, but not the Bible.
My dad after I got saved used to tell me I need to know the bible to get saved, well dad I said, you gave me yours after I got saved. So you see, I need to know the bible, not for my salvation nor to bring people to Christ, but simply to argue with "bible bashers". Men think because they know the bible they know Christ, but all they have is a head filled with bible knowledge, and than they dont believe it. I was told by many, its all we have, so I would like to know what happened to our promise from Jesus,

Joh_16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

If the bible is all one has, than where is Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit, are they accounted for nothing.

What was so amazing about the thief on the cross was that he knew Jesus was about to die, and still asked Him to take him with him into His KINGDOM.

But what did the disciples say? Acts 1:6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” Thomas didn't even believe in the resurrection! And people think the thief couldn't have been baptized when it was so obvious that he had hung onto every word out of Jesus' mouth during His ministry!
A woman who didn't even know Jesus, was healed just because she believed the pulling of the holy Spirit and trusted that she only had to touch His clothes. Was she baptized? Had she been a follower of any sort?

What was more amazing was He whether he knew it or not, understood, what was happening, revelation from God.

Luk 23:40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
Luk 23:41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.

Most certainly! He saw something that most others did not see. They could see the man Jesus bleeding and dying and let their fleshly way express their doubts and even mock him. This man saw better than all of them just who Jesus was .

But what did the disciples say? Acts 1:6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” Thomas didn't even believe in the resurrection! Jesus was always seeing the hearts of people. He saw the heart of thief. That man was ready as few today among us on this forum, it so seems to me, are ready!

Why? Don't you know the players in important events?

Q: Same night - who cut off someone's ear with a sword?
Q: Same night - who betrayed Jesus?

The answer is found in scripture here: -

John 18:1-11: - Betrayal and Arrest in Gethsemane
(Matt 26:47-56; Mark 14:43-52; Luke 22:47-53)

18:1 When Jesus had spoken these words, He went out with His disciples over the Brook Kidron, where there was a garden, which He and His disciples entered. 2 And Judas, who betrayed Him, also knew the place; for Jesus often met there with His disciples. 3 Then Judas, having received a detachment of troops, and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, came there with lanterns, torches, and weapons. 4 Jesus therefore, knowing all things that would come upon Him, went forward and said to them, "Whom are you seeking?"

5 They answered Him, "Jesus of Nazareth."

Jesus said to them, "I am He." And Judas, who betrayed Him, also stood with them. 6 Now when He said to them, "I am He," they drew back and fell to the ground.

7 Then He asked them again, "Whom are you seeking?"

And they said, "Jesus of Nazareth."

8 Jesus answered, "I have told you that I am He. Therefore, if you seek Me, let these go their way," 9 that the saying might be fulfilled which He spoke, "Of those whom You gave Me I have lost none."

10 Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus.

11 So Jesus said to Peter, "Put your sword into the sheath. Shall I not drink the cup which My Father has given Me?"

Willie T provided the following answer: -

Well, Peter and Malchus and Judas are named in those.

and also included the high priest's servant's name, Malchus who lost his ear because of Peter's actions, but we also know in Luke 22:51 this: -

Luke 22:51: - 51 But Jesus answered and said, "Permit even this." And He touched his ear and healed him.

Shalom

My testimony has me going to church for 30 years, learning the Bible and the commandments. I can still quote the Ten Commandments word for word. And yet, I wasn't born again. I didn't have the Spirit in me empowering me not to sin. Finally in 1977 I repented and truly wanted to be scrubbed clean of all sin's power over me, and I was filled to overflowing with God's Spirit. My life took 180 degree about face, and finally had the Holy Spirit inside me. And I've been Spirit-learning ever since. Just going to church isn't enough.

I don't know, there isn't enough information. She had faith like the Centurion, but the thief on the cross had much more spiritual knowledge that could have only come from the Spirit, like when Peter said of Jesus, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

I'd really think hard before I made a statement like that last sentence. I don't think it's too accurate.

Its an accurate statement based on his consistent lack of knowledge, let alone fruit. And especially his constant attacks on everyone.

Problem with church is it will fill your head than Christ has to remove it, filling you head with religion leaves little place for Jesus, which is why for so many, all they can talk about is the bible. Its all they know.

Need an example, I started a topic for those who love Christ, go see how many posted there, that shows you where mens hearts are.

Mar_7:6 He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

I've been in three drastically different from each other denominations. Now I don't claim any of them, just Spirit-filled. The Spirit was the difference in knowing about Jesus, and abiding in Jesus.

Correct. :)

But when the Seed came, promised to Abraham through Isaac, and fulfilled His mission, then died, the resurrection brought the confirmation that the New Covenant was about to begin. Then when Jesus ascended He told the disciples to wait in Jerusalem for His Spirit to descend upon all of them. On the Day of Pentecost, Abraham's covenant officially ended, and circumcision as a sign was no longer in force. Now circumcision is of the spirit and not of the flesh.

Oh... I thought Abraham's covenant officially continues at the death of Jesus. Hebrews 9:17 says,

17 For a testament is of force where there hath been death:
for it doth never avail while he that made it liveth.

Meaning when I die, depending on what I have in my will and testament determines who will get
my inheritance. But it doesn't happen until I die. Galatians 3:29 says,

29 And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of
Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs
to you.

The Promise or inheritance wasn't in effect until Jesus died. What was that Promise to Abraham?
Acts 3:25 & 26 says,

25 Ye are the children of the prophets and of the covenant which God
made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, " And in thy seed shall
all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.
26 Unto you first God, having raised up his son Jesus, sent him to bless
you, in turning away everyone of you from his iniquities.

This was established on the Day of Pentecost when the rushing mighty wind filled
all the house where they were sitting and they all received the Holy Ghost.

What a God! What a Plan!

nope!! mark!!

Mark wasn't there, only Peter, James and John. Mark wasn't even one of the disciples.

32 Then they came to a place which was named Gethsemane; and He said to His disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” 33 And He took Peter, James, and John with Him, and He began to be troubled and deeply distressed.

Exactly, that's what I said. Jesus lived under the law perfectly, was sacrificed, and the resurrection and ascension brought in the New Covenant which officially was given on the Day of Pentecost.

Jesus is the Seed, but it wasn't His birth that put an end to the Old Covenant, it was His death.
