I have read multiple comments from individuals that the Bible is complete and therefore we cannot add anything to it. This is true, I agree that we cannot add any new teaching to it. But it did not say that we were to be readers only of it....we are suppose to be doers of it.

So IMHO....we are to do all that Jesus did, the Apostles, the Prophets and to be disciples of it....and to go out into the world training up more disciples. This includes miracles, healings, casting out demons, prophesies, preaching and teaching and even raising up the dead.

When Jesus said to the disciples in John 16:12 12“I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13“But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. 14“He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. 15“All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.

Why couldn't they bear them at the time....they already knew He was going to be crucified....that He would die and be resurrected....so what was Jesus referring to?

And what about the mysteries of God.....they are revealed to us by the Holy Spirit....and did not Paul say we see in part and know in part but in time we will know all?

I accidentally hit the post button...I wasn't quite finished with my OP....but my point is that we are continuously growing in the knowledge and truth of God's Wisdom....some things could not be revealed until the appointed time....Revelation has numerous scripture referring to the Angels revealing the mysteries....
I don't believe we can change any portion of what Jesus preached....but to say we can't be doers of what the disciples did is just plain ignorant....if they did it so can we because we serve the same God, have the same Holy Spirit and are saved by the same Jesus, the only begotten son of God.

I agree.

You said: "some things could not be revealed until the appointed time." I happen to believe that one of the books that the Roman Church didn't include in the canon was protected and preserved by God until the appointed time and was discovered, moments before it was lost forever by burning for fuel by monks on Mt. Sinai. That can't be a coincidence. Anyway, I love the Epistle of Barnabas and have learned a great deal about why God did some of the things He did that our current Bible doesn't explain.

We can still be saved with what we have now, but I love to know as much about God and His ways as possible. This closed up some holes in the Bible for me.

And yes, I am so blessed to have and operate in the gifts of the Spirit. Cessationists feel safe without them, but like an agoraphobic. Safe, but not really living to their full potential.

Jesus had told them he would be crucified land rise from the dead but they didn't fully understand this. When Jesus was arrested Peter tried to defend him and cut off a man's ear. After the crucifixion the disciples went into hiding and didn't even believe the first reports of his resurrection. It wasn't until Jesus had spent 40 more days teaching them and they had received the baptism of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost that they were finally ready to receive God's full revelation of truth.

Many of these truths were revealed through the apostle Paul.

To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to bring to light for everyone what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God, who created all things, so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. This was according to the eternal purpose that he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord.

"And He will disclose to you what is to come" I find it revealing that most have no idea what is coming next. So by this, most will be caught unaware because they were sleeping instead of watching. When one receives Power from on high, it it then and only then, that they are able to bear. I just had a bomb dropped on me today, but it bothers me not, for He has already overcame this world. I will just shake the dust off my feet, and we(as One) will keep walking.

I haven't read the Epistle of Barnabas...but it makes me question whether Peter and other disciples also wrote epistles that are not included in the Bible.

If it appeared to actually have been written by either of them, plus John, it was included. It is not thought that Paul wrote Hebrews, because Paul always signed his works. In fact, it is thought that Barnabas could have written it (or Apollos), and seeing as it also explains things in the Old Testament like the Epistle of Barnabas does, my money is on Barnabas.

There is a prophecy in it that couldn't have come to pass at the time they were picking out the books, but it can come to pass now. "for such a time as this."

I was watching the news and at the bottom of the screen (the one that scrolls other news) I read that the Pope made a statement to the church that they must become less conservative in their christianity and adapt to current lifestyles of society (in other words adopt liberal views)....this is such a blatant religious rebellion against God's Word that it made me cringe in horror that he would be so bold as to suggest the church bend to the world's ways instead of adhering to His ways.

this is correct the bible is complete, but is full of more revelations. as an example ONLY, the bible is like a pregnant woman that is constely giving birth to new facet of revelation. that's why we need the Holy Spirit to guide us.

Good topic.

I don't understand why some people take everything that was directed to Jesus' disciples at the time as pertaining to us.
There are no Apostles or Prophets today. If so, how about naming one?

Kathryn Kulhman was very well known as a modern day prophet....today Jonathan Kahn has accurately prophesied to God's people, Kim Clement...since has passed prophesied accurately Trumps presidency in 2007....
God has even uses me to speak ....10 times in my life He sent me as His messenger to speak what He wanted them to hear....and everyone of them came to pass as He spoke it.

Yes but I believe the Lord empowers people with different gifts and appoints them at different times according to thier circumstances in life etc. But I don't think it's right for anyone to go out and do something they wasn't called to do period. remember Jesus said no one had power over him and that nobody can't receive anything unless it was given to them above..so if someone didn't receive authority from the Lord and sent that person why would one make one self such a thing since not they wouldbe under the Lord's authority and really did not send them, wouldn't that make someone a false prophet? And prophets never speak on thier own accord, it's the spirit and Lord speaking through them cause only the Lord knows the right things to say... Ezekiel 13

1. You are confusing Church growth, Christian growth, and/or Christian achievements with Scripture. Two totally different things.

2. Paul clearly said (prophetically) that prophecies would cease. And they did. There is not a single Apostolic Father (1st and 2nd centuries) who claimed to be a prophet. They made sure people knew the difference between them and the apostles.

3. Paul also said that when "that which was complete" (not He who was perfect) was come, then that which was in part would be done away with. And so it happened when the Bible was completed.

4. Paul also said that the Bible is totally sufficient for Christians (2 Tim 3:16,17) for every reason. That should be adequate for all. Your quotation from John 16 applies to the apostles, who received divine revelations and wrote them down as Scripture.

5. The apostle John made it perfectly clear that he was writing the Revelation of Jesus Christ as the last and final book of the Bible, and nothing should be added to those prophecies.

6. Christ and the apostles warned that false christs, false apostles, false prophets, and false teachers would come before His Second Coming. And they have surrounded us. Many Christians see Kim Clement as a false prophet.

I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish with this thread, other than cause spiritual confusion.

What about the two witnesses? Are they not prophets?

You know that a prophet is simply a messenger.. right? I hear the Holy Spirit speak to me all the time and quite clearly. Most people I have met that claim what you are saying have never heard Him speak....but He is always speaking to us and many just don't recognize it's Him...or they may not have a personal relationship with Him through prayer in order to develop the kind of relationship that is necessary in order to have a conversation.
Why does God say my sheep hear my voice and no other voice will they follow.. why not just say my sheep reads my word and know what is written.
Hearing and seeing are both addressed in scripture.
God is most definitely interested in the spoken word. Those having dull ears fail to hear Him...that's why He sends messengers who He can speak through.
Also known as prophets....or having the gift of prophesy.
If the Bible is nothing but a history book documenting the lives of others and telling us to obey every word of it however not to do what the Apostles and Prophets did then I have a problem with God giving power to them only to defeat the enemy.....and leave us without that power knowing that we would face the worst of evil in the last days.
That is NOT the God I serve! I serve a mighty God...He is in me and I am in Him and He manifests His power through me as I am His vessel.
So that's my stand on it.
I pray the Holy Spirit will speak to your heart and show you Truth.
