Pastor Murray Wants Us To THINK!Pastor Murray “Proposes” ideas consistently. That’s how he learned, he used his brain to think and evaluate. He uses the words “Imagine if you will” to present a concept. The very word “Creation” is bonded with “Creativity”. Pastor Murray has stated over and over that we are to “Think About It!” when he teaches, and then states for us to do our homework and check it out. He states not to listen to “Traditions of man” or follow anyone blindly as a sheep does. Research and form opinions based on the Word of God through His Scriptures. Many of the following terms have been used in conjunction with this concept.supposition noun 1. A judgment, estimate, or opinion arrived at by guessing: conjecture, guess, guesswork, speculation, surmise. See OPINION OpinionBELIEF LIKELY PERSPECTIVE REASON THOUGHTS 2. Something taken to be true without proof: assumption, postulate, postulation, premise, presupposition, theory, thesis. See REASON REASON/UNREASON reason noun argument (2) assumption calculation deduction logic (2) reason (3) sense He never implies that creative thinking should be stifled to the point of discouraging others to have an opinion. He supports just the opposite. Controlling what people think is not Scriptural. It is the very definition of Democracy that allows us to all have freedom to think and discuss. It would be sad to limit the exchange of information and blessings of wisdom that have been given from God to be presented by His Children. A positive experience should be easily accomplished and with the understanding that all members are students and upholders of the Shepherd’s Chapel Doctrine. The following are just a few excerpts from Pastor Murray’s Letters and are his statements encouraging us to THINK.Pastor Murray:This is that locust army God warns of in Joel 1:6. God's truth issometimes overlooked because He requires a little work on your part. The lazy person may simply skip over a passage such as this onebecause it may require a little homework to understand. (Think)Let's dig a little deeper. (Deeper thinking)And the LORDsaid unto me, Amos, what seest thou? (God wants us to think)God uses many analogies to characterize people in His Word. He oftenuses the nature of the ants and the grasshoppers to set an exampleof the types of people there are, especially in the end times. (To understand analogies, one must be able to have a creative thinking process)There is wisdom to be gleaned from these examples so let's begin in Proverbs. (Think this through)I AM GOING TO TAKE YOU INTO A LITTLE DEEPER LOOK PERHAPS AT WHAT HAPPENS IN CONJUNCTION THEREWITH. (Deeper thinking)NOW AGAIN, I HAVE TO REMIND YOU…WHAT IS IN YOUR FOREHEAD? WHAT IS IN YOUR FOREHEAD IS NATURALLY THE GREY MATTER. IT’S YOUR BRAIN. THE TRUTH SEALED IN IT, NATURALLY THE SIMPLICITY OF IT IS , IT FENDS OFF ALL LIES, THINGS THAT GO CONTRARY TO COMMON SENSE, AND IT GIVES YOU A SPIRIT OF DISCERNMENT, WHEREBY YOU CAN TURN ON GOOD AND TURN OFF NONSENSE, JUST THAT QUICK. (Thinking is required)RUNS A LITTLE ANALOGY THAT BRINGS IT RIGHT DOWN TO GOOD OLE COMMON HORSE SENSE, WHEREBY ANYONE CAN UNDERSTAND IT. (Think it through)I WANT YOU TO THINK ABOUT THIS MAN WITH THE LINEN. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?WHAT DID IT MEAN THAT HE WENT UP? WHERE DOES GOD SIT, BY THE CHERUB. THERE IS ONE ON EACH END OF THE ARK RIGHT? WHAT IS IN-BETWEEN? (One must think creatively to answer these questions)WHAT DID HE SAY? IT WAS IMPORTANT ENOUGH THAT GOD LEFT THE MERCY SEAT. THAT IS WHAT I WANT YOU TO RECOGNIZE. (Think)SO THAT MEANS THOSE THAT REALLY CARE ABOUT GOD’S WORD, HE IS SAYING, “YOU GO PLACE A MARK ON THEM. I WANT THEM MARKED”. WHICH IS WHAT? SEALED. “I WANT THEM SEALED. I WANT THE TRUTH IN THEIR MIND”. I PROBABLY SHOULD SAY, WHAT WOULD BE THE TIME ELEMENT IN THE SENSE OF TENSE…THINK TENSE FOR A MOMMENT…PAST, PRESENT, OR FUTURE. WELL, WHAT WOULD YOU JUDGE FROM THIS MORNING WHEN HE SAID “HEY, I WROTE THEIR NAME IN THERE BEFORE THE FOUNDATIONS OF THIS EARTH”. THAT GOES BACK A LONG TIME. I AM ONLY GONNA JUST DROP THAT LITTLE THING AS JUST SOMETHING FOR YOU TO THINK ABOUT. SOME THINGS ARE NATURAL. JUST ABSOLUTELY NATURAL. IT DOESN’T TAKE A ROCKET SCIENTIST TO FIGURE THAT ONE OUT WHEN WE DOVETAIL A FEW THINGS IN TOGETHER CONCERNING THIS GENERATION.THAT IS COMMON SENSE. SOMEONE THAT HE KNOWS IF I ASK THAT SERVANT TO DO A THING, THEY ARE CAN DO TYPE PEOPLE. THEY WON’T HOLD BACK. THEY WILL CUT TRAIL. THEY WILL TRAIL BLAZE. I KNOW THEY CAN CUT IT. THEY ARE CAN DO TYPE PEOPLE. WATCH OUT WHAT YOU THINK. YOU BETTER BE THINKING POSITIVE FOR GOD I’D SAY.DO YOU KNOW WHAT HE IS SAYING HERE? EZEKIEL, I MEAN, WE ARE TALKING ABOUT IN 600 B.C. , AND ALL HE HAS SEEN AS I SAID IS A CHARIOT AND WHAT HE IS SAYING IS INSTEAD OF THEIR WHEELS ROLLING ALONG BESIDE YOU, THEY ARE TURNED UP ON THEIR SIDE, AND WHEN THAT THING DECIDES TO TURN, IT LOOKS NOT WHERE IT GOES, IN OTHER WORDS, HE IS USED TO RIDING A DONKEY, AND WHEN THE DONKEY TURNS YOU PULL THE REINS AND THE DONKEY TURNS HIS HEAD AND YOU ARE ABOUT TO TURN THAT WAY, WELL, THEY DIDN’T DO THAT. (This required Pastor Murray to use his creative thought process to imagine the flying machine that Ezekiel was trying to describe)Be wiser than the serpent! (Think and gain knowledge and confidence)Blessings, Cedarhart

Freewill Allows Free Thinking! What is freewill? What determines its definition? As for any concept, two questions provide the key to a valid identification: “What aspects of reality give rise to the concept?”, and “What is its purpose?”What freewill tries to account for is our introspective conviction that we are in control of many of our choices, and thus our destiny – that we are free to think and decide. Who or what does the choosing? Choice is an action, so there has to be an “actor”. Our mind – the totality of our mental processes – does the choosing. In particular, it is that aspect of our mind that is aware of the “self” that recognizes and monitors freewill choices. What kind of choices we are referring to? We choose to think or not, what to think about, how much and how long to concentrate on an issue, how many options to consider, which of the options to select, etc. We also make higher level choices of goals and values, such as desirable character traits, careers, friends and lovers, and of course, moral decisions such as when to lie or tell the truth. The choice to think. One alternative doctrine sees freewill purely as the basic choice between thinking and not thinking. How do we choose? What is the meaning of “intelligent choices”? How could such choices represent personal responsibility? It is the fact that we consciously weigh the pros and cons of each freewill choice that provides for accountability. Our choices are implicit or explicit conceptual calculations. It is our freewill – our intelligence – that provides the freedom, the ability, to counter and correct these influences. From this it follows that freewill is a feature of high-level conceptual intelligence, and not something separate, not some prerequisite to intelligence. Any entity, any animal or machine that possesses the ability to think abstractly, and that has self-awareness (and awareness of its own ability to think and decide), will have freewill.Introspective awareness of our ability to choose – of the control we have over our destiny – is a byproduct of conceptual intelligence. Our minds are self-aware. The mind understands that it is making all of the calculations and decisions, is what gives us the unshakable knowledge that we are – the mind is – free to choose. This belief is not an illusion, it represents our real power and control. While introspection cannot by itself shed any light on whether freewill is determined or not, nor sense the neurons that give rise to it, conceptual investigation has no such limitations. There is every reason to believe that the phenomenon of freewill – and of consciousness for that matter – can and should be explainable in terms of naturalistic mind/ brain processes; questions that are the purview of cognitive science.ConclusionAre we just glorified robots ? Is a Porsche Turbo just a glorified ‘54 Beetle ? Perhaps – but what Glory. The “freedom” in freewill is the glorious ability of our minds to reprogram themselves and to evaluate automatic thoughts and emotions. We all have this ability, and we all choose to utilize it to a greater or lesser degree. The effects of nature, nurture, random events, and past decisions are not eliminated, but can be modified by our ability to project consequences and by our power to influence choices – by our awareness of freewill itself. All of this abstract thinking, projecting and deciding is the product of mechanistic causation, determined but not determinable. It is this freedom that makes us human.Let’s not squander our freewill by boxing ourselves in with irrational beliefs and counter-productive emotions, poor thinking, or lack of knowledge. “Lack of knowledge will take you down primrose lane”, stated by Pastor Murray on today’s lecture. “Lack of knowledge will cause you to fall and it will destroy you.” Selah.Blessings to ALL your deeper thoughts, Cedarhart
