Agreed. But that doesn't mean it's "less than".

In diverse ways and sundry times God spoke directly to the fathers, but in the last days he was not direct but instead spoke through the intermediary that was His Son. He walked with Enoch and Adam! That level of contact has definitely lessened.

The fact of existence is self-evident, and the simplest reasoning shows it didn't get here on it's own.

Who said it come to be on its own? The fact of existence only points to there being existence. Details about existence' purpose, designer(s), etc., are lacking outside of revelation.

While He walked with Adam, He lives in me. We are united together as one. Jesus in me.

The fact of creation's existence teaches us God's power in being able to make it, and His authority over what He made.

That there is a creation tells us that someone made it, and that Someone can do with it what He wants.

On a scale, how would you rank your scriptural knowledge? Additionally, what about your understanding of scripture?
Just wondering why this would be of interest to an agnostic.

"...a person who holds the view that any ultimate reality (such as God) is unknown and probably unknowable broadly : one who is not committed to believing in either the existence or the nonexistence of God or a god..."

So no matter how well a Christian knows his Bible, the agnostic would say that God is unknowable and may either exist or not exist.

On the other hand, a person who goes through life in an ambiguous state of mind indicates that he is not a very wise man. "Is it bus #49 or is it bus #94..."

Back to some of the other comments, sine the Bible is indeed God's revelation to man about Himself and about Christ, without the Bible we would never know the truth or the true Gospel.

Christ is synonymous with existence or being, and is self sufficient. Existence doesn't "get here on its own" because it's already here. Eternal being is always here.

On a scale from 0 to 100 with 100 being complete scriptural knowledge, I would rate my understanding, and knowledge of scripture at around 0.000001, and that would be a generous ranking.

Can you know the Lord without knowing the Bible?

Hello Truth,

Yes. The Church began before one letter of the NT was written, and proclaimed and lived the Truth for many years before the bible as you know it was canonized.

Scripture certainly helps one to know the Lord, but the simplist, illiterate and uneducated can come to know the Lord.

You too! Are welcome to come to the wedding feast of the Lamb of God!

Peace be with you!

"For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise." II Cor 10:12

Absolutely wrong! Any lessening of contact is because people have moved away from Him. Because of what Jesus did on the cross and because of the pouring out of the Holy Spirit, a closer level of contact is now possible for anyone, whereas in the OT it was only possible for a very few. Others in the OT they had to work through the priests and the prophets of God. He has walked with many more in our time. The actual number may be few compared to the population of the world, but as I said it is not because God is not available even though they may not all be hanging out a sign for you to read: "I am walking with God". Actually there is a sign, but without "eyes to see" it is normally not visible to unbelievers.

Are you sure about that? ;)

Noah new of the judgement of God.
Abraham knew of the Fatherhood of God...and with the 'ram in the thicket' he knew about the provision of God.

Moses knew about I Am ..and the loving heart of God when God revealed His name El Shaddai .."many breasted one" to Moses.

Etc etc...

The fact of creation's existence teaches us God's power in being able to make it, and His authority over what He made.

The fact of existence being, just illustrates that existence is. It doesn't speak to the WHO or WHAT behind it at all. It says nothing about there being a God, many gods, or no gods. We need revelation for the details of the WHO or WHAT to be made known.

That there is a creation tells us that someone made it, and that Someone can do with it what He wants.

Why not SOME INDIVIDUALS or SOMETHING, or even SOMETHINGS? Without revelation one would not know that existence wasn't the result of the accidental undertakings of a pantheon of powerful entities, a single powerful entity, or a power source that has no will or persona.
