First let me tell you about two people I knew when they were young. One had had sex with another man. The other one didn't have a girlfriend and people teased him about being gay. I could tell he had gay thoughts by his reaction to the teasing. I explained to both of them that that didn't make either of them gay. Both were feeling guilty or anxious. They got over it. The Catholic Church can make a big deal out of stuff like that. Some people who are bisexual go gay because they feel so weird. Some Catholics can be big on big guilt-trips. Is it really a sin to have an impure thought? I don't think it is. We all have good thoughts and bad thoughts. The key is to act on the good ones and reject the bad ones. Why feel guilty over bad thoughts? Just don't act on them.Hi Giuliano,
I am always interested in an outsiders point of view. I am curious; In your opinion how has "the CC made gays feel so guilty"?
Yes, I know that; and if you taken single men as priests, you'll be running a risk they won't be able to control their urges whether heterosexual or homosexual. If the Catholic Church thinks that's a risk worth taking, they can take it; but history shows, I think, that it's not.Did you know that one volunteers to become a priest which means they have chosen not to marry and taken a VOW to be celibate?
If he can indeed control his sexual urges. Paul also advises elsewhere that bishops should be married so people can look at how he manages his family to give clues about how well he will govern his flock.Did you know that the unmarried man is anxious about the affairs of the Lord, how to please the Lord; but the married man is anxious about the affairs of the world, how to please his wife, and his interests are divided?
I know there are some married priests, yes.Did you know that there are married priests? Did you know that men who CHOOSE to become celibate priest are striving to be more like Jesus? Isn't that a good thing?
Mary
It might be a good thing if unmarried priests could realistically be like Jesus. It could also be vanity if unrealistic.
