Chapter 12 speaks of divers kinds of tongues, not unknown tongues per chapter 14.
Do all speak with divers kinds of tongues, one of the 9 gifts?...no.
Do all speak with unknown tongues...yes.
You lose.
Cool - maybe you can show me the VERSE that make this claim.

Oh, you can't??
That's what I thought . . .

Latin is the language of science and medicine - it is hardly unknown.

45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

46 For they heard them speak with tongues,....

Question, how do you Catholics know if you have the Holy Ghost?

So you couldn't find a verse that makes your claim, huh??
That's precisely what I expected from you.

Peter wrote wisely of you:

2 Pet. 3:16
He (Paul) writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.

ONE more time: Stop quoting the Bible until you LEARN what it means.

Question, how do you Catholics know if you have the Holy Ghost?

Hello Truther,
I pondered your question for a while, and considered talking to you about Faith, and Hope and especially Love;
But the Spirit placed it on my heart to share a much more intimate proof (to me).
And that is the gift of seeing the Church as she is, the Holy bride of Christ.
While the world sees her as something to be despised, mocked, reviled...
I see the chaste virgin, washed in the Blood of the Lamb, reflecting the Glory of her Holy Husband...
And I can hear her voice, especially when singing the Gloria, as hundreds of millions of my brothers and sisters; with one voice, and one mind, and one heart give praise and glory to our Almighty Father, and to Jesus Christ, His Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

This is a gift of the Spirit, and one I cherish dearly.

You too! Are welcome to come to the wedding feast of the Lamb of God!

Peace be with you!

Sooooo, YOU misquoted the Pope - and I exposed you for it.
NOW, it's a matter of "infallibility"??

Infallibility never played into this. YOU stuck your foot in your mouth and got caught.
That's about the size of it . . .
So the Pope isn't infallible? Good of you to confirm what we all already know.

Catholics actually don't believe that the Pope is automatically infallible at all, and will acknowledge human failings of popes (past and present).
Infallibility actually is confined to a narrow specific set of circumstances.

According to what the Catholic church says, he's infallible on doctrine. That's not very narrow.

We receive the Holy Spirit at Baptism, Einstein.
READ your Bible . . .

John 3:5

Jesus answered, “Amen, amen, I say to you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of WATER and SPIRIT.

Acts 2:38
Peter[said to them, “Repent and BE BAPTIZED, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; AND YOU WILL RECEIVE THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.

Wow, did you speak in tongues as evidence you received the Holy Ghost when you were a baby?

Did you repent as a baby?

Did you hear them say "in the name of Jesus Christ" when they baptized you?

3 strikes...you're out.

Nope.
My parents simply obeyed the Holy spirit, who spoke through Peter in the very next verse . . .

Acts 2:39
For the promise is made to you AND TO YOUR CHILDREN and to all those far off, WHOMEVER the Lord our God will call.”

It's not rocket science, Einstein . . .

Absolutely! Threads like this one make me wonder what some people on this forum really want: the Truth, or any argument or simply to win an argument as if winning would win someone to God. Only God gives the increase!

Catholics, including the Pope, have problems like we all do to strive to stay always on the Lord's side, but we really need to listen to what the other guy is saying here. He might be wrong in places, but are we as the opposition always right?

Hammering on a person will Not make you right and him wrong... and it most certainly will not make him change his mind. What it may do is cause us, as the hammerers to lose whatever good it is that we thought we had.

Where does it say to baptize infants? It doesn't.
In fact, it refers to all the Lord will call...how do you know if a specific infant is going to respond to God's call? You don't, until he is old enough to understand the gospel.

Jer. 1:5

More uncalled for insults. You know there's a lot in the Book about how you are to treat fellow believers, right?
So, God calls some people for certain tasks. That has nothing to do with baptizing infants.

I'm not sure you ARE a "fellow believer" if you reject so many of the teachings of the Apostles . . .
