Philippians 2:12,

12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Working out your own salvation, brings the Christ in you to the forefront of dailey living. There is going to be times when life is cruising along, and there is going to be times when life's situations need Christ to come to the forfront of that situation.

You understand that your spiritual growth is not only for your own well being but is for others as well. The time you spend prepping for life and renewing your mind is not just for you. It may be as simple as where you buy your gas or food shop or any circumstance. But one day where you buy your gas or food shop you see a tear in the eye of the one you buy from and have friended.

What is your salvation at a moment like that, to work out of you, Christ who is your salvation comes to the forefront and can address the need. He may come out of you as a comforter or a kind word or a giver or a healer, or a witness. Regardless it is Christ being worked out of you for humanity, "greater works shall you do because I go to the father." What is the greater works; Christ being worked out of each individual in the body of Christ. The good news is it is not men that are healers or prophets or pastors or what nots, it is Christ alive in the believer that does the doing.

I was told I was this and I was told I was that because of family lineage, until one day the Spirit revealed to me it was not me at all but it was Christ in believers that handled life's situations.

What a relief not to have to perform is an understatement, now the believer can be themselves and not what people think they should be but everything God made them to be with Christ-life expression, glory to God!

Verses 12 and 13 should never be separated as it is all one thought. Verses are man's addition...

Philippians 2:12-13 KJVS
[12] Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. [13] For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

It helps shift the focus from a man centered walk to a God centered one.

Are you afraid, being fearful and trembling that you might not be saved... or that you will make some kind of mistake that will snatch you out of God's hand? If not, then it is time to look at the possibility you have misunderstood the original intent of that verse by getting focused upon what the English translators chose to write.

Philippians 2:12-13 The Passion Translation (TPT)
Believers Shine Like Lights in the World

12 My beloved ones, just like you’ve always listened to everything I’ve taught you in the past, I’m asking you now to keep following my instructions as though I were right there with you. Now you must continue to make this new life fully manifested as you live[a] in the holy awe of God—which brings you trembling into his presence. 13 God will continually revitalize you, implanting within you the passion to do what pleases him.[b]

Footnotes:
a. Philippians 2:12 The Aramaic can be translated “push through the service of your life” or “work the work of your life.”
b. Philippians 2:13 The Aramaic can be translated “to accomplish the good things you desire to do.”

And the niv still gives:-
12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.

I often think we come far to lightly, too flippently int Gods presence.
The angels are discribed as hiding their faces and feet from God's sight.
We might have the right of a son, that does not give us the right to be disrespectful.

Fear and trembling is "respect?"

Why is he footnoting Aramaic?

Why is he footnoting Aramaic?
It may be because Paul may have spoken Aramaic, or that those specific words actually may have been Aramaic. He refers to Peter in his letters as "Cephas", which is the original Aramaic form of "Rock", the nickname given to Simon by Jesus. Also, in 1 Corinthians 16.12 he uses the word "Maranatha", which is Aramaic for "Come, Lord." That said, I know lots of Christians who also say "Maranatha", but they are monolingual Anglophones, so one cannot draw a definitive conclusion from that.

However, Paul describes himself as a Pharisee, a student of the Torah. This would require that he knew Hebrew, and probably Aramaic (the language in which the Talmud was ultimately written down). He seemed to be able to travel around Jerusalem and Judea with ease, so he probably knew the languages spoken there, namely Hebrew and Aramaic. For most of the 20th century it was usually thought that Hebrew in the 1st century CE was a dormant language used mainly in Jewish liturgies and rabbinical disputes, but more recent scholarship (largely based on the evolution of Hebrew in the Dead Sea Scrolls) suggests that it was actually a living spoken language at the time.

b. Philippians 2:13 The Aramaic can be translated “to accomplish the good things you desire to do.”
I don't but it. Aramaic? We don't have those manuscripts, besides there is a world of difference between 'His good pleasure' and 'things we desire to do'. I'll go with the standard translation rather than the NNAR (New New Apostolic Reformation translation) AKA The Passion translation. LOL
