So what do you make of the tattoo design in post #783, above?
Pithy, but it doesn't surpass my personal, practical objections to tattoos, generally. I consider evangelical tattoos to be more worthwhile, in that regard.

I am just as hesitant to get "vanity" license plates. I can't think of any statement that they can make that is worth the extra $50?/year registration cost.

@Sabertooth I would tend to agree, indeed. The young lady that my wife and I talked to with the John 3.16 wording tattooed in full on her wrist area likely undertook the inking not mere for the 'it feels good' factor, but because she trusted it would be effective as an evangelistic tool; and it certainly brought about our conversation; her very probable prediction that it would spark discussion proved to be very accurate, indeed...

So I can understand people being motivated with strong reasons to do such a thing, can't you?

You are persistent; I'll give you that! :D
@Prayer Warrior Well, I guess maybe, that persistence - as you call it - may all be part of the permanence of tattoo designs, so I guess - like the young lady that my wife and I talked to who had the wording of John 3.16 inked on her wrist area - it takes a lot of effort and decisiveness, don't you think? :)

I suppose so, yes. For many, tattoos are a way of projecting one's pain. Hence you see them on a lot of metal and rap artists.
@Hidden In Him Interesting point. Well, when my wife and I talked to the young lady with the whole of John 3.16 tattooed on her wrist area, she didn't particularly seem to be exuding anguish or exasperation; rather, likely more of a quiet determination and even maybe joy at being an inked Christian women effectively communicating faith in this medium.

(If this makes sense?)

Honestly, I would rather prophesy than get a tattoo because I've seen how God has used this gift to encourage fellow Christians, but that's just me. :)

@Prayer Warrior Well, I'm guessing that the young lady who took the decision to get injected with the inked wording of John 3.16 did so with a strong desire to let the Word of God speak for itself, if you see what I mean...? :)

It certainly proved effective in bringing about the conversation with us...!

One of my favorite Bible verse:

Isaiah 55:10-11
"For just as rain and snow fall from heaven
and do not return there
without saturating the earth
and making it germinate and sprout,
and providing seed to sow
and food to eat,
so My word that comes from My mouth
will not return to Me empty,
but it will accomplish what I please
and will prosper in what I send it to do.”
