The teaching I received when I was catholic that if I did not go to confession, and sinned , I was
going to hell........ I sure am glad we now have a bible and read it..... and know the truth....

Agree.

BY comparison:
OT & NT - all earthy men have sinned
OT & NT - Only God is without Sin
Catholic - God & Mary are without Sin
OC- Other Christians- only God is without Sin

OT - ISRAEL violate the Law is Sin
NT - ISRAEL violate the Law is Sin
Catholic- Violate the Law is Sin
OC - Disbelief is Sin

Jesus arrived-
- Fulfilled the Law
- made moot consequence of law violation
- Offered Forgiveness for Disbelief
- Offered cleansing (his Blood) For Belief

Confessions For having Sin...
OT - ISRAEL repeatedly offered animal blood.
NT - ISRAEL repeatedly offered prayers.
Catholic repeatedly offerS Confession, prayers
OC - 1) continue following/learning/ believing
..........receiving measures of Faith from God
.......2) STOP following/learning/believing
..........Faith from God halted.
.......3) Person has thus Fallen from Faith

ANY Person - Israel- Jew- or Gentile
......1) Following
......2) Continues
......3) Believes
......4) Gods Gift of Faith increases
......5) Increased Faith prepares the Person
......6) prepared Person: acts Willingly:
1) calls on the Lord
2) confesses having Sin of having DisbelievED
3) confesses Belief
4) asks for Forgiveness
5) receives and accepts Gods GiftS:
.......Once and FOREVER...
Old creature Dead.
New Creature IN Christ Alive Forevermore.
Converted IN Christ the Lord.
Sealed FOREVER unto Lord God Almighty.

A Converted & Sealed man, is THEN (by adoption) a son of God FOREVER.

Such a man...may Trespass AGAINST other men, which:
If you were and remain Under the Mosaic Law...the Trespass AGAINST a man WAS And still IS commission of a Sin.

If you were NEVER Under Mosaic Law (Ie a Gentile)
A Trespass AGAINST a man, was and Is a Trespass...and the consequence was and is effected by and through Civil Laws of men and Governments or settled between the men. <--- That has not changed.

A Converted and Sealed man...
1) Jew / Israel IS: Freed from Sin.
He can never Again Sin Against God
He Can commit Trespasses Against men, but it is no longer A Sin.

2) Gentile man...Freed from Sin
He can never Again Sin Against God
He can commit Trespasses Against men, (but not having been Under Mosaic Law)...a Trespass Against a man was Never a Sin unto a Gentile...and still is Not.

Gods Word Teaches men...His PRECEPTS...
Of the best course of Behavior Between men...to Avoid Trespassing Against men and What to Do...should YOU Trespass Against a man or a man Trespass Against YOU.

Catholics - (primarily) some other Christians also...
Teach...
1) Conversion In Christ :)
2) Converted men Continue to Sin
3) repeated prayers To God for Forgiveness of Sin
5) All men SIN against men
6) Jesus & Mary never had Sin.
7) JESUS & Mary are their intercessories to God.
8) God is a Human.
9) Jesus had Mary's DNA:eek:

Glory to God,
Taken

Your anti-Catholic prejudice is based solely on past negative experiences, and maybe you suffered spiritual abuse, and have never stopped blaming the Church. Some Christians growing up in dysfunctional families go to the extreme, and become atheists. Talk to a Christian parent whose kids are atheists. You will see for yourself what I say is true. It's usually caused by fatherlessness of some sort. The psychology of it is the same as your neurotic prejudice.

You don't have a religious beef with the Catholic Church. You have a psychological beef. If you think its just doctrinal issues, you have no way of explaining why thousands of Protestants, ministers and Bible college professors are becoming Catholic in increasing numbers. Is it because they don't know their Bible?

How could you post any Scriptures, since there is NOT A SINGLE VERSE in the Bible that speaks of Purgatory? Purgatory is a Catholic fiction to rake in the dollars. And it works.

But did you fall in love? No, you probably went through the motions. You give no credit for the seeds that were planted at that time. Because you find Jesus outside the walls of the Church, you automatically assume He isn't there. Mass and schools are secondary educators, parents are the primary educators. You base your "Catholic expertise" on skeletons, then wrongfully claim the Church is dead. When was the last time you saw an on fire parish with an active youth ministry, free services to the homeless, free marriage and financial counselling, Bible studies, the list goes on. You don't want the Church to grow because you're 70+ years old and refuse to grow up yourself. Anti-Catholicism is a convenient expression of anger, enabled by a culture of death that tries to rid the world of the Catholic Church.

I posted lots of scripture about Purgatory - posts 21,22 , 27
you posted nothing because the theory of purgatory is man made :
Purgatory: What is it?
According to Dictionary.com, purgatory is “a condition or place in which the souls of those dying...are purified...from sins.” Essentially, purgatory is part of the Catholic doctrine of faith where a “final purification” occurs in order to “achieve the holiness necessary to enter...heaven,” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, CCC 1030-31).

The famous theologian Augustine – considered a founding father of Christianity – advocated praying for the dead. He felt prayer removed the final traces of sin after a human passed away. According to Catholic Online, St. Augustine lead a life of drinking and sexual immorality. Could Augustine’s inner-guilt from his personal experiences with sin lead him to embrace the idea of purgatory? Perhaps so.
Does Scripture Support Purgatory?
The very popular Pope John Paul II, with the support of the Italian Vatican, published a second edition of the Catechism of the Catholic Church in 1997. It states, praying for the dead was necessary:

All who die in God’s grace and friendship, but still imperfectly purified, are indeed assured of their eternal salvation; but after death they undergo purification, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven. (CCC 1030).

Devout Catholics also look to the book of 1 Corinthians to support their beliefs about purgatory.

If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire,” (I Cor. 3:15). see works has NOTHING TO DO WITH SALVATION, WORKS FOLLOW SALVATION .
Matthew 25:35---“For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:”
this is the type works that will be judged by the fire. the person who dies in Christ dies under Grace our sins are forgiven we been cleansed by the blood . the doctrine of purgatory is made up as you can see

Any scriptures for that?
sure
1 Corinthians 3 New King James Version (NKJV)
Sectarianism Is Carnal
3 And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to behaving like mere men? 4 For when one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are you not carnal?
Romans 8:5-7 New King James Version (NKJV)
5 For carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.
Carnal

Of the flesh; denoting human nature.
For ye are yet CARNAL: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not CARNAL, and walk as men? ( 1 Corinthians 1:1

And a Melkite Catholic is NOT a Roman Catholic.
And a Maronie Catholic is NOT a Roman Catholic.
And a Byzantine Catholic is NOT a Roman Catholic.
And a Coptic Catholic is NOT a Roman Catholic.
And a Alexandrian Catholic is NOT a Roman Catholic.

That's just the way it is . . .
It's your excuse to try and belittle those who point out the fallacies of the Roman Church. It's not reality.

While I was catholic I never felt like I was going to heaven !
Now why do you suppose that is ??????????
Going to confession and still afraid I was going to hell ! WHY !
I was not a bad child !
And as a adult the same way........

Now going to a bible church, I finally know the truth......... and know that I am saved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know I am going to heaven !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Eph.2;
8

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
JESUS paid the full price for our sins, as long as we believe and understand..........
How simple, why they did not teach this ?

Eph.2;
8

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
