I know the New Year starts at different times, so we can celebrate now! Tomorrow is New Year's Eve over here. I may not be on for a little while. Ive had some very hard news I would have rather not had coming into the New Year. My family in Texas are in shambles right now and needs a lot of prayer. It affects me also. But I promised not to talk about it except for my hubby and counselor/close friend off internet. So need happy/fun memes and conversation!!!! I'm not letting anything stop my 2020 vision! It just means healing is coming to my siblings too this year...and eye openers.
Amen! I will be in agreement with you on this!

I wasn't going to stay up, but as its 11:40 in the UK - 20mins left of this last decade - actually can you all remember the turn of the century - that was such a great new year. Everyone thought all the computer systems would go down, so funny when midnight came and nothing went wrong !!!
I remember neighbours all came out of their houses and we welcomed the year 2000 in - good memories.
What's your best new year ?
I think I will be getting ready to get up for work when some of you are welcoming in 2020, and of course some of you are way ahead of the U.K.
Wonder if we will finally leave Europe, or whether it will be another decade before they reach the decision, kind of feels as if it's been ten years since it all started !! Lol
Have a great evening xxx
Happy New Year. I stayed up until 12:20. I had a couple of glasses of Baileys, a few chocs while reading my Christmas book then opened my bedroom window and watched the fireworks at midnight.

As I stood there I remembered the New Years of when I was a girl in Eccles. We used to stand at the front door with my mum and listen for the town hall clock to strike, there were no fireworks back then but the ships on the Manchester Ship Canal at the top of our road used to sound their deep horns - boop, boop, boop - with the little pilot tug boats sounding their much higher ones - beep, beep, beep. I could imagine that last night as I stood at the window. And then my mum used to go out the back door and into the front to 'first foot' and supposedly bring good luck. Do people still do that?

I likely would not even notice the passing of the year if so many people did not make such a thing of it. It is like American football. I live in a city and state where American football is one of the highest things on people's minds. The only reason I usually take notice of it is that one night each week during football season the early weather report is bumped forward to a later time. Since my discontent, usually unexpressed except to my wife, represents a minority view, it is not surprising that I rarely hear anyone else complain. For me it means that I am required to either go to sleep without watching the weather or to stay up an hour later than is my norm. LOL.
