More realistic yes, but not what is really needed. Then the question might be what is walking in the Spirit of God...if I would say the Word of God says we are to be wealthy as pertaining to money. Is that what the Spirit speaks of as wealth; money? God said ...the Son came not to be served but to serve. My question is what do the children of God ...serve to those who Lack? A first aide kit to temporarily treat wounds? I’m not saying this to be critical but it is questions I’ve been asking Him? Could point out in the neighbor above Jesus Christ is the one who repays and was among thieves. Surely He poured oil and wine into our fatal wounds. What is the children’s part then when God says to love your neighbour as you love yourself? If our eyes are fixed on lower things ...bandaids and temporal fixes that never hold or satisfy as living water ...have we missed the higher “possessing all things” and “making many rich” of truly walking in the Spirit of God?
Very good observation!

Would you think that the illegal alien was walking in the spirit of God? Jesus seems to think so.

Seems you want to make it about illegal aliens. Not that I disagree with you in who is your neighbour. But why ask are they walking in the Spirit? That was not the question but the question was IF we are walking in the Spirit of God what do those who lack need most.

No more than Jesus wanted to make it about Samaritans. He purposely chose a person who was hated by Jews to make his point.

I dunno; someone else brought that up. Jesus merely said "go and do likewise." But Jesus wasn't much into theology, I guess.

That was not the question but the question was IF we are walking in the Spirit of God what do those who lack need most.

What I get from the parable is that all other humans are our neighbors, and that goodness is not locked up in some denominational closet.

Thank you for being so kind in answering my questions. I do get why you chose as you did.

I often come off as too blunt with people. Nice to hear that I didn't leave that impression with you. Thanks for the compliment.

By faith we come to Jesus, to God. It is all in our hearts, even if we do not know all of the words to explain it all. Learning the words and their meanings is OK so long as it does not interfere with the connection to God in your heart through the Holy Ghost. Don't let the study of those words get in your way:

There was once a young man in North Korea, where it's unlawful to even speak of Jesus. For a long time, he realized that there was something missing in his life. One day, when he was alone in a field, God touched him. Knowing nothing other than this was his Maker, he went to his knees and gave himself up to this unknown God.

Later, he managed to escape to the south; only then did he discover Who it was to Whom he had given himself. So the question is:

"Was he saved at the moment he gave himself to God, or only after he learned about our faith?"

People get into arguments about the meaning of being 'saved'. This is unfortunate, but just so we are OK with God at this moment and at the final moment of time in the period allotted to us, why the argument? The man from North Korea received exactly what was needed at the time. Hopefully his later encounters with men and their foolish squabbles did not cause him to quench the Spirit that touched him at the first.

"And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved." Matt 10:22

I say the moment he gave himself. God touched him, he was called, he heeded the call. And our Father led him in his escape, to where he could hear the promise of Christ Jesus. Give God the glory!!

When we say or do a lot of things that we claim as "our faith", they would be totally incomprehensible to the people of Jesus' time. Even the word "Jesus" many of us wail out loud is not even what He was called. So, how can we tell a foreigner that they have to "do it the American way?"

Crazy as it sounds to Christians, some on this board believe that their neighbors are only the people they believe to be Christians.

Nuts

Insane
