The Roman Catholic Church preaches a false Gospel. And I know good and well what indulgences are. Clearly you didn't catch the point I was making. I am not saying that this sale is a way to get out of purgatory. I am saying that indulgences, which had zero real effect, were just a way to put money in the church coffers. This is no different.
You betray your own lack of education again. It's called the "Catholic Church," not the "Roman Catholic Church."

If the sale of the device was not connected with lessening time in purgatory, it couldn't be an indulgence. Trying being more precise when using words.

Today while there are still indulgences, they aren't putting money in church coffers. Your honestly don't have a clue about what you're talking about.

The term roman occurs over 30 times in your own catechism. Maybe your leaders aren't as educated as you are?

I am not a Catholic as you brashly assume. I just happen to prefer truth over bigotry.

Does the phrase "Roman Catholic Church" occur in the Catechism? If so, produce a link to the page.

So far you've failed to produce any evidence for being that educated. I'll concede you exile at criticizing others; as for your own credentials, I'm waiting to see evidence. So far, you've shown you don't know what an indulgence is; and you don't know it's the "Catholic Church" and not the "Roman Catholic Church". It's not looking good for you.

It is the Roman Catholic Church. Has been for CENTURIES. That being said, you still haven't said whether or not you believe they are Christian. All you did was rebuke me for saying they are not saying that somehow violates the rules of this site. I looked up the terms of the site and guess what, nothing in there about calling a false religion false.

Actually I shoed I do know what indulgences are. And if you don't think it is the RCC that just shows your ignorance.

And you show how expert you are at demeaning others. If you want to think a device is an indulgence, what can I say? I feel sorry for you.

Still waiting for that citation from the Catechism. Or are you going to keep repeating yourself, hoping you can make it true by saying it over and over?

When did I say the definition of an indulgence is a device? I didn't.
Why mention indulgences then? Why compare this device to them as if all indulgences are sold to make money? You may think you're smart; but I call that sly and cunning, like the serpent.
So there are some half-educated Catholics who have heard this term so many times, they sometimes use it themselves. It got started by Protestants. It is not what the Catechism uses. It is not a term well educated Catholics use.

Yeah...ok... so does the Catholic church preach a false gospel? Are they the Christian church? You keep avoiding that question.

What a statement. You never asked the question. No, they preached repentance, baptism and leading virtuous lives. They are Christians. They are part of the Church, surely. Why wouldn't they be if they believe in Jesus? I disagree with them on many things, but who's right all the time? I probably am not so probably shouldn't judge them if I think they aren't.

From your own ccc "1059 "The holy Roman Church firmly believes and confesses...."
It doesn't even call itself catholic, but roman! Roman church, roman pontiff....You were saying?
