Romans 2:1 Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.

Paul is saying that the man who judges others for unrighteousness and thinks himself not as bad as others will not be excused and escape judgment because nonetheless, he is a sinner.

2:5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

This man is storing up wrath for himself.

2:6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds:

God will judge each person according to their own deeds.

2:7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:

God will demand continual good, continuance reflects perfection. Well doing is according to God's standard of righteousness.

2:8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,

2:9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;

2:10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:

The verses above are describing the righteous judgment of God, how God will judge according to our deeds. I see nothing in these verses to think we can be saved by doing good, nor that upon salvation these verses imply we have to secure and keep our salvation by doing good. Romans 2:5 gives the context for these verses by saying that wrath is being stored up for the day of the revelation of the righteous judgment of God. We do not have to work for our salvation ; God justifies the ungodly (Romans 4:5).

Agree ...there is none good but God.
No amount of good works can 'make' man good.

But the promise is, we can be 'found in Him' and seen as without spot or blemish. That is our blessed hope! God Himself , and us 'IN' Him.

addressing the OP, you gave the answer. Romans 2:1 "Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things."
how can one be good doing the same thing that he condem another for? as said, "God will judge each person according to their own deeds". as our sister BG said, without Christ we all would be in God's righteous judgment of condemnation. Romans 14:13 "Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way."

God justifies the ungodly (Romans 4:5).
Out of context a little ?

Romans 2 says that the gentile who does not even have Torah, if he does what Torah says, (as written),
IS JUSTIFIED,
and the Jews who do have Torah, if they do not do what Torah says, are unjustified. This is God's Judgment.

Because the gentile who obeys , without having Torah, is showing that God has written Torah on his heart.

So be DOERS of His Word, and not just HEARERS.

i.e. multitudes of ungodly remain condemned. It is not a blank check , carte blanche, for all people by any means,
that a few ungodly, a few unrighteous, are saved.
