I always wonder why so few people think of what happened at Mount Sinai when the trumped waxed louder and louder and Moses went up into a cloud.

Did Moses go up a physical mountain or a spiritual mountain? The Torah says Israel was "under" the mountain -- not "beside" but "under."

Deuteronomy 4:11 And ye came near and stood under the mountain; and the mountain burned with fire unto the midst of heaven, with darkness, clouds, and thick darkness.

The seventy elders went up part of the way; and the Jews say that what they saw wasn't exactly right. While gifted with more prophetic sight than most of Israel, they were still not seeing entirely correctly. Joshua went up higher than they did, but only Moses went all the way up into the "cloud."
I think that was a spiritual mountain. Moses was caught up and he was surely changed. I read the story about Mount Moriah as a spiritual mountain too. No "trumpet" is mentioned and no "cloud" but there is still reason to think it wasn't a physical mountain. The two young men with Abraham and Isaac did not go up the mountain. I don't they could have if they had tried. The ram they met? The Jews say this ram existed before Eden was fashioned. I believe that.

Rapture or no rapture, now is the time to be ready for this is the day that the Lord hath. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Stop worrying about the tomorrow that may never come for YOU or for ME.

So very very true ... the wisdom of the silver haired. :)

Huh? Well it's already happened! I have been raptured! I'm waiting for you to join me!

Quit looking to the sky!

2Th 2:1, Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2Th 2:2, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
2Th 2:3, Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
2Th 2:4, Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

That there will be a rapture is evident from the following scripture:

1Th 4:13, But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
1Th 4:14, For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
1Th 4:15, For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
1Th 4:16, For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
1Th 4:17, Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
1Th 4:18, Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

You are forgetting what it says in 1 John 3:2-3.

In placing my expectation and hope in the coming rapture, I purify myself even as He is pure.

I daresay some here may have already heard that last trump and entered into heavenly places to be forever with the Lord. Their human halves may be slow to understand it.

Ephesians 2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

That is literally true spiritually for some saints and will be for others too.

Another thing to understand about that trump is that saints and sinners do not hear it the same way. Sinners hear it as threatening them, the way Israel did at Sinai. Saints hear it as profoundly peaceful and quiet.

Luk 21:28, And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

It was above them, and loomed over them. Sometimes we use figures of speech in communicating things.
You will probably see the mountain in the Transfiguration as physical too then. There again we find only a select few went up. Nine disciples got left below. There was a cloud there too.

Some may see the mountain in Mark as physical too.

Luke 4:5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

Where could such a mountain be?

The one in Luke 4:5 may indeed be a spiritual mountain.

But the one that Moses and the Israelites encountered was Mount Horeb, or Mount Sinai; and it is a physical mountain on the face of the earth.

Each person will have to decide for himself, of course, which is meant; but often there are things on the earth that correspond to things in Heaven. As time goes by and the kingdom makes progress, the earthly comes closer and closer to being like the Heavenly. Thus we pray, "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven." There is the earthy Jerusalem today; and then there is the City coming down from Heaven, the "new Jerusalem."

Some day the earth will be perfectly conformed to Heaven.
