I'm not for sure how old they were when they started their tats.
@soul man You wrote this a while ago; often these days they start at 18 — often indeed having been itching to get their first ink since before 18, right?

It's a phase; sometimes a phase that lasts; so would they have grown out of it, yet?

Shows how the tattoo artist profession is certainly in demand, anyway.

Yes they were young when they started, especially my youngest. The rebel :) I'm proud of both my girls as a parent is you know it doesn't matter what they have gotten in too you always love your chillins. We are all making the trek to Vegas in Dec where youngest is getting married. I believe I told you about Trisha she chose to grow up hard but she has grown out of that and now is dealing with her own kids :) should I say pay back! Nah just life I did it. My oldest has a new really good artist, she wants us to get matching tats, need a cool theme! What do you have?

God bless your daughter's marriage! :) Have a great trip to Vegas (lots of good parlors there also; at the very least, portfolios to peruse...) A design I got on my arm faded and was not a success. So your daughter wants you to get matching tats? so you mean, you and your daughter together? or, you and your wife together? :)

I guess depending on who she means for matching tats, would influence a suitable design for them...

Sounds like your daughter doesn't want any family member to be excluded in the inking! (maybe including your wife). Since you said: "need a cool theme!", seems like you might even take up your daughter on her inking suggestion; do you think your wife might do so also? :)

Something family/faith based would be good, I guess...

@farouk I saw this meme on facebook and thought you would appreciate this one.

Guess it didn't save what it said. It said, "Sometimes the "bro" filled with tattoos is more spirit filled, then you who judges by appearance."

I prefer a Christian artist over any other for sure.....wonder if there are any out there?

@Heart2Soul Thanks for your comment; this is a link from the OP, FYI:

5 Christian Tattoo Artists Talk About Their Ministry

(There aren't any women among the ones featured in the article, but the profession itself is indeed opening up to women; and I can understand Christian women wanting to have the option to be inked by a trusted female Christian tattoo artist, can't you?)

I take the point, yes!

And I guess you as a tattooed Christian woman without ink regrets would know about the possibility that some ppl might criticize you for your ink, maybe?

Blessings.

And the one who encourages the unmarked person to "get inked", are you certain you aren't offering the alcoholic their first drink?

Just some food for thought as we work so hard at promoting this whole tattooing idea.

Much love!
Interesting perspective!

As regards discussion of tattoos, I guess it's possible to discuss faith based design possibilities, artist work, etc., without actually saying to someone, "You must get a tattoo" or even "You must get a first tattoo", or whatever. (I myself strongly doubt whether I have ever said such a thing.)

I guess the way I look at it is that there has been a sea change in attitudes to ink over the past decades and since so many ppl - including Christians - get them - women as well as men; in fact, more women than men now, according to statistics - the sensible attitude might be, Do it wisely, considering the witness potentials of faith based designs; and for those considering it as a career, Think of the potentials for faith based designs.

Thanks for your various comments.

Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD. (Leviticus 19:28)

We have something in Leviticus about no tattoos? Why, and what was or has been going on?

Man is made in the image and Glory of God. What man does reflects. The Spiritual is like a mirror. Various pagan peoples, had sorcerers. These sorcerers may have had very specific tattoos. Part of that may have been do to demons.......demons working to shame or dishonor, man made in the image and Glory of God, similar to a man who was being demonically oppressed and cutting himself. Some of people getting tattoos may have to do with a type of mysticism. King Saul hunted down sorcerers and mediums. How did he tell the sorcerers apart? They may have had very specific markings.

God is love. God's love is fatherly. God is also an artist. Why does someone need to improve upon themselves with tattoos? A man who is made in the image, and is The Glory of God.

In the 1960's only sailors had tattoos? Sailors who were known for going from harbor to harbor and lying with prostitutes. Today, a lot of people who were in sin, in a hook up society, have ended up with Tattoos because it was "popular," stroked their egos as they sought the approval of their friends, and/or possibly has to do with spirits.

Given someone has a lot of tattoos and the repented and found God.......they have a lot of tattoos. That doesn't mean it was right or correct.

@Man on Fire Thanks for your comments. My wife and I talked to a young lady with the whole of John 3.16 tattooed on her wrist area; it was her favorite Bible verse and mine also; and I'm sure that other conversations have arisen as a result of her willingness to have it done (which maybe was the whole point of doing it). It can be an effective witness tool.

Are you familiar with Woad Warriors from Scotland. The movie "Braveheart" comes to mind.

The blue paint came from pagan times. It was supposed to make someone a better warrior in a type of spiritualism.

What made someone a great warrior? Their blue paint or obedience and working in the will of God?

In a similar way, what does a tattoo really mean, and why does someone need one. Even if someone was going to get John 3:16 tattooed on them, why? Are they looking for attention for it? Does it make them more popular like someone looking to be seen fasting in the streets? I suppose they received their reward? I believe a Christian should be "Plain as John the Baptist."
