If this is a matter of keeping Law, or doing what is right, they missed an awful lot of things. But if this is a matter of accommodating the sensibilities of others, then it becomes a matter of not going against the conscience of another person.

This is no matter of conscience; this a matter of

In the Apostle's letter, I see what we know we are not to do, fornication, and what was never prohibited to Gentiles, eating strangled animals.

What is clear from their letter is just what the apostles wrote in so many words, that they were happy with the CHRISTIANS' WORSHIP "EVERY SABBATH", "Moses", the Law, "being read" to THEM, "EVERY SABBATH IN THE CHURCH-GATHERING-TOGETHER EVERYWHERE" Christians assembled "to hear the Word of God" the Gospel of Jesus Christ--

--to which the apostles as a post-script ADDED their warning to the CHURCH--, to shun and denounce any semblance of PAGAN IDOLATRY. They prohibited those things literally by spelling them out to the Church, DEFINING those HEATHEN GENTILE PAGAN UNIMAGINABLE SINFUL PRACTICES such as the <Mosaic law> in eternity would not have prescribed for anybody.

WHAT DO PEOPLE THINK of God's Word "of old".... [sjjjj "read" by Christians--sjjjj!) it's too horrible to think! With sympathetic words and accommodating arguments they with utter glee hid behind prim faces, enjoy and celebrate their victorious obliteration of the Sabbath of the Lord. That's all... no more... just the Sabbath <proven with Scripture> is for the Jews only, is not for Gentiles, not for Christians, NOT FOR US!

No wonder GOD said the Sabbath shall be for a sign . . .

Ones behaviour reveals ones core. Hypocrisy is when ones behaviour is not consistent with ones profession.
Is it really concluded that nobody keeps count? Can we boast of acting with love in our hearts yet break God's Commandments?

The danger is substituting presumption for faith....Are you really thankful for God's Grace by calling keeping his Commandments legalism??

Any rope will hold until it is tested. The testing time is coming upon us faster than is realised.....and who will be able to stand?

A very good word brother. We are told in the last days false teachers shall rise and turn the grace of God into lasciviousness. We must resist the old lie "you shall not surely die".

Ro 8:12-14 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Not sure how to apply what you had shared with Matthew 11:28-29 when Jesus was talking about learning of Him so religious people can rest in Him as saved. In context, we read about how the Father is the One that draws men unto the Son to reveal His Son to them so they can believe in Him.

“learn of Him” is that not what the one resting at His feet was doing while the other was encumbered about with trouble over many things. Doesn’t matter though. Could ask did the Father draw her to rest and learn at his feet?Did the Father draw the woman with the oil to anoint Him for His burial? Did the Father draw legion with the many demons out of the caves to fall at his feet? How did some recognize Him and others did not.

speaking about the Sabbath and to enter into His rest. What is the “one thing is needful”? John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
And,
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
^ is this not what she was doing in sitting at His feet in He even told the Pharisees countless times He is the Kingdom and the kingdom is in Him and Him in the Kingdom.

What part “shall not be taken away”? when He says store up treasure in heaven where man can’t break in and steal it and moth doesn’t consume it?

Again, doesn’t matter although (imo) there is bread there in “one thing is needful”

So glad we can all live according to the box we choose to live in, instead of the one everyone else wants us to live in.

It's very nice to know I can love each person here, no matter the words they choose.

May God bless you all with great love and patience as you grow in Christ and in His peace.

I get the analogy now, but for how learning of Him will find rest for their souls ( salvation ) could not happen then, since it was before His ascension. The invitation was to the religious of the world for how they may be able to rest from their religious strivings when they learn of Him as their rest in Matthew 11:28-30.

Learning of Him before His ascension was needful and valued so that after His ascension, that treasure was received at their salvation moment.

Um . . . I observe the Sabbath as shown in Hebrews, myself. A complete rest from trying to be justified by our own works.

But you paint quite the picture there.

Your box still contains just your ideas against Scripture. But may I ask, Did you notice, You believe nothing new or different from the old Sundayers' beliefs? You ONLY believe what the church Universal, the Sunday believers ALWAYS BELIEVED AND PROPAGATED. Sorry to disappoint you, MANY and great names like John McArthur were before you. Ask your soul's mate here, Preacher4Truth said: . Don't worry he only pretends he doesn't like you. I like you more than any.

Luther once told someone to go and sin freely ... or something to the effect. And I think his advice helped.
If I've got it right, Luther's quote was Sin boldly, something like that?

I've never really thought that was quite right, but I'm still not really understanding what you are saying in this conversation, sorry!

Much love!

But you paint quite the picture there.

Um . . . I think you confuse "the Rest of God" [katapausis tou Theou] WHICH IS "JESUS", WHO "GAVE THEM ("the People of God") REST"— which "Rest" was and always will be HIMSELF! I think you confuse THIS "Rest" with or for "a Sabbath Day's rest left [Sabbatismos apoleipetai] for the Church the People of God [tohi Laohi tou Theou]"— "a Sabbath Day's rest THEREFORE REMAINING [Sabbatismos apa apoleipetai]" -- because, "IF JESUS GAVE THE REST, there THEREFORE is a Sabbath Day's rest [Sabbatismos] left for the People of God" the Church. That's what I think you've got mixed up.

What I also SEE you have confused in your mind, is the <Sabbath> which you suppose, is <<a complete rest from trying to be justified by our own works>>, in other words, a 'sabbath' supposedly a 'rest' supposedly kept or <tried> to be kept or <rested>— a 'sabbath' supposedly a 'rest' not given or "rested" or "left" by "JESUS" or by God, but BY US <<by our own works>>. That's what I'm sure you've also got complete wrong and confused.

I think I see what you are saying here.

This is the passage from Young's Literal LITV,

6 since then, it remaineth for certain to enter into it, and those who did first hear good news entered not in because of unbelief --
7 again He doth limit a certain day, `To-day,' (in David saying, after so long a time,) as it hath been said, `To-day, if His voice ye may hear, ye may not harden your hearts,'
8 for if Joshua had given them rest, He would not concerning another day have spoken after these things;
9 there doth remain, then, a sabbatic rest to the people of God,
10 for he who did enter into his rest, he also rested from his works, as God from His own.

He distinguishes that this is speaking of Joshua who led the people into the land. The writer is demonstrating that the Sabbath rest did not truly give them rest, as David later said, Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.

Much love!

There's no doubt in my mind he's wrong with <Joshua> and also with the Subjunctive translation. The Text supposes nothing uncertain but absolutely certain. [much more to point out, but this is not the time]

Mark, "Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts". Compare "in the day of provocation", the first time, in Genesis 3...verse 8... the day THERE, "the Seventh Day GOD THUS CONCERNING SPAKE ... BY THE SON" then already. Just saying.

Genesis 3:8 "And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden."

Hebrews 3
8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.

I'm not sure I'm seeing the connection between these . . .

"the Seventh Day GOD THUS CONCERNING SPAKE ... BY THE SON"

I've been trying to find this part, above, but all I can find is this:

Hebrews 4
3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

Is this the place you have in mind?

If that's right, my question is, as you've said, "spake . . . by the Son", how do you come to that? Or is this from a different place?

Much love!
