The light of the body of Christ is the Spirit: therefore when thine Spirit is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine spirit is man, thy body also is full of darkness.

Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.

If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light.

That doesn't look right to me. . . . You omitted the part about the "single eye" and added some other words.

I could care less how it looks to you.
That doesn't surprise me since it seems you don't care what the Bible says. Maybe you also might not care then if I continue. I find it sad -- no, pathetic -- when someone reads something in the Bible and then can't quote it right. It means he didn't duplicate what he read. He changed what he read into something else. It's so odd to me when people say they believe the Bible is so true but then pay so little attention to the words they read.

For the sake of other readers, here's what the two Gospels really say.

Matthew 6:22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

Luke 11:34 The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.

It is you and people like you without the Holy Spirit, that don't care what the Bible says neither can they interpret spiritual things because they don't have the Spirit of God.

nope the Word is the Light:

Jesus is the Word made flesh:
Joh 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

that is the Light:
Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
Joh 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Joh 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

even according to Jesus:
Joh_8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Now you know I don't have the Holy Spirit -- and you say I don't care what the Bible says when I object to you misquoting it? Hmmm.

As they resisted Moses, so does this wicked generation resist the truth.

I got the impression that Jesus is the light of the world, not the Holy Spirit. He is the one that leads us into all truth.

My question is why did they not wish to look upon the image he hosted?
To love the children of God is the evidence of having the Holy ghost. Moreover, receiving the Holy Spirit comes with a vision of Christ crucified. As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness likewise was the son of God lifted up.

So now which is it?

"Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." John 8:12

"But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." John 14:26

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid." Matt 5:14

Simple. Jesus is the light of the world and the Holy Spirit is the teacher that will lead us into all truth. When I am studying scripture, I do not ask Jesus what it means, I ask the Holy Spirit to show me the meaning of the words.

As we are to be like Jesus it follows that we are to be light.

It is you and people like you without the Holy Spirit, that don't care what the Bible says neither can they interpret spiritual things because they don't have the Spirit of God.
1 Corinthians 2:14 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.

One's self cannot interpret spiritual things, even if they did have the Spirit of God within them. We cannot use our 'self' to interpret, understand, and know the Truth of spiritual things, for the mind of the self is distorted with issues and agendas for itself. The best we can do is not trust self, but have absolute faith in what we know is true within us, the spirit of God within all human beings. The only way to 'know' the truth is to vacate self from consciousness and have our innermost being take the place of self. Then, and only then, does our consciousness become true. Truth becomes expressed in our thoughts and feelings. In other words, Truth interprets truth, and not by our untrue self. That is why Jesus said:

John 12:49 For I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me to say all that I have spoken.

Matthew 10:20 for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
