This subject when looked at from a Biblical view could be the same as thinking of and performing murder, infidelity and perversions. What have we let loose on our Children? Remember Jesus said that even the thought was a Sin.

Look at all the kids killing kids today. They are desensitized.

Obviously you cannot kill something that was never alive. Is shooting at a picture of a human in a gun range sinful? I don't think so. Back in the day when I was a kid, kids played 'cowboy and Indian', 'cops and robbers' and would 'shoot' each other. It was just a game. But I suppose if one allows it to create some sinful condition (lust, hate) in the heart then it can be sinful. If a Christian plays basketball and commits a foul, is that foul a sin (cheating, not playing honestly) or just part of the game?
(Images of pornography would be wrong.)

As God's creations, we are not unlike those things digitally created "in our image", but very much the same. If one can receive it, there is no real difference, but rather makes for a great example.

In that light then, answering your question, it is important to note that God's own created imagery also has violence, etc.. The difference is that He "works all things together for good for those who love Him according to His purpose." So, the question would be specific to each video game: Is it all for good, or not? If not, it would be good not to partake. If yes, then let praise be given to God!

First, this has been largely debunked.

I'm not sure that it is a sin, I'm on the fence about this. However, I do know it is not in accord with the following:

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” (Philippians 4:8, ESV)

This is the answer that should be given to those who ask, "If God is good, why all the death and suffering?"

And so shall it be engraved and displayed in the courts of God forever!

I believe that once you've been made conscience of something then you have to act in accordance with what is right and what is wrong in that conscience. I've been told that denial is more than just a river in Egypt. It's the thought that counts. Even if you think about harming someone or another Man's Woman you are guilty of the Sin. In the Images of some of these games you go out to rape, murder and take possessions. There are some many paths of temptation in the world today. Come out of Babylon My People Saith the LORD.

Have you read the whole thread? If you can't see how it is relevant this probably isn't the thread to be posting on.
Sometimes its hard to find a Loving way to tell people the truth. We need more teachers that are willing to be the difference, a candle that many can be lit from. God Bless You David (Beloved) Taylor (A seamstress just Like Paul) May Your Light Shine For Others. A Blessing for you, if you can understand and make use of this: Your 3 names are your 3 gifts that you must find in yourself to help achieve your true identity, to know yourself. When you find the full identity of Oneself, there Christ will be the Fullness He can be in You and for others.

I have often wondered about the crossover from ' real murder ' to ' playing games that kill ' or even when you enjoy watching crime programs ( the latter one being something I must put my hand up for )
I have had many debates with my son about the issue of the impact, but the issue of ' it not being real ' is a valid one ( on one level ) I know that ' in real life ' he doesn't desire to murder anyone - nor do I. I am not convinced it is a sin - however, there is an issue of distraction and wisdom for the Christian.

One of the biggest ploys of the enemy is to keep people preoccupied, all the while he can distract and keep people away from doing things they could be doing, ultimately he gains something.
However, where do you draw the line - even being continuously active on a forum can be a distraction ( and many are on here some considerable time )
Where do you draw the line with recreation ( which can be anything from writing, reading, watching , playing , socialising online or in the real world ) and drawing near to God in prayer, building up the relationship, study and sharing - is it a personal line ?
Sorry may have gone off topic slightly, but it's just something I was considering as I read the opening post X
