We are all well aware that there are anti-Semitic sites on the Internet and sites that engage in other forms of racism. That has been well documented. Virtually ignored, however, is the abundance of anti-Catholicism that exists on the Internet. The existence of anti-Catholicism is simply not a story that generates much interest in the secular press. Yet, anti-Catholicism on the Internet is neither hidden nor difficult to find. Logon to any of the popular search engines for the Internet and type in “Roman Catholicism” or “Roman Catholic.” More than likely, you will find in one of your first 10 options for websites to explore an Internet site dedicated to anti-Catholicism. Using Alta Vista, for example, six of the first 20 websites that appear are specifically anti-Catholic; using “Go To,” seven of the first 20 cites listed were anti-Catholic. The pervasiveness of anti-Catholicism on the Internet reflects how deeply entrenched, obsessive and normative this prejudice is within contemporary culture. If the Internet is our most contemporary means of communication and information gathering, then anti-Catholicism is entering the new Millenium in a powerful fashion.

I would not assume any organisation is 'Christian', where in the N T do you find Jesus or the apostles talking about organisations, they deal with peopl as individuals or as groups that met together as a church.
1 Timothy 5:17, Titus 1:5, Acts 6, Philippians 1, Acts 20 etc. etc.

As we all know and as many of our well established textbooks have argued for decades, the Inquisition was one of the most frightening and bloody chapters in Western history, Pope Pius XII was anti-Semitic and rightfully called “Hitler’s Pope,” the Dark Ages were a stunting of the progress of knowledge to be redeemed only by the secular spirit of the Enlightenment, and the religious Crusades were an early example of the rapacious Western thirst for riches and power. But what if these long held beliefs were all wrong?

In this stunning, powerful, and ultimately persuasive book, Rodney Stark, one of the most highly regarded sociologists of religion and bestselling author of The Rise of Christianity (HarperSanFrancisco 1997) (WHO IS NOT A CATHOLIC) argues that some of our most firmly held ideas about history, ideas that paint the Catholic Church in the least positive light are, in fact, fiction. Why have we held these wrongheaded ideas so strongly and for so long? And if our beliefs are wrong, what, in fact, is the truth?
In each chapter, Stark takes on a well-established anti-Catholic myth, gives a fascinating history of how each myth became the conventional wisdom, and presents a startling picture of the real truth. For example,
  • Instead of the Spanish Inquisition being an anomaly of torture and murder of innocent people persecuted for “imaginary” crimes such as witchcraft and blasphemy, Stark argues that not only did the Spanish Inquisition spill very little blood, but it was a major force in support of moderation and justice.
  • Instead of Pope Pius XII being apathetic or even helpful to the Nazi movement, such as to merit the title, “Hitler’s Pope,” Stark shows that the campaign to link Pope Pius XII to Hitler was initiated by the Soviet Union, presumably in hopes of neutralizing the Vatican in post-World War II affairs. Pope Pius XII was widely praised for his vigorous and devoted efforts to saving Jewish lives during the war.
  • Instead of the Dark Ages being understood as a millennium of ignorance and backwardness inspired by the Catholic Church’s power, Stark argues that the whole notion of the “Dark Ages” was an act of pride perpetuated by anti-religious intellectuals who were determined to claim that theirs was the era of “Enlightenment.”
In the end, readers will not only have a more accurate history of the Catholic Church, they will come to understand why it became unfairly maligned for so long. Bearing False Witness is a compelling and sobering account of how egotism and ideology often work together to give us a false truth.

i used to be innocent when i was a member of catholic church i used to thought that if i pray this our father 2x ,hail mary 3x then my sins will be forgiven because this is what they teach us when i was still too young less than 10yr old now that i am older i am having a hard time trusting in the Lord or even trusting someone because of all the lies i've seen and heard the scammers that lurking in the shadows

this is probably pointed to them to priest, bishop, pope

6 But whoso shall offend(for sure this is not offend but trip/fall) one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

and for sure this is not all about innocent childrens but like a children that truly believe in God sincerely

this is probably why they are indeed being drowned and do not know the truth because the so called truth that they hold are the tradition that man created they created
Don't trust the teachings of men or their traditions but look only to God and seek his face. Be open to the Holy Spirit when you read your bible. Ask him to help you to discern what is the truth from the things you have been taught. Ask him to show you where you have been deceived.

Because the pinnacle of thier hearts is thier Virgin Mary who has no real basis in society but just was a woman who birthed Jesus and was highly favored by God...
The pinnacle of our faith is God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Not sure why your would choose to post such a ridiculous statement . . .

wrong on two counts:
1. The Virgin Mary isnot thepinnavle of our hearts.
2. Mary was, and is a lot more than just a woman who birhed Christ

But then you provide no evidence for either claim - which is par for the course with anti-Catholic Protestants

Soooo, when tens of thousands other people decided to open the Bible and were "open" to the Holy Spirit - and they ALL came to 30,000 different interpretations - WHO is right?

Surely, there must be an answer because God is NOT the author of confusion . . .

Well thank God I finally am meeting a catholic who mentions this and not the Virgin Mary..
Just to let you know, so that you don't keep perpetuating a falsehood - we don't worship Mary or ANYBODY other than God.
Catholics are Christians - not pagans.

As a matter fact - we were the very first Christians.
Protestants came along some 1500 years later . . .

not if their practicing Catholicism no! plus it would be counterproductive since they've separated themselves from the catholic church!!
Hi DoveSpirit,

I should re-word the question: There are some Protestant denominations that have doctrines that mirror Catholic Doctrines. It is alleged by SOME Protestants that Catholics aren't Christians. Are the Protestants that practice SOME of the same doctrines as catholic doctrine Christian?

Curious Mary

Tell me - how many of the world's 1.3 billion Catholics have told you that they worship Mary?
My guess would be zero; you are making a sweeping statement on zero evidence.

Scripture says that only God judges the heart (1Sam 16:7). You seem to be judging by your own warped perceptions.

At most Sunday Masses Catholics say the Nicene Creed, proclaiming " We believe in one God."

The Catechism (whilst discussing the first Commandment states “The first commandment condemns polytheism. It requires man neither to believe in, nor to venerate, other divinities than the one true God.”

I could give many more examples.

Go into a Catholic church and look up the aisle. What do you see at the other end?
Answer a sanctuary with a large altar where Mass is celebrated. Behind or above the altar will be a large crucifix - Jesus hanging on the cross.
If you look around you will probably find a statue of Mary. But that is not the focus, that is not where the pews face.

Do I need to buy guns? All these people calling themselves Christians when they're not, when they're committing violence against each other! What should I do if a Catholic mob breaks into my house, demanding my Bibles so they can burn them?
Just don't let them have the Word, which God has written on your heart.

This thread is just a Catholic hate fest.

Lot's of anti-Catholic rhetoric backed by nil evidence.

And the hypocrisy of "I don't hate Catholics, just the Catholic Church".
This is truly unfortunate and I for myself apologize. There are probably already dozens of threads on this forum already doing the
same thing, but some people cannot resist the urge to attack as if their words were the pudding of proof required. God does not work that way, but people, without regard to affiliation, certainly do!

Help us dear Lord!
