First off I want to say Hi! I hope you don't find my first post negative, but for some reason this week was certainly a test for one's faith, especially mine. I would love stand up and have valid statements to say against atheists or just non-beleivers. I always keep quiet when talks of religion or GOD start to form at a group, party, work, ect. I know there is many things to say and they are in my heart but can't come out into words, I think it would just take practice. Anyways this is what someone said today. "I can't turn my life, my families lives, and our total EXISTENCE on this earth over to a god that no one person or groups of persons from any religion has ever proven exist" Non-believers have very strong valid points at times, I just say something simple like by faith I believe, but it just sounds weak. My point is really that I think it was a test for me this week to stay strong.

Welcome aboard Few unbelivers and even many believers for that matter dont really understand God we are NOT to turn everything over to God and then just sit on our duffs and say OK you do it all from here on out God isnt an escape from life ...He enhances what we do ..he wants us to be can do go getters ... He just wants us to do it in a positive constructive way ...He wants us to be the best parents ..the best .. spouse .. the best employee ..the best friend ... and then he adds blessing on top of that

I always find it curious when a non-believer says there is no proof. You know there is lots of it around actually. They just don't want to see it for some reason. Ask them why do atheists turn to God if there is no proof? Remember whatever they choose to believe it is a choice and we are held accountable to our choices. There will be no excuses come judgment day.

Ive always found it intriguing that atheist devote so much of their time and effort trying to disprove something they do not believe exists .. I would not waste a minute of my time trying to prove little green men or fairies don't exist ..if I didn't believe it

That's not how logic works, really- the burden of proof lies on those who assert the existence of something, with those who disagree questioning the validity of the proofs that are offered. To speak more plainly: Say you had a brother who believed in fairies. He's never seen one, but he says that the signs are all around if you're willing to look. When you're together he often mentions fairies during conversation; when you respond with points like the fact that no one's been able to come up with documented proof of fairies, he just brushes them aside and notes that he sees you spending an awful lot of your time trying to disprove the existence of something you don't believe exists. This all having been said, I do wholly agree with the points in your initial response; you cover everything I had to say in response to AJG.

Another point to add when someone says God or Jesus are just like fairy tails or Santa Claus etc is also not a logical comparison. How many people does anyone know come to believe in Santa at the age of 30 or 40 or 50. None I would say. However how many people come to believe in God at those ages? Furthermore, there is just no terms of comparison it we look at both. They are just not comparable.

That doesn't really work. Popular support for an idea doesn't make it true.

It's not about popular support.

Let me rephrase that: People believing an idea is true doesn't prove that the idea is true.

That's fair. People cannot just compare santa or other myths with Jesus they are just not comparable.
