Sounds like a good start to me! Maybe some dehydrated stuff...fruit, meat, fish...

@Enoch 111, since New Zealand is about half way between the equator and the Antarctic circle and Canada has the Artic Circle passing through the top quarter of Canada, snow is not a normally occurring phenomena in the northern portion of New Zealand. In the northern portion of NZ, no part is more than around 50 kms. from the influence of the Pacific Ocean. There are snow fields on the Northern Island but they are on the upper reaches of the mountains in the centre of the North Island. Your contextual experiences in Canada are very different to the contextual experiences of Angelina living in New Zealand.

New Zealand is on the Rim of Fire in the southern Pacific Ocean and is often referred to as the shaky islands because it was formed by the movement of the tectonic plates pushing upwards together with the active volcanos that dot their landscape. In recent years NZ has experienced both earthquakes and volcanos erupting and I can understand the need to prepare for significant disruptions within the life of a person living in NZ. How that disruption to life while living in NZ will occur is not hard to imagine and if People who have an ear for God's prompting, sense that they should prepare for disruption to their normal daily living by the stocking up of provisions, etc. then it may be wise to heed such Godly counsel and warnings.

Shalom

My understanding of prophecy is no doubt very different, or perhaps just a little different, from most here.
We are currently witnessing some very strange weather and climate patterns... Extremes seldom experienced but today becoming more commonplace... Record temperatures both high and low, and unseasonal. Storms, earthquakes, volcanic activity... Which I think will continue to worsen. These things, natural disasters, we can with wisdom and coming sense, prepare for. Not that we will remain unaffected, but we can always at least give ourselves and our loved ones a fighting chance.
It's what comes later as a result of these disasters that we are unprepared for, and we have no experience in handling. Trouble beyond our experience, and beyond our imagination. Satan making war with the saints. Uniting the entire world against us. Using government legislation to counter our obedience to Christ. A global spiritual union of church and state claiming to be the arbiters of Truth and reason... And setting itself as the corrector of the heretics, those final remnant who keep the commandments of God and have the faith of Jesus. Only two worldviews present. Babylon the Great and Jerusalem. Two spiritual powers, one true, the other a deception. Both claiming to be the real. But one a counterfeit. The counterfeit accusing the true of being a demonic filled evil abomination. Are you ready for that? How can you prepare for the entire planet setting itself as your enemy and having the licence to kill you on sight?

hi Bl,
"How can you prepare for the entire planet setting itself as your enemy and having the licence to kill you on sight?"

With a lot of prayers of faith for safety, courage and strength! Especially if one has small children. Scary stuff. But our God is much bigger than all of that which is coming upon us. :)

"As in the days of Noah."

Which is a little bit less scary than has been imagined. Earth in upheaval for sure. But otherwise, rather than a building up on every level, a winding down; a folding back to the One (Jesus), rather than an unfolding of the one (Adam)...as in the days of Christ.

My conclusion is that whatever we personally cannot cope with, God will. What we can do now in preparation is developing our relationship with our Savior. Getting to know Him... Becoming more like Him... For by beholding we are changed into His image. Then when laws are passed that are offensive and a contradiction to our faith, we won't compromise. But getting to know Jesus is essential, because in these last days the greatest threat to our faith is deception. We rely too much on others. Paul wrote 3/4 of the new testament and people who heard him were called noble for ensuring he was speaking according to scripture. (OT)
Too many of us listen to a preacher and put him on a pedestal thinking he must be correct in everything because 10,000 people listen to him every Sunday and he has a television ministry. We don't know our Bibles well enough. I reckon if a mega church pastor asked his congregation to look up the book of Hezekiah in the Bible half of them would spend the next two minutes scouring their Bible for it, and then want to buy the pastor's version after failing to find it.
Babylon the Great and the coming global aspostate church/state union will establish religious laws which will contradict the scriptures. And the vast majority of Christians will be deceived because they don't bother to study for themselves and prefer to accept majority opinion as Truth.

WORD BL!!!
Much agreed with you here. It will be just like the days of Noah, as Scott said above. Everyone doing their thing, Christians included...it is clear to see that very many Christians will be deceived. And, that will be adding some lashes to those who never prepared their sheep properly.
I also think that the rapture theory has made many a bit too comfortable, one of them would be my sister. She's so convinced we're all gonna be whisked out of here before all "the bad stuff" happens  .

Ok I didn't read all the posts on this. I think there's being prepared which is good, and being paranoid which isn't. I live in the woods and have quite a few survival skills.
But if push comes to shove, I hope to use those skills to help my friends, relatives and neighbors, not just myself.

That "apostate" stuff goes greatly deeper than the mega church and the state church. It also includes many misconceptions of what most would consider sound doctrine as taught by the early church whom Jesus said He was "somewhat against."

Much like Israel being taught things due to the hardness of their hearts, that Jesus had to clarify, like putting away their wives, and even thinking evil thoughts. We have our own group of misconceptions for not fully embracing the renewing of our minds to the things of God.

Almost every prophecy of these end times is tainted with the thinking and the minds of men and the beggarly elements of this world. Israel slayed those sent to them by the sword, and we have slayed those sent to us by the word, the words and teachings of men. Instead of hearing what the Spirit said to the churches, most have only heard what men said.

Oh, most assuredly. The vast majority of Christianity today already submits to false doctrine which when enacted into state law, they will then use to persecute their fellow Christians who don't subscribe to it. A repeat of the Cain and Abel scenario. Brother against brother. And the issue... Worship.

Yep.
KJV Revelation 13
A Beast from the Earth
11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

The only way any beast or nation can enforce any type of worship is through it's legislative power.

Amen sister, at least you have the right attitude. I'm not sure how I'd go if the power went out for a few days for instance. I do have a gas cooker and could probably heat things up with that. We have some great rivers around my area and I have a few water tablets available...and I also have an array of candles and fire starters. ;)
I'd recommend trying to find things that have advantages no matter what. I lend to people at Kiva (don't know if you ever heard of that), and several farmers in Africa are now using waste grass and other vegetable matter along with manure -- more or less whatever organic stuff they have no use for -- to make their own "gas." They use something called a biodigester. Some of those are very reasonably priced. I've read some people in other countries also use them to recycle household rubbish to fuel their gas stoves. Instead of flushing your toilet and having the waste go into a river, you can make fuel out of it.

I know there are some biodigesters for sale in New Zealand; but some may be for farmers with lots of waste -- they may be too large and costly for average household use. My guess is prices will continue to drop and smaller units will come on the market.

You could also look into the price of solar panels. Again, I don't know what kind of solar panels are available in New Zealand; but you might find something that would suit you well. I found out at Kiva that some people were interested in only little ones. One man wanted one so his children could study at night. I believe some people in Africa are buying smaller ones to recharge their cellphones -- indeed some enterprising people are buying solar powered panels and going into business recharging other people's phones.

You wouldn't need to go solar and off-grid completely; but you might find some reasonably priced panels that would provide enough essential electricity just in case of outages.

Ah, yes, worship of the flesh (beast) as opposed to worship in spirit and in truth.

No. Wrong context. Worship or submission to the global religious power that enforces it's Mark upon all mankind. The mark being a counterfeit to the seal of God in the forehead.
The only contexts are good and evil.
