I'm clearly a doofus, not caring about stocking up on cans of beef.
If I were to try to stock up food in our little apartment for hard times, we could fill it to the roof and it still would not last very long at all. If God wants to keep us here when the supplies dwindle [in the supermarkets, and/or in my apartment] He is most certainly able to provide:

"And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.
And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.
For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth.
And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days
And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah" I Kings 17:12-16

And that person WILL need "luck" to survive when no man can buy or sell, without succumbing to those trials as Peter failed in the courtyard, -- with the difference that Peter's failure wasn't terminal, but failing to stand for GOD and receiving the mark WILL BE TERMINAL.
I have Someone infinitely better than "luck!"

"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." John 14:26-27 NKJV

(Red letters means that it is a direct quote from Jesus.)

You remember how Peter failed. Do you know how Peter died, after Pentecost?
He stood up for his faith, and died a martyr.

I don't worry that much about the future.

Matthew 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
Matthew 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
This is because you don’t have what I call the chicken little syndrome.

“O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.” Daniel 3:16-18 NKJV

... where the strong men perished, and Jesus (according to some) appeared in the midst of the furnace.

But the last words Jesus spoke before going to the garden requires OUR Purse, Bag, and Sword. If you don't want to follow Jesus' directions, then there will be no -saviour- in YOUR fiery furnace. -- It'll be just you and your end ...

We All Choose,

So you prefer to fear men? Let it be so.

When David was about to be punished for his census, out of this three choices, he rejected the one where he falls into the hands of this enemies.

David was wise. -- Will you gladly fall into the hands of men?

I believe if you don't follow Jesus' last instructions before the garden, then you WON'T have someone to help you when you think ...

Luke 22:35 And he said to them, “When I sent you out with no purse or bag or sandals, did you lack anything?” They said, “Nothing.” 36 He said to them, “But now, let him who has a purse take it, and likewise a bag. And let him who has no sword sell his mantle and buy one.

Good Luck,
Bobby Jo

That doesn't mean he was afraid of them.

Psalm 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Ummmmmmm, he told YOU to provide for yourself, -- as His last instructions before going to the garden:

Luke 22:35 And he said to them, “When I sent you out with no purse or bag or sandals, did you lack anything?” They said, “Nothing.” 36 He said to them, “But now, let him who has a purse take it, and likewise a bag. And let him who has no sword sell his mantle and buy one.

But you have a different agenda than what Jesus instructed, thus you will have a different outcome than what HE planned.

Good Luck,
Bobby Jo

Go ahead, give yourself into the hands of men and see if YOUR outcome is any different than what the JEWS experienced.

Good Luck,
Bobby Jo
You know what I will find odd. When "this tribulation" is over, you'll probably not admit being wrong. You'll say there was a mistake in the math and revise when you think the "tribulation" will start. You could spend the rest of your life doing that.

Do you understand that verse...?

"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field." Matt 13:44

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." Matt 6:33-34

DON'T WAIT. Check out what I'm presenting that has already been fulfilled, and then you might have enough confidence in Bible Prophecy to believe what is coming next.

Where do you want to start, -- the Daniel 2 FIVE world empires versus the 4a/4b we're told? Or how about the 11:2 three more which arise in Persia, and the fourth which stirs up all against the kingdom of Greece, -- which we're told pertains to the ANCIENT Medo/Persian empire in which there are not FOUR kings, but more than a DOZEN. Pick your three and the fourth, and I'll point out that the angel demands the fulfillment is not for ~200BC, but for the 1900's; and in addition, I'll find a commentator which disagrees with you picks. -- It's all so easy, because liars are easily disproven.

  1. 539 - 530 BC -- Cyrus the Great
  2. 530 - 522 BC -- Cambyses
  3. 522 - 521 BC -- Smerdisa (Gaumata?b)
  4. 522 - 486 BC -- Darius I (Hystaspesc)
  5. 486 - 465 BC -- Xerxes (Ahasureus)
  6. 465 - 423 BC -- Artaxerxes I Longimanus
  7. (423) BC -- Xerxes II - few weeksb
  8. (423) BC -- Sogdianus - six monthsb
  9. 423 - 404 BC -- Darius II Nothus (Ochus)
  10. 404 - 359 BC -- Artaxerxes II (Mnemon)
  11. 359 - 338 BC -- Artaxerxes III (Ochusb)
  12. (338) BC -- Arses*
  13. 338 - (330*) BC -- Darius III (Codomanus*)

Of course, my favorite is the 9th Chapter, but YOU CHOOSE. -- Maybe Chapter 7; Rev. 13; Rev. 17? It's all good. Pick a card, any card ...

Fair enough?

Well, he wasn't THAT wise or he wouldn't have been subject to punishment in the first place--especially after he had been warned to NOT take a census. His top general, Joab begged David not to indulge in such "wickedness". We are told repeatedly, by Jesus Himself, to TRUST God. Scripture reminds us, "Not sparing His own Son..." If God asks martyrdom of us, will we refuse?

I do understand "excuses". And people use a lot of them to avoid the TRUTH. :)

Bobby Jo
You really do miss the point on "truth". As Jesus said, He is the truth. Lots of people mouth that much without knowing Him, or worse, without loving Him. What is needed is a love for the truth. Without that we will find ourselves in delusion. A person comes to the Love of Truth following the Holy Spirit by faith... not by knowledge.

"And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:" II Thes 2:10-11

Deluded people don't realize where they are and often have no incentive to be helped.

I don't see how any of that is relevant to you or me today. It doesn't tell me anything about whether I need to stock up on food.

You're exactly correct. Rumsfeld said, (and he stole the quote): there are known knowns; there are known unknowns; but there are also unknown unknowns. You're in the unknown unknowns, but acting as though you're in the known knowns.

And another famous quote is: ignorance can be cured, but stupidity is forever. Which is not to suggest that you're stupid, but simply that your ignorance of the unknowns can be cured.

Or maybe you're content being ignorant, and in that case, you'll need Good Luck!
