I have an opinion on heaven I would like to share, let me know what you think. Many people feel that heaven is some far off place, about a month ago a thought came to my mind that heaven was closer than what we think.I think that heaven is actually all around us,but we just can't see it because its in a different deminsion maybe not here as in on earth, although it could be, but mainly in the upper atmosphere,or just in the atmosphere period.I can't remember in what book, but do you all recall the story of people about to fight a battle, and one of them said we don't have enough men,but one of them asked God to remove the veil and allow him to see the army of angels that were indeed with them.Hope I made sense, and if someone could, please let me know where in the bible this took place.Oh and let me know what you think.

2Ki 6:14 Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about. 2Ki 6:15 And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, a host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do? 2Ki 6:16 And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. 2Ki 6:17 And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. 2Ki 6:18 And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the LORD, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha. 2Ki 6:19 And Elisha said unto them, This is not the way, neither is this the city: follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom ye seek. But he led them to Samaria.

The dimension concept, IMHO, is the best way to characterize it. It's a tradition of men that heaven is somehow far off in space or up in the sky. There was another thread a good while back where I discussed this but I forget which one it was. Karen cited the verses you would be looking for.

I have often thought about this also N2 that the veil is what is between us and heaven as opposed to miles in space. I read a book once(sorry cant remember the name) that described that dimension/veil as like looking into a mirror except we are on the wrong side of the mirror we can not see thru it we can only see whats on our side of the mirror and when God tears open the veil we will see we were the pale reflection of true reality which is place we call heaven. Now I don't know where this guy got his information or if its right but I always thought there was much more to this word VEIL than what we understand. Might be a interesting study. I found the following in a study on Enoch:The most significant aspect of these two Scriptures is the fact that neither of them say Enoch went to heaven. The word rendered translated in the Greek is metatiqhmi or metatithemi and is Strong's Concordance #3346. It means to transfer, transport, exchange, change sides, carry over, change or remove. We read in John 3:13 : " And no man has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of man who is in heaven...........................Thought some of the meanings of the greek translations interesting food for thought.

I am probably the least knowledgeable in these things, however, I would like to offer my opinion.Although, physically, if I understand correctly, we will be in the precence of our Heavenly Father when all is said and done, I tend to look at heaven as a state of being. When we are without God completely, we are in Hell, here now as we live on earth God gives us the grace of His precence to some degree, but we will only be in Heaven, (in His Presence Fully) at the end of time. 3 states of being. Hell, Earth, Heaven. Evil, Trying to pick a side (lol) and God's Presence. It's just a thought, so don't hurt me for being wrong, and if someone has scripture to support or refute my offering, please, I humbly submit to those wiser than I.

Hello EveryoneI am new but I just finished reading a book about a Guy that died and went to heaven and then came back. it is called 90 min in heaven because that is how long he was dead. Now this isn't the usually near death story. This man is a preacher in Texas. His name is Don Piper it is really cool. It made me ready to go to heaven. Well I hope you guys check it out. This is his website. http://www.donpiperministries.com/

Hi guerrillasaint, glad you're posting! Now I'm going to disagree with you:I have a few observations about that site. He could be a great Christian but .....One; there's not an excerpt of his book. I'm not going to plunk down hard earned money for someone's pipe dream. If he can't share a paragraph or two with us then it looks like he's more interested in the $$.Two; you say he's a good Christian because he's a pastor. You must be a new Christian; not everyone that says he's/she's a pastor is a true Christian.A lot of them are in it for the money; the riches and the fame.Sorry, I didn't agree with you; but keep posting!

Thank you for trying to keep my feelings in mind I appreciate it. Still I am not a new Christian I have been one most of my life 17-20yrs out of the 23yrs. Also I am not new at forums I usually spend my time on Atheist Anonymous website trying to tell them the truth. Been doing that for about two years now. (That is a up hill battle.) So I have no problem with being disagreed with. The guy Don Piper is a good Christian as well as a Pastor. When my sister gives me to book I will put in a quote.

That made me think of this verse.......1Co 13:9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 1Co 13:10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. 1Co 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 1Co 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. a glass,2072G2072ἔσοπτρονesoptrones'-op-tronFrom G1519 and a presumed derivative of G3700; a mirror (for looking into): - glass. Compare G2734.
