Not at all, the King Jimmy added things not there. :)

Origen in the third century reported corrupted texts.
There is more than one scholarly opinion out there, people can research textual criticisms on their own.

It is actually more correct to understand that, the KJV interpreters erroneously added these verses, not that they were deleted by subsequent versions. Although the KJV scholars were sincerely working from the best manuscripts that they had at that time, later manuscript discoveries proves the short comings in their version.
Don't get fanatical Doug, reason and logic perceives this circumstantial process very clearly, and therefore understands why our versions are, as they are.

Yes, older doesn't always imply uncorrupted. But, as a general rule, in any field of research into antiquity, older is more reliable and shorter is more accurate, ...but still subject to textual criticism.

Affecting doctrinal understanding is something very different than affecting salvation. Docterine and scripture are super important , but they are not what saves. Christ alone saves.

The redemption we have in Christ saves those who believe his word according to Paul's gospel (Romans 3:22-26 Romans 16:25)

The "whole and pure" and Living Word of God is that which comes out of His mouth.

"But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." Matt 4:4

Without the lead of the Holy Spirit who can speak or hear the Living Word of God? A devil quoting what is written against a man led by or filled with the Holy Spirit will Not prevail. Do the devil's words, even quoted scriptures, have Life? Consider the what Jesus said about his own words:

"It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." John 6:63

Here the devil quotes Psalm 91:11-12

"And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone." Matt 4:7

And then Jesus quotes Deut 6:16 back at him:

"Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God" Matt 4:7

Both of them quoted the scriptures. Why did what Jesus quoted prevail?

Satan omitted this in Psalm 91:11 " to keep thee in all thy ways."

Original" Greek" manuscripts?
The original AUTOGRAPHS (actual divinely inspired manuscripts) perished with constant use a long time ago. However there are thousands of faithful copies, of copies, of copies, from different regions and from different times. extending all the way back to the autographs. They all attest to a traditional Greek text which is represented by the Received Text (Latin textus receptus) and which is the foundation of all Reformation Bibles (including the KJV).

At the same time a handful of corrupted Greek manuscripts -- Aleph, A,B,C, D, have captured the hearts of modern rationalistic critics, who have therefore invented a fantastic theory. Their false claim is that the majority of manuscripts are unreliable, and the handful of corrupted ones are shining examples of the true text! They also perpetrated a hoax to support this idea.

Really!
I'm not referring to the exact letter Paul wrote, but the earliest manuscripts available.

He had dead sea scrolls, Hebrew scrolls, hundreds of 2nd and 3 Rd century texts. That's what he did, tryingto get his hands on the earliest manuscripts to get the best translation of the original letters, or gospels.

What tools does your gifted teacher have to perfect you?

I don't know, wouldn't that be a copy still?

The word original refers more the the first language the gospels and letters that were written in, not the manuscripts themselves. It took me 6 hours to view the entire collection, but didn't get to ask questions so my knowledge of the collection as a whole is limited.

Again, it's not about a man's ability to pass a theology test.

That's true, I don't even know a theology school that teaches Faith and faithing correctly.

But for the one the does correctly fulfill the requirements of Faith and recieves the Spirit of Christ, theology is a constant blessing of God's hidden truths.

There are plenty of verses that would still communicate that Christ's redemption is sufficient for our salvation, but shouldn't we want confidence in every word (Luke 4:4) instead of being doubtful of them.
Also wouldn't a verse incorrectly translated cast doubt on the meaning of the verse you cited, or in fact, any verse.
And by the way in some translations of Luke 4:4 every word of God is omitted
Any differences in the principal translations of the New Testament are basically minor and cosmetic. There may be differences of the way things are put in the paraphrased editions such as "The Living Bible" and "The Message", which, for serious study purposes, are not reliable; but still the basic message of salvation is still there and one can receive Christ and be assured of salvation.

Those who have problems with various translations are those who tend to be picky over individual words. For example, those who decide to deny the virgin birth will favour ediitions which describe Mary as "a young woman" instead of those which describe her as "a virgin". There are translations which were made to support a particular cult, such as the JWs, which change the wording to suit their doctrine; for example, the JWs have John 1:1 as saying "In the beginning was "a God", instead of "In the beginning was God", to make out that Jesus was not God, but a created godlike being.

Because of the characteristics of the Greek language in that some words can have two or three different meanings according to the context in which they are used, different translators have had to decide which meaning to use based on the context they saw. The Amplified Bible tries to resolve this by adding all the possible meanings of a word where possible so that the reader can get a better idea of what the reference is saying.

Also, the King James version was translated into 17th Century language, and word meanings have changed over the 400 years since it was first translated, making words like "conversation" (manner of life), and "let" (prevent) no longer meaning the same today, with "conversation" meaning verbal exchange, and "let" meaning to permit.

So, I have several translations of the Bible, include a Greek Interlinear version, so when I encounter a passage where I am not sure of the meaning, I have those resources to clarify what is meant.

A caution: We have to avoid the attitude, "it ain't necessarily so", when it comes to where the Bible talks about the need for repentance, faith in Christ alone for salvation, living a holy life, which are clearly stated, and we have to interpret Scripture with Scripture, for example, where James says that faith without works is dead, and Paul says that no one is justified by works, which seem to be contradictions. But when we see another scripture that says that we are saved to perform the works ordained by God for us to do, we get a clearer picture of where faith alone is necessary, and where works must follow faith. So Paul is saying that faith alone in Christ justifies us before God, and a saved person demonstrates his faith by doing the good works that God has prepared for the already converted person to do, which is the developing sanctification that the Holy Spirit works in the converted believer. Once we know that it is the same Holy Spirit who speaks through Paul and James, and we know that He is not inconsistent in what He says through either Apostle, then we dig deeper to find out how they are consistent with each other.

I was wondering... what were you communicating here?
I do not think my salvation depends on my own understanding of things. I think it depends on faith in Jesus -- faith in what he did, faith in what he is doing now, and faith in what he can do in the future. I do not understand all that. It is more important for me to listen and to obey the way sheep do what their shepherd tells them.

God has said we live by every word Deuteronomy 8:3
It is so written. Moses heard it and wrote it down. Jesus quoted it. What do the written words say?

Deuteronomy 8:3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live.

Moses could hear the Voice of God. Can we? There is no salvation in a Bible since it is paper and ink. There is no salvation in the written words on its pages. The written words in the Bible are clues for us -- clues for us when we cannot hear the Voice of God for ourselves yet. If we know we cannot hear the Voice of God for ourselves, we do the best we can by trying to understand holy books and holy men, hoping that indeed God rewards those who diligently seek Him.

Salvation depends on hearing every word that comes from the mouth of God and then obeying. The first words are often easy and simple. Do this. Don't do that. As we live our daily lives, we learn how to love others better by "listening" for guidance. A little is given. If we are faithful in the little things, God may entrust us with bigger things.

Jesus heard and obeyed every Word of the Father. He also spoke what he heard -- and his verbal words were spirit. Jesus did not write his words down.

John 8:51 Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.

Faith comes by hearing -- not by reading. It is one thing to read the Bible, but another thing to be able to hear. Many people never come to hear for themselves -- they use the Bible mostly trying to discover truths. It is more valuable when used to correct our flaws since those flaws can block out the Voice of God, rendering us mostly spiritually deaf.

Perhaps the worst use the Bible can put to is when men believe they have the truth about something and then scour the Bible trying to prove it. Such men are wise in their own eyes and putting faith in their own understanding. You can often spot this type by their pride and lack of love. I don't know if there is much that can be done for them. They will be "ever learning" yet never coming to the truth. They cannot come to the truth since they are clinging to their own ideas as idols.

If someone wants to advance spiritually, one piece of advice I find useful is, "If you see where you can do a good deed, do it." This could be something small, like helping someone carry packages or across the street. If you can see it's a good thing, thank God for the idea and then do it. That good idea that comes to your mind is a gift from God -- even if it's only offering someone a cup of water.

James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

King James 1 Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

New King James 1 Corinthians 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

The majority of Bible versions translate the above verse as "are being saved", instead of "are saved". The translation of this verse affects the security of our salvation. If we are being saved, that is saying our salvation is an unfinished process, and not a present possession. We are saved by the redemption of the Lord Jesus Christ, we are justified freely, as a gift of God (Romans 3:21-26 Romans 5:15 Romans 6:23).

This is just one example highlighting the importance of how translations affect doctrine.
Addressing the OP only, first good post. second, yes, "BIBLE VERSIONS CAN AFFECT SALVATION", of those who are without the Holy Ghost. in your passages given we're save in hope because of our FAITH. scripture, Romans 8:24 "For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? HERE'S THE ANSWER, NEXT VERSE, Romans 8:25 "But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it". what do waiting patiently means? answer, Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the substance of things .............. hoped for, the evidence of things not seen". it's our FAITH, that give us the full assurence in this Hope. I have two acronym that I go by F.E.A.R and F.A.I.T.H.

FEAR = False Evidence Appearing Real. that's the New King James of 1 Corinthians 1:18,

FAITH = Fully Assured In This Hope.that's the King James of 1 Corinthians 1:18

so while we're here in this world, we walk by FAITH, and not by sight.

for my Faith in God is my assurance of my Salvation, and sure deposit have been made of that guarantee, as said is the HOLY SPIRIT, God himself, now if one cannot believe that guarantee, GOD, then they are truly ........ "LOST".

the oly thing we're being is "perfected", that is accomplish else Jesus is a lier, (and we Know he is not), Hebrews 12:2 "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God". NOT THE FINISHER OF OUR SALVATION, BUT OUR "FAITH", for we're "OVERCOMERS. that's where patience comes in at.

PICJAG.

Remember, the original texts had no punctuation, no chapter and verse. Every new translation puncuates differently possibly changing the message.

I am saying that there is a difference in verses among the translations that can be significant in impacting doctrine. God provided teachers for those who don't have understanding Isaiah 28:9 1 Timothy 4:13
Let's look at Isaiah 28 more to see what ought to be avoided.

Isaiah 28:9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.
12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.
13 But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

We can easily stumble if we go line by line, here a little and there a little. . . while rejecting how the weary can find rest. The Word of God is not meant to be taken here a little and there a little by studying lines of words in the Bible. We must "hear." Therein lies the struggle. If we are in the stage of depending on holy books and holy men, we are not yet weaned from the milk. We must struggle along, moving forward so that we come to hear the Voice of God for ourselves. We must also take care to look at our deeds daily to see if our fruits are good or bad. If we are bearing good fruit, we can be confident we're on the right path.

False teachers, by the way, often claim to hear the Voice of God. It is easy to follow the wrong teachers. If they are true teachers, they will get their students to the point where they no longer need them as teachers. The students grow up spiritually and can hear for themselves. This is what Jesus did with his disciples. They couldn't hear the Voice of God at first. It took a while under Jesus' discipline before they could hear for themselves.

The proper teacher does not want an eternal relationship with his students where he remains the only person considered to have authority. The proper teacher knows he can hear the Voice of God for himself -- and he wants his students to learn how to hear for themselves as well -- and he insists they advance. Thus there are stages to it -- first the milk, then the meat.

1 Corinthians 3:2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.

Hebrews 5:12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.

1 Peter 2:1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

Notice how heavily the disciples leaned on Jesus. That was the correct thing for them to do for the time they did it. Then the time came that they needed to grow up, and Jesus knew it. They needed to start hearing the Voice of God for themselves.

John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
