I don't think there's much difference between a non-believer "faking it" and those deceived as members in any of the cults. Each can act the part when desired and look good doing it.

Matthew 7:13-18
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Once you understand how they operate, they're not hard to spot. Does what they do line up with Scripture? Generally speaking, when they open their mouths, we know what's going on. That's not to condemn someone who has a made a mistake here or there, but the false ones pretty much give themselves out when you're careful and keep the seal of God (the Scriptures) in your forehead.

A non-believer is a person that does not have faith, trust, and confidence in the work of God on the cross. They do not believe all their sins have been forgiven and place their faith in what they do in religion or in their idea that there is no god.Richard

Well, I believe according to scripture a non-believer would consitute anyone that is not born again of the holy spirit. I understand that the only way someone is considered a Christian under the eyes of God is that they must have baptized by the holy spirit.John 3:3-8 "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.ONCE SOMEONE IS BORN AGAIN INTO THE BODY OF CHRIST THEY ARE A SPIRITUALLY NEW CREATURE2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”1Pe 2:2-3 “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.”1Colossians 6:19 “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?”A NEW CREATURE MEANS A NEW LIFEMatthew 16:24-25 “Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.”Galatians 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”Ephesians 5:8-9 “For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth; )”Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”1John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.Theres a difference between someone who plainly believes God exists.James 2:19 "Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble." And someone who believes on him and is in communion with God through his holy spirit.2Corinthians 13:14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost , be with you all. Amen. Scripture tells us that if a soemone doesnt not have the Spirit of Christ he is none of hisRomans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. Therefore the carnal man cannot please GodRomans 8:7-8 "Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God."Isaiah 59:1-2 "Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear."Unless we call out with a broken heart for repentance and desire the LordPsalm 51:17 "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise."Psalm 34:18 "The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit."The disciples mentioned here were first called Christians at Antioch. They couldnt have been labeled as discipes of Christ if they had not heard nor followed his doctrine. Much less not having been born again.Acts 11:26 "And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch."Just like all epistles, this 1st Epistle of Peter Is Directed To Saints (born again) In The Spiritual Body Of Christ 1Peter 4:16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.Scripture tells us that spiritual content of Bible cannot be understood by the natural man1Corinthians 2:12-14 "Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."Therefore the only way someone can be considered to be a true believer is to have accepted Christ and been born again. We are dead in trepasses and sin until the holy spirit begins the regeneration process of our spirit.1Peter 1:22-23 "Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for everColossians 2:10-13 "And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;"Even though our body is dead in sin our inward man cannot sin. And we are kept in the remission of sins providing that we remain faithful and abide continually in the word. Romans 3:23-25 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;"1John 3:9 "Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God."1John 1:6-9 "If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." I know that before I was born again I couldnt possibly understand half of the things I do now (even though I'm still a babe). They were confusing and brought up many questions. I was a real mess.Hope this may have helped, God Bless!

yes they can and they do......Matthew 13:24-30 (NASB) Mt 24 Jesus presented another parable to them, saying, "The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field. 25 "But while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went away. 26 "But when the wheat sprouted and bore grain, then the tares became evident also. 27 "The slaves of the landowner came and said to him, 'Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?' 28 "And he said to them, 'An enemy has done this!' The slaves said* to him, 'Do you want us, then, to go and gather them up?' 29 "But he said*, 'No; for while you are gathering up the tares, you may uproot the wheat with them. 30 'Allow both to grow together until the harvest; and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, "First gather up the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them up; but gather the wheat into my barn.""' One identifies a lie by comparing what is said to the Scriptures... that is what is so important about the written word of God, and this message is crucial to new believers.... it is THE unchanging standard... and that is exactly what is so dangerous about the overly subjective approach to Christianity.... those who say things like "God told me this or that was ok" when what they say is ok is actually forbidden by the scriptures... or that what they believe is contrary to what the Scriptures say but that they have a "peace about it"... it doesn't matter what you "feel", if it is contrary to God's word, it is wrong.... it doesn't matter if you believe something and have a "peace" about it, if it is contrary to God's word, it is wrong...blessings,Ken
