If one does a horrid thing and claims God told him to we blame those crazy christians and their God ...QUOTE (Christina @ Mar 8 2009, 09:40 PM) index.php?act=findpost&pid=70426
See thats the thing about the bible that makes it so special ... if one has no faith no belief its just a book Jesus said this himself when asked why he spoke in Parables he said "Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. If you have no spirtual eyes to see or spirit filled ears to hear you will not understand ... I watch this every day a little faith a little knowledge the deeper the faith the more you read the more you understand the book is living it grows with knowledge as one grows with understanding .... I have never come across a question about life it doesnt some how answer.
And with the above post I wasnt so much answering a question as making a statement about you saying you had read the bible and thought it a good read but not divine

Its good to see that Christians aren't as crazy as I thought. You guys are alright. I especially like the idea of non-religious Christianity. People who don't let the priests/clergy/powersthatbe dictate your beliefs. Have you ever heard of the term Freethinkers? This is people who (though on a different issue) told the clergy not to force their opinions on others.I would really like some answers to previous questions, but this is great (up there ^). I'm learning a whole bunch.Lets talk about a band like Deicide (look them up if you must). My band plays some of their songs, is this Christian?

What about hell? How does one get there? Heaven? Purgutory? As for some stuff like Purgatory... it doesn't exist in God's Words... It's a lie of men to deceive people... Hell? The staff, I, and some others do not believe anybody will burn forever in Hell, because to be honest with you... That's just cruel and will lead people not come to God.
I have to ask are you saying you do not believe in Hell? Because it does mention it quite a bit in the scriptures right? And as for cruel and uncruel surely that should be up to God, after all he has already given Jesus as a sacrifice, if you don't accept him then you take responcibility for your own actions... Or am I wrong?QUOTE (Christina @ Mar 9 2009, 03:24 AM) index.php?act=findpost&pid=70417
I would not devote my life into proving little green men do not exist. I just plain dont believe it therefore its not worth my time ....
They aren't green... they are Greys lol...Also to you Chuck, I didn't really understand the last question, isn't deicide a dethmetal band? And if so how could it be Chrisitian....

Besides, the real Hell does not exist yet... but it doesn't mean it will not happen yet.

My deicide question is: Even though the lyrics are completely anti-god, anti-jesus anti-christian, is it anti-chirstian of me to listen and enjoy?

Allow me to explain something here that may help you understand .... God judges us all by our hearts .... Saved, unsaved... Christian, Non christian ... Its our belief there is no escape from judgement.. God says ALL will be judged ...But his way of Judgement is not our human way ..We can not know a persons heart ...Everyone thinks by listening to men ..its as simple as you sin you go to hell ... Mans error .. What is a sin ?Of course we are told some outright ...but the majority of these are just plain common sense do we need to be told killing another human is wrong or is that written in our psyche some where. Let me ask you does your listening to that music ...form your opinion toward God? ..does it effect how you behave towards others ? ... does it change your heart in a negative way ?

I see. No, I don't hate God, I just don't think she exists. Though I'm raised Christian, I never really got into it. I'm learning a lot about the Christian psyche from your answers.

Well of course I could protest at the she ..but in fact God has no gender as we descibe gender the "he" is simply a label we use because when God use terms like King ect. it causes one to draw a conclusion ..in our smallminds We always reduce things to a human perspective of he and she ...

Again, I agree that reaching for a pronoun is pointless. I don't see much difference between a non-existing male god or a non-existing female one, but I like to switch it up now and again

Well I am uncomfortable calling God with a female pronoun is because when God became born as a human to the world, he was born male. Also before we were humans, all souls was in one gender (Male) because angels married a female human and had kids... in this age so...although it's wrong fully for spirit to marry flesh. I am adamantly against anyone calling God a female because not even one scripture God uses being called by a female pronoun or words (like queen for himself)... And by the way, I prefer no gender later on in life, just not now or any part in my human life.Just don't take it personally.

Roughly what percentage of your friends are theist? Christians? Your own specific denomination? Is the term Fundamentalist offensive?ontinue my conquest for understanding: In response to Christina's definition, so I need not believe that the bible is accurate, nor that any established churches are correct? What about The Holy Ghost? What's the deal with that? Do I need to believe in resurrection or transubstansiation? When someone joins a church, do they implicitly agree with all the social implications involved? Why try to convert an Atheist?Does anyone know why I can't post on other boards? Now, I have tried to read as many arguements for Atheism and for Religion as possible, and then make the best decision. Would a religious person read books like "God Is Not Great" or "The God Delusion" to see side of the coin?I'll pose one more. Are atheist's wicked (other than the Apostasy issue)? Also, what about keeping Kosher? Not trimming the corners of the beards? Is the earth flat?Sun moves around it?Is it 6000 (or so) years old?Evolution yeh or neh?A baby is a human when? I have friends family of all beliefs I dont know the % I believe in God/Jesus Christ I dont nessarily believe in organized denominationsYou do not have to attend any organized church to believe in God, God says where two or more gather in my Name you are in church Church should be a place of learning and fellowship in its base form tecnically you are in church on a website Its our belief we are made of Body mind and soul ... When the flesh body dies the the soul/spirit with its mind /heart continues on We are made in Gods image .. So God is also three in one ... father ..Son .. Holy ghost(spirit) Think of an Egg it is a shell a white and a yolk ... each part can be seperated and used differently .. but its still an egg .. The earth is millions of years old in the Word of God (Bible ) we are not told how old the earth is ... religion(men) says its only 6,000 years oldGod never does ... it been about 6,000 years sense Adam was created ...but Adam is not the earth ....Triming beards kosher ect are ordances and statuetes They were all fulfilled in Christ ... We are now saved by God's grace alone upon repentance ... We can chose to do these things ...but we are not required to do them ... theres some answers for you

Earth is flat? No! It is roundEvolution? No!Sun moves around it? Yes...I don't go to a denomination as well. Why try to convert an Atheist? That depends on what you mean by that. You can be self convert, you can be converted by another person. I was converted by Love.Is a baby human when? Consumption. Why? Otherwise the woman wouldn't be pregnant to begin with and God wouldn't put the baby there to begin with. That's some answers for you.

You may have observed something .... but there is no proof of Evolution ...its a THEROY.. by definition ...No missing link ever found ..Neantherdal man in mapping their DNA genome sequence has been found to have NO human DNA a 4000 year old snail looks like a 10 year old snail ...I truly believe there is a survival of the fittest at work in Nature ... But no evolution as ever been proved ... and frankly the odds of all this occuring by chance is as outragous to me As creationationism is to you ...So its a mute point not worth arguing with a Nonbeliver IMHO.. Niether of us can prove our point to the satifaction of the other .....

I was brought up Christian but grew up as an atheist much to the disappointment of my family. I had my own journey to take and it took me the first 30 years of my life to reach an understanding of who God is.The problem with atheism is that it is not the absence of belief. It is the belief that there is no God. However, everyone has to believe in something. Why else would Richard Dawkins and others go to such extraordinary lengths to convince us that there is no God? What they are trying to do is replace one belief system with another. Most atheists replace the religious view with a scientific one. Since you cannot prove that there is a god then he must not exist. The weakness of there worldview is that they cannot produce a satisfactory explanation of the origin of life or the universe. Evolution explains the mechanics of how species change over time, but it cannot explain how inanimate organic matter can become living. When pushed they may come up with an implausible hypothesis, but that is no more satisfactory because it is something that they can't prove and it like religion must be accepted on faith. For this reason, most atheists are content not to know which is unsatisfactory if you base your belief system on knowledge. The same can be said for the Big Bang theory. The first law of thermodynamics holds that matter and energy cannot be created nor destroyed. If that is the case and we have no reason to think otherwise then the Big Bang cannot produce the universe from nothing. It had to pre-exist according to our physical laws. So in the end, the Big Bang explains nothing. It just begs more questions about pre-existent matter or energy.Again, science fails to explain and atheism has no champion. So if there is no God, then where did everything come from? You can run from God but you can't hide behind evolution or Big Bang theories. So what can you rest on? You can try to pretend that you don't care, but most atheists do care. Most are proud of their intellectualism. They reject God based on it.They see religion as for weak and stupid people who flee to religion out of their ignorance and need. Yet, religious people are happy because they have found something that eludes others. They are content to rest on God's promises and so have no worries or cares. They do not need to know all of the answers, just the answers to the important ones. You can prove that God exists in math and science, but this does not make him God. He is just a mathematical entity. To find out who he is then you have to turn to him and his revelation of himself through his word. This is the starting point of the journey. Next you need to encounter his reality by meeting him in person. This is the beginning of a new reality for you that shapes who you are, what you are here for, and where you are headed. In short, you have a purpose. As an atheist I did not understand the reality of God and I felt a hole in my life that nothing could fill. I was always questioning and challenging and not getting the answers that I wanted. Once I accepted Christ it was like the scales were removed from my eyes and I just knew with a certainty. The hole was filled and I knew who I was for the first time. You can intellectualize God and even come to point where you accept his existence, but if you never meet him then you are missing out on the greatest thing there is. Nothing else compares. Charles Templeton is famous because he turned his back on his faith and became an agnostic after thinking he knew God. He was an intellectual and talked himself out of belief. I don't think that he ever met God. Otherwise he could never have turned away. That is why it is essential to get past intellectualising and start living what your mind has come to accept.

Deicide is anti-christian. That's a fact. Anything that redicules Jesus is anti-Christian. Most metal bands are that way. It sucks cause there's come talented bands.QUOTE
Roughly what percentage of your friends are theist?
Christians? Your own specific denomination? Not one single one of my friends are Christian. Some believe in Jesus, but hold more of a Deist stance. The others don't believe in jack squat.QUOTE
Is the term Fudamentalist offensive?
Not to me. Although I don't agree with the tactics that some of them use, or agree with all of their views.QUOTE
ontinue my conquest for understanding: In response to Christina's definition, so I need not believe that the bible is accurate, nor that any established churches are correct?
If you believe in Christ you have to belive the Bible. There are many versions though. Some not as accurate as the others. It does take some time and study as certain phrases can't be conveyed correctly from language to language. IE, Greek to English, etc.. You don't have to believe than any established church is correct, or that a denomination is correct. It serves better to know the ones that aren't correct, as they teach something other than what's in the bible.QUOTE
What about The Holy Ghost? What's the deal with that?
The Spirit of God. He's the one that ministers to us and teaches us and sanctifies us. The old english used the word ghost inplace of spirit.QUOTE
Do I need to believe in resurrection or transubstansiation?
If you are Christian you have to believe in Resurrection, if there were no resurrection there's no salvation. Transubstansiation, is a man made deal and doesn't have anything to do with Christianity.QUOTE
When someone joins a church, do they implicitly agree with all the social implications involved?
Nope, as you can see on this board, many of us disagree in one area or another, but that's why we are supposed to get together, so we can learn and help eachother and worship.QUOTE
Why try to convert an Atheist?
I never try to convert an Atheist. I think if you're currious you'll ask. I might drop lines here or there, but never to set out intentionally. But, if anyone does try to convert, it's assuradly out of love. We want everyone to believe in Jesus and have salvation.QUOTE
Does anyone know why I can't post on other boards?
What other boards?QUOTE
Now, I have tried to read as many arguements for Atheism and for Religion as possible, and then make the best decision. Would a religious person read books like "God Is Not Great" or "The God Delusion" to see side of the coin?
Absolutely, many Christians read books like those as refferences and to understand the people they may be talking to or "preaching" to. But, to decide on faith, rarely. Most Christians who read stuff like that end up having their faith reaffirmed due to the "facts" or what ever in them.QUOTE
I'll pose one more. Are atheist's wicked (other than the Apostasy issue)?
According to the word of God (bible) All are wicked. That's why we have Jesus, to cleanse our sins.QUOTE
Also, what about keeping Kosher?
Just for Jews. However, if a Christian want's to "keep Kosher" they're more than welcome to, and should do so to the glory of God. But as a requirement, nope, if you wanna eat cuttle fish or even dogs and cats for that matter, go ahead.QUOTE
Not trimming the corners of the beards?
Jewish deal, same as above.QUOTE
Is the earth flat?
Now this question is just sill to me. No, It's tryanloid, and proven by pythigoreans theorem. Of course it's Spherical.QUOTE
Sun moves around it?
No, it only moves in right angles, and only at night, so it doesn't melt the corners off the triangle. Are you kidding me?QUOTE
Is it 6000 (or so) years old?
That's debatable. Some believe it is, some, such as Christian Scientists, (not Scientology btw) Believe it's millions of years old.QUOTE
Evolution yeh or neh?
Neh. I do believe in adaptation, wich seem to cause something similar to evlolution. Then again, some Christians do believe it.QUOTE
A baby is a human when? (conception, blood flow, nervous system? Birth?)
As soon as 2 cells join, it's a life. No different than if you studied evolution, and the group of cells that they claim started "life" are life.QUOTE
Separation of church and state?
I agree with it and I don't agree with it. I think Christians should use their right to vote and make decisions about what we feel is right. I also want it separate, because the Government shouldn't control any ones beliefs, or establish a religion.QUOTE
Nationalism?
Many different forms of nationalism. I'll address a couple of them. Nationalism such as the Nazis were or many Racists today are, no, that's wrong,. Nationalism as far as, loving ones country and not letting others in, well, that's wrong in my opinion too. As children of God, we should welcome anyone in that wants in, either to help them, or maybe if they're not saved they will be by something they experience here.QUOTE
Capitalism?
File capitalism under greed. If you study some of the early Christian villages they closely resemble a form of Communism. In the sense that they shared everything. As Christians we are to regard the things of this life as temporary, or more like we're borrowing them and don't own them.I've left out Scripture as I don't see that you're looking for them just yet. Also, I'm not meaning to speak for every single believer and these are just my opinions of how we are as Christian.

It is not our responsibilty to convert anyone, it is Gods and His alone, lest we should take His glory. It is our responsibilty to share the truth, it is then up to the receiver as to wheter they receive it or not, then when they like us are judged they will be without excuse, they could never say, they didnt hear, we sow God waters and He reaps the harvest. As for evolution, it only removes it does not create. But it is funny how people who claim to not belive in God will do anything in there power to convince themselves that He dosent. If God does not exist, then you have nothing to convince yourself of, do you ??
