My only time ever in Canada was in about 1966. I was stationed at Ft Lewis WA and went across the border that one time with a friend of mine who lived not far away on the Washington state side. The first time I recall attending a Baptist church was with him in his small hometown. Unfortunately, I did not take my camera with me. It is good that our friend @Yehren did not forget his.

Years ago, when a passport wasn't needed, my son took me from Seattle up to Vancouver. Love that city. On the way back, as we got to the border, a U.S. border agent looked into the car, and asked me "You an American citizen?"

I responded, "I'm from Texas."

He laughed, said "yes, you are" and waves us through.

Laughter indeed. I've never been a Texan, but I've lived next door to your north for better than 30 years now.

Yes, I also remember that when I entered Canada no passport was required. Though I had been to the Far East and Dominican Republic already I did not get a Passport for the first time until Feb of 1969 when I was preparing to go to school in West Germany.

I took none of these photos, but had to share them for their haunting poignancy.FB_IMG_1573773658992.jpg FB_IMG_1573384962515.jpg FB_IMG_1573773677062.jpg FB_IMG_1573773687065.jpg FB_IMG_1573773699117.jpg FB_IMG_1573773713998.jpg
