We are a mirror image here Pat. My small group is just for an hour and a half bi-weekly and nothing outside of it. Same in the Church I attend :( But, we have each other on here and I never felt more connected than on this site. Praise God!
I visited one this past Sunday that I attend periodically but it was another disappointment. I know one couple there fairly well but the pastor has yet to even greet me personally. I could go to him and start a conversation, but that doesn't feel right. I guess the fact that I am about 30 years his senior plays a part. This weekend I will visit a new place, but I don't expect a lot. Perhaps I will be pleasantly surprised!

God grant that all types of forum uses can blend together to best reflect the diversity of the 'Body of Christ'.
But when they can't the 'ignore' option can be activated.

I'm going to my 'usual' church this Sunday and I am taking somebody who has never been before. She was brought up in one of the traditional religions but has never known Jesus as her Saviour. So I am praying that God will 'speak' to her. He already has moved her to accept my invitation and to read the booklets I gave her.

Well hopefully God will bless both of you. I will keep you in prayer!

My difficulty is that God has not directed me to a new "church home". I have had one of those most of my life. This last one they did not really ban or excommunicate me, but what they did to my pastor smote my heart. I could never return unless they tried to make that right. Thus far it seems that the ones responsible do not recognize the possibility of any error on their part. I know I am not always right, but on this one I know that God is the One who removed me from there. Will He show me another place? Perhaps but I do not want to get ahead Him. He is the Leader, my Leader, my God...

Ahahaha! Not sure that would go over very well! I have lost my balance because of injuries and sometimes look like I have been drinking (because I'm too proud to use a cane  ) The matriarch at the Church I was attending at that time pulled me aside and said, and not so kindly, "have you been drinking"? I was so taken aback and embarrassed, so I tried to give her the short story of my nerve damage in my lower legs and loss of all metatarsal padding on my right foot...I don't think she believed me! She pretty much ignored me from then on. So glad I left that place!
My goodness. Why couldn't she ask if you were okay, if you needed any help? Why assume the worst? LOL, maybe she is nipping something herself and thinks everyone has her weaknesses.

The trouble with us Christians is that we are all human and can be thoughtless or judgemental but Jesus loves us anyway. And although it can be difficult and go against what we feel we should be able to accept people for who they are.

Somebody suggested that just as we find beauty in trees of all shapes and sizes - even damaged ones - we should be able to look at other people in the same way. Seeing them just as they are and accepting them warts and all.

Hahaha. People will judge without knowing the facts, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ... it was not a very warm Church.

And she was a big wig? Was she a big wig because other people adored you or because they were frightened of her?

I don't know if I've ever wrote about the "evil imagination" on this forum; but she's a prime example of assuming the worst about people. I tend to avoid people like the plague who assume the worst a lot. Mo matter what you do, they can come up with a negative spin. If they don't have the guts to say something to your face, they'll start rumors behind your back.

It might have been fun to breath in her face. Then lean further in to smell hers too, "Now can I smell you?" No smell of booze on her breath? How about mint? People often use mint to mask the smell of booze.

that emo feeling that we label Holy Spirit? Didnt begin to feel counterfeit to me for a long time, was somewhat surprised when i found others who felt the same way. Might be a reaction to other hypocrisy even...doubt it, tho.
Satan appears as an angel of light apparently nonetheless
What is an emo feeling? Cryptic posts are not my forte.

My dad spent a few years going from church to church till he finally realized that was never where he was meant to be and that God had being calling him out for a while. We are His church a spiritual people, but we like to belong, we follow Christ alone. I quit following after man a long time ago. Come out of her "My" people... You cannot fit a square peg into a round hole..

God bless

Lol...Yeah, she was a bossy woman and, she never even acknowledged me from that point on. I suppose I should swallow my pride and use the stupid cane ...before someone in my new place of worship starts thinking the same thing! So much presumption in the Church's today :(

Yes, I recognized that I did not belong there for the rest of time for quite a few years. I belonged while my pastor was in place because it was for that man and his wife that God brought my wife and me there in the first place. His wife died in 2012 and we thought... "well now our work here is almost finished. Our pastor was an old man and won't live much longer..." Well he lives on. In October of 2018 they finished what they'd been working on for a long time. They put him out of that assembly. If it was God's will, it was the left hand of God.

Now I meet with my old pastor every Wednesday morning in his little mobile home. We have a short Bible study together and we pray together, but God is not finished with him yet. He is a young 94 years of age. Now he is out and I am out [of that assembly] but we are in with God. Where from here? God knows! One step at a time!

Honestly what I am hoping to find is a person who would enjoy sitting down over a cup of coffee or whatever and simply talking about the things of God. I have been in several different places called churches most of my life but can count on one hand the number of people I have encountered [not on the Internet] who were interested in joining me once in a while like that.

Strange that I have one now who is a friend of sorts, but at times I can hardly tolerate him. When we lived in the same town with him he was at the door almost every day. God blessed us when we moved 50 miles away. When he comes to visit now every few months my wife goes into the another room and closes the door until he is gone. I have found several on the Internet, but not one lives within easy driving distance.

Believe me even Pia and I have our differences, sometimes i dont want to talk to her, but as I told her, we need to its our lifeline to keep Christ alive, so we dont forget.
