Greetings,What's the reasoning behind Christian women not being allowed to lead Bible study classes? (Male students). Why does it matter whether it's a man or woman when it comes to knowledge? I found this very strange. Please clarify.- Regards.

Women are allowed to lead bible study classes, and should be due to many people these days that doesn't teach God's Words... Ha, we have a female moderator here and she clearly teaches God's Words. It's not a sin, because we are told that...Joel 2:28 - And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:Acts 2:17 - And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

Churches differ on the interpretation of certain passages of scripture. We are all equal in Christ, but some churches take the position that women do not lead men due to things that Paul wrote. However, it must be pointed out that Paul was dealing with specific problems in the early church and he was trying to restore order and dignity to the services. My position is that these were not meant to be hard and fast rules. Paul repeatedly says that we are free from the law and live by the Holy Spirit. This would appear to be contradictory if we interpret the things that he advocated regarding women as being written in stone. You have to remember that women in his day were not educated either. These were unequal times. I see them as guiding principles in order to meet the circumstances of his day. We can learn from them and use similar solutions to our own problems which may be the same or different. The Catholic Church takes the other view and many protestant ones such as the Brethren do as well. That does not make them right or wrong. Just different. As long as people agree and it does not cause division then it should not be an issue. I left the Brethren church over this issue. I saw it as hypocrisy. I would watch the women nudge their husbands and point to a spot in the Bible and the husband would stand and read the passage because the women were not allowed. I figured that it was time to join the twentieth century and left. Some people like tradition and like traditional stereotypical roles. I don't.
