Hi folks :)
The reason I ask is because I have only been here a little over a week and was nicely welcomed, but shortly after that at least one welcomer who really post's a lot here,
turned on me and attacked me pretty harshly, and then a woman here did the same thing. Hey , I've only been here a week and consider myself a pretty, friendly guy, and pretty happy.
I ended up using the "IGNORE Feature" and that helped a lot.

But boy, after reading other posts and topics and how people go at it with each other, with NO LOVE INTENDED, It feels like I'm on one of my other Non-Christian forums, where people like to tear into each other brutally, with no intentions but to destroy their perceived foes..
I thought there was supposed to be a difference
.
I came here to enjoy sharing in Christ's word, and sharing in different opinions and different perspectives, but I'm wondering how to do that now.

I'm not a fighter and wouldn't think I should need THICK SKIN to be here, but it's almost like people come here to be "GLADIATORS" to fight in the arena of Christian warfare.

I didn't come here to "SURVIVE", but hoped to THRIVE, but maybe that isn't the point here.

Maybe someone here can help me out, and give me some advise - like maybe ...run for your life:).

I came here this morning to the forum feeling a bit broken hearted over so many here sounding so unhappy in the way they convey their beliefs in such caustic anger.
I find such joy in my faith and wonder what would cause such deep seated bitterness, when there could be such an appreciation for each person here and an opportunity to love as Christ loves us.
It's all very confusing and saddens me deeply.

May God bless all of you in the richness of His love for one another.

Been here two...maybe three years. Sometimes i think relationships have been formed with others. other times some doctrine differences come in and the very few you think you have grown close to, you suddenly become enemies and not brothers or sisters. He said “the bond of perfectness”. why then is the bond in being “bound“ with those who believe the same as you? Calvins with Calvins. Rapture theorist with rapture theorist. Catholics with Catholics. Over spiritualized with over spiritualized. Jew with Jews. Gentiles with gentiles. Males with males. Females with females. And even then there is fighting among those boundaries set. Starting to think the many doctrines have shut up and isolated in groups...destroying any resemblance of relationships and unity. all it takes is a few differences and relationships part ways. Could be likened to eating our own children. How does the many doctrines hold so much power of destruction of relationships becoming the bond that binds “like minded” in groups; groups built on common beliefs instead of something He said could not be destroyed “bound in Him” and “put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.”

Colossians 3:12-14 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; [13] Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. [14] And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

Hello OLIGOS ,
Over the 3 years of being on CB, I have realized there are more Christ like people than not on here. I was just like you when I first came here. Wanted to remove myself within a week! But, this is funny but, a wonderful lady on here in-boxed me and told me I needed to "grow a thicker skin", LOL. Of course, she wrote more than that but...it has brought me to a place where I believe we are the wheat and the tares, and have to grow together so the good roots do not get pulled up. Dunno if that helps. BTW- you are a very friendly guy!! :)

Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. Anger is in the words, because anger is in the heart.

I'm with you. God is love, to know God is to know love. But there was a time I didn't know God as well as now, and I didn't love as well as now. When we aren't confident in our standing with God, it's harder to know joy.

I went through the same thing as @Nancy , when I saw what was happening on this forum, I had to seriously seek God whether I should continue.

Because of some of these highly negative and misleading voices, many good people have left this forum. We need those who will show a good example.

Much love!

Everyone's input helped a lot -

Nancy, your comment about the tares and wheat really made sense in a way that touched me deeply to better understand.

Love in Christ to all of you.

Give God the glory OLIGOS! We do live in an evil world! It is not evil because of God who in the beginning made it all very good. Only those who have already overcome the world as Jesus did no longer make any evil. Even on the best of Christian forums as in the best of Christian assemblies on planet Earth, we will find few who have overcome that final battle. This really is one the best ones around, but that is not saying it is filled with overcomers. Like @Nancy said, there are tares growing along side the wheat. We simply go ahead and treat everyone like Jesus treated Judas when He knew what Judas was doing. Jesus loved even those who plotted against Him. Should we do less?

When we have a problem, we have to approach God. That's what I did when I faced a similar problem on this board !

God tells us something like this through the Bible - Go out into this world and ....... and return to the Church/community with your contribution !" I understand many like to do just the opposite - seek a Church/community/fellowship and take back a contribution into this world. :p:D

Worrisome words - thick skin, anger, enemies :(
Is any one really happy here?

Happiness in this forum is really out of context. Is God happy with what I post in this forum? The joy of the Lord is my strength! :)

He knows my name
He knows my every thought

Hi Oligos,

A lot of us come here and are surprised to find the things you describe. Certainly, there are other Christian forums that would not even allow what goes on here. But I think what we have here very accurately depicts the world...which I guess is why we are surprised. Not sure that is a bad thing...we are supposed to take the gospel to all the world.

This, however, is the same kind of thing that caused God's own people to kill the prophets and crucify Christ. Nothing new under the sun I guess. And now we have a part in it...by design, I should think. Must remember that our fight is not against flesh and blood.

Blessings--glad you're here!

The 64 dollar question as it were. I came here with no expectations but learned real quick this is the wild west, dog eat dog type of place. If you don't tow the line they way some want you to it's time to start attacking you. I started to attack back and it can get nasty but even though it might get that way it's better than pretending everything is alright when it's not.

On edit: No I am not really happy, I would love a place where Liturgical and Traditional Christianity could be talked about without getting disparaged all the time.

No big deal. A lot of people go through life in ostrich mode, burying their head in the sand instead of trying to learn or challenge those with other views.

I have no respect for those who go through life always invoking the IGNORE FEATURE. Not a very intelligent approach to the world around us.

I like liturgy. I like that we can know by rote what we believe, and then when the waves start slapping over the boat, we've got the answers almost hard-wired into our brain.

Liturgy to me is like a recipe for sanctification. I know people will argue over what to include and to not. Some will say it limits the Holy Spirit. I say it adds foundation.

Much love!

Hi Stan,

There's "head in the sand", willful ignorance of what you should be knowing, and then there is just overlooking distractions to stay on course. When I put someone on ignore, it's generally someone who says the same personally negative thing or set of things to me over and over.

There's little point to reasoning and engaging in dialog those who are so filled up with anger and bitterness, or who are so invested in tearing down any who would challenge their teaching, that any attempt just brings more of the same.

Much love!

Okay. While not pushing the digital ignore button, I have been known to push the mental ignore button. :)
