There are many churches who no longer preach and adhere to the same standard of holiness upon which their foundation was laid. (for instance PAOC in Canada).

I know of some that no longer carry the Apostolic or Pentecostal label, but now prefer a non-denominational referencing to their beliefs.

Some of them have even changed their church names, which, in my gut, signals a move from the stronger holiness Apostolic days.

What's the deal with the rejection? Is this proof that Jesus likes holiness, but the world doesn't?

Totally agree ...when we mention the word holiness ..some look at us sideways. LOL

We cut out teeth and our very first church was a Holiness Mission Hall.
Surely we are called to be 'separated unto Him'...as were the holy vessels in Moses tabernacle ...which for me holds all the types and shadows or for us...as we know...God said to Moses .."Be sure that you build it according to The Pattern that was shown thee on the Mount".

Dave and I used to be hard and fast on this..in all our studies , if 'the type' was not there to find in the tabernacle for us to see as a pattern of the Hoy walk... we'd throw it out.

off to bed...must run..blessings... H

Glossolalia has been on the wane for decades now, and if the least of the gifts is in decline we can assume the rest have been as well. I don't see prophecy as ever having been all that strong to begin with. And if the gifts have been in decline, that means genuine outpourings have been also.

It goes almost without saying that here can be no holiness apart from the Holy Spirit. It is impossible for men. Maybe they really should be changing their names. Why lie, and give the world even more excuse to mock Christians?

In Pentecostal churches throughout the country, messages in tongues on the decline

To me being 'holy' means being set apart for or devoted to God but I think this may not be part of the teaching of some churches.

Interesting. I see 'sanctified' as meaning set apart unto God, and unlike the common teaching of most churches, I see that at the beginning of our walk, not the end. I see the 'process' they teach as sanctification as 'glorification' to the likeness of God. This is because Jesus took away our sin and gave us His own Spirit to finish the process of glorification. Sin is not a life long process to eliminate as those under the law with no power and is taught today. We have the Spirit and we should be walking in the Spirit always, not grieving or quenching him due to Defeatistism. With the Spirit we walk in Victory.

Holiness is not only a possibility for the Christian; holiness is a requirement. “Without holiness no one will see the Lord” (Hebrews 12:14). The difference between God and us is that He is inherently holy while we, on the other hand, only become holy in relationship to Christ and we only increase in practical holiness as we mature spiritually. The New Testament emphasizes the pursuit of holiness in this world and the final attainment of holiness in the world to come.

To be “holy” means that we are, first of all, “set apart for honorable use.” Whereas we were “once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures . . . God our Savior . . . saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit” (Titus 3:3-5; cf. 1 Corinthians 6:11). The Lord took the initiative to pull us out of our former lifestyles. He saved us, cleansed us, and set us apart for righteousness. If we have believed in Christ for salvation, we have been washed by the regeneration of the Holy Spirit and set apart from the world for godliness (see Romans 12:2).

I agree with the article in the link.
It's been years and years ago I heard people speak in tongues in church.
It was a regular event when I was saved in the early 1980's.
Seems to me churches are now avoiding it in order not to chase people out of church.....
The move away from tongues is restricting the move of the Holy Spirit. (Including the Gifts)

This is sad and a sign of the end...Hebrews 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord
