How do you know your saved??
^ OP

Via a True heartfelt Confession of Belief:
"Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God."

From a mans True Hearts Thoughts...
(Not the MIND,
Not From the Logical cyphering of the MIND,
Not to Gain advantages between man and man.
Examples...
Gaining a business deal, between men,
Gaining a Church membership,
Gaining a spouse,
IOW..."giving an appearence" of being "Saved" to gain "trust" of others who "are" Saved.

A true Confession between A man AND God...wraps it up...
It is confessing Belief:
In Jesus
In God
In Christ
In Jesus is the Christ
In God is Living
In God the Father
In Jesus Christ is the Son of God

A confession of a man, before men, "for the purpose of gaining Trust of other men," is a false Confession.

Other men MAY be fooled, (maybe initially / maybe for years)

However...

God is NOT Fooled...He know a mans Heart and He knows a man's Mind and He knows the difference....and so does the Individual man.

There are men...and even Preachers...
WHO have confessed after Years of going and participating in their church...they NEVER Truly Believed!

Men may be fooled...but God knew all along, their deception and Lie.

Glory to God,
Taken

We are not talking politics, yet if we were talking politics that would be right.
You didn't answer the question. Who are these liberals who believe we still sin? I would have a hard time calling Southern Baptists, for example, liberal in their theology.

Started at the beginning of the Reformation. It is not just one denomination.

Yes...with the self-justification by human beliefs. Luther was frustrated that God wouldn't visit Him...so he turned to the bible to look for relief that way. He put together a theory from selective verses that appeal to people who want to be saved...as in..hey you want to be saved? Well, I figured out a way to feel that way!

And it really caught on!o_O

Self-serve gas stations and fast food franchises followed soon after.

It's a huge jump from a person believing the bible...which is a good thing and wise....to claiming to be eternally saved for it....which is very presumptuous and kind of negates the previous wisdom.

Are you so sure it started there? What I find is those who claim sinlessness aren't sinless. So they divide sins into little categories, of ok sins and bad, or mortal sins. This way, they can believe they keep themselves righteous, instead of believing all their righteousness comes from Christ.

So we are all damned? Not according to scripture. We can know with confidence that we will inherit eternal life.

I was in a church years ago where the pastor confessed he was never called to the ministry. To him it was just a JOB:eek:.
Pretty sad.

My name is OLIGOS

Shocking, but true...
It is Long-Standing Pastors
And
the huge Mega Church Pastors with thousands of members that really catches the attention of the public, when it's Pastor...
Admits never having had Believed.

It is gut wrenching to the MEMBERS who had trusted a fraud.

UGH!

Glory to God,

One must understand God's ways so as not to fall under God's judgment. Look at your present boastful attitude. Look how you seek to justify yourself by your bible reading.

Jesus died for the sins of the whole world...but He did not cover our attitude that leaves our pride and carnal ways intact.

What have our sins brought us to? Have they made us broken or contrite in spirit? Or have they made us proud of our heritage?

Look at who God justifies...the broken and shamed sinner. The prodigal son saw himself as lower than a servant. The publican couldn't even look up to heaven...so ashamed he was of himself.

Is that our attitude? or does our flesh remain in charge and claim great things for ourselves? Are we trying to enjoy the sacrifice of Jesus....or are we shamed by our own conduct?

The bible is there to warn people. Nothing personal. God doesn't respect persons. So if you disobey God...you are cursed. God is not going to change the law so you can escape the ramifications. it is on us to fear and depart. So God warns us over and over again. The answer is to fear and depart from iniquity..not respond by saying...that's not grace!

Grace is the power to overcome sin and the world.

Many people will cling to this easy peasy grace thing until there is weeping and gnashing of teeth. THEN that will settle the matter.
Great post. I think of God's warnings to us as acts of grace. It is surely a blessing to be able to see it where we're wrong so we can change.

Luke 18:9 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

Actually God did that.

First, being "proud" of what Christ does for us, is exactly what we should be doing. Did you think that I was boasting about my ability to remain saved? How silly would that be? I didn't save myself.
“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

Resting in his sufficiency should leave us very confidant of his ability to preserve us through whatever life throws at us, including our own sinfulness.

Since you are relatively new, you may not be aware that Episkopos has concocted his own theology, and rejected some fundamental Gospel truths. BEWARE OF FALSE TEACHERS.

And you are correct. Believers can know -- without the shadow of a doubt -- that they have been saved by grace through faith.

“Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” (2 Peter 1:4)

I believe it applies to praying for something for ourselves, that we need to wait on the Lord. And just because you don't wait on the Lord out of not knowing that you should doesn't mean you are not saved. This is more for assurance that you are saved. So if your prayers are answered, you have the assurance that you are keeping the Lord's commandments and are pleasing in His sight. But that would only be important to someone who wants to abide in Jesus as much as they possibly can. There are lukewarm Christians out there that could care less.
this is right on the mark. but there are prayers that have not been answered .let me school you some. the Holy Spirit will intercede when we dont know what to pray. many times i ask the Lord for help. that is all i say. the Bible says not to use vain repetitions . one guy stood off and said i thank God i am not like him. the other smote his chest said Lord have mercy on me a sinner man . the pastor of the church we attend has a son that has been in and out of legal trouble with the law for years .under the influence of alcohol and pills. exposed himself in public going pee. time in jail. stealing did time in state jail . back in trouble again. they been praying for sometime .he still goes back to drugs and other legal trouble. see praying for him to be saved is not asking amiss . just because some prayers are not answered does not mean we are not following the commandments of God . BTW there are prayer hindrances
1. Unconfessed Sin
Unconfessed sin is probably the most common prayer killer. Psalm 66:18 says, “If I regard wickedness in my heart, the Lord will not hear” (NASB).
2. Lack of Faith
Lack of faith has an incredibly negative impact on a Christian’s life. Without faith, prayer has no power. Even Jesus was powerless to perform any miracles in Nazareth because of the people’s lack of faith (Mark 6:1-6
3. Disobedience
…If we are to grow in our relationship with God and become strong people of prayer, we must learn to obey. ( full time job) we all fail at one time or another. this is reference to pure rebellion
5. Unforgiveness
…Why is forgiveness so important? The answer is found in Matthew 6:14-15 , “For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” there are more but this os all i ama posting

Your so right about prayer EZRA.
My oldest son in his younger years was in such rebellion against God, but my son and I stayed close and I never criticized his life, but was very loving and stayed constant in talking about the Lord, and praying constantly in very specific ways for his life, and never beat him up with the word, but just loved him and spent time with him and always built him up in what he did good and worth approval.
Today, probably 25 years later we have gotten even closer as he began developing a personal relationship with God.
He still calls me weekly and is always telling me how God is constantly blessing him and how he praises God and thanks Him now for all God is doing for him.
Does it get any better for a father?? PRAISE GOD!!!
his parents have stood by him for years, getting him a lawyer sending funds while in state custody. sad thing is deep down he is a good guy. i have been around him. wrote him while in jail . man is very rebellious in nature and sometimes God has to turn the heat up to melt the ice
