, the doctor I married didn’t even know if she liked men"

No big deal. I live in a family where each have multiple university degrees! For a doctor to go the whole nine yards to a Phd, is just family culture around here.

Yeah, and then came the printing press making the Bible available to everyone. The Roman Catholic Church had such a
Satanic hatred for those who translated the Bible, that they burned then all at stake for exposing Romanism for the Satanic cult it was. Their hatred was so intense, that when they couldn't manage to kidnap John Wycliffe to burn him at the stake, they dug up his body 30 years after he died, and burned it at the stake, as their master would demand. There is not really much difference between the god of Romanisn and allah! But by their fruit, it is rather evident. They share the same unGodly ethic and spirit.

I have no idea as to what I may have done during the Crusades or the Inquitision. But as for "loving others", I believe that presenting Truth, is an essential part of that.

I have two advanced degrees and if I wasn’t a life long learner, they would not mean much.

I recognize that Christianity has a sorted past regarding attempts to stamp out heresy. The printing press was a path to wide spread literacy, which was unknown during the Middle Ages; however it also introduced a method of spreading heresy without restraint. Christianity did not respond well. We still have the problem today, without solution.

Elizabeth I, Calvin, and Zwingli all committed atrocities in the name of Christ. Protestant Christianity has continued the tradition, using colonialism and slavery, and consumerism, and radical individualism, all in Christ’s name.

We are all guilty and in need of a Savior.

I am reminded of when Teresa was describing some person who she thought was devoted, but once she got to know them she saw they were very caught up in a high opinion of themselves. Of them, she said something like...they frighten me more than any sinner I have ever met.

Really? What did you study? Where did you start? With Polycarp, Ignatius and Iraeneus? Justin Martyr perhaps? How bout Augustine, Dominic or Francis?
Mayve Thomas Aquinas?
The catechism and or encyclicals from the last hundred years or so?

I have barely brushed the surface of these things but perhaps you can point me to sone Catholic teaching or teacher that is 'satanic beyond belief'

Peace be with you!

It is impossible for anyone who loves God and desires to be closer to Him to read Teresa and come away with the thought that she is evil. In fact, it would be absurd. One walks away from her writings strengthened and built up in trust.

The word mystic isn't evil. It is simply someone to whom God has given many graces and then the further grace to even be able to explain the graces they've received.

She engaged in levitation?
Yes. Probably could not help it. And levitation and demonic influence go hand in hand.

Also, her primary objective in life was to undermine the Protestant Reformation and promote the Counter-Reformation.

"The Spanish religious reformer Teresa de Ávila (Teresa of Jesus; 1515–1582) was an important figure in the Catholic Reformation (also called the Counter Reformation), a reform movement within the Roman Catholic Church that took place in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries..."

Teresa de Ávila | Encyclopedia.com

Why was there a Counter Reformation? Because the RCC did not wish to give up any of its erroneous teachings (including that on holy water).

Phillip James attacks>> Really? What did you study? Where did you start? With Polycarp, Ignatius and Iraeneus? Justin Martyr perhaps?

Well, Phillip James, obviously, I have studied MUCH more than you!! I have studied all of the above-mentioned. As I said, I was engaged in serious study of Romanism. To that end I considered it appropriate to learn the teachings of the Early Church Fathers. My study texts included not only the Ante-Nicean Early Church Fathers, but also the The Nicene and Post Nicean Fathers. I have all 38 volumes of the Church Fathers, which were obtained at a cost of many thousands of $$$

Phillip James attacks>> How bout Augustine, Dominic or Francis?

Yes I have studied the unBiblical rantings of Augustine who came up with the idea of original sin, which was formulated into the Roman Church by Jerome, who declared that all infants who died before being baptized would never enter Heaven, and thus the beginning of the Roman apostasy. Just more Satanic, God-hating nonsense!

Phillip James attacks>> Maybe Thomas Aquinas?

Yeah, Aquinas was the Romanist demon who declared that those who did not bow to Rome, deserved to be separated from this life be sword or fire, and thus began Satan's agenda to kill millions of Christians!!

Phillip James attacks>> The catechism and or encyclicals from the last hundred years or so?

Yes, I seem to recall that whoever was the papal puppet in Rome, that in 1950, finally discovered that their goddess Mary/Queen of Heaven never died, but was taken up into Heaven. On the other side as has been known for thousands of years, Mary died at age 65, in Ephesus, and buried at the 'Church of Mary', where one of the ensuing councils took place.

Phillip James attacks>> "I have barely brushed the surface of these things but perhaps you can point me to sone Catholic teaching or teacher that is 'satanic beyond belief'"

So far, you have said absolutely nothing!! And don't drag the term 'Catholic' into the mud, i.e. the universal Church of Christ, when you are referring to the **Roman** Catholic (so called), the antithesis of Catholic, which emerged as a cult in AD 1049!
