I havnt really tried it, i dont know if i can say anything bad about it on the other hand though.
I can. This is a warning for all believers.1 Timothy 4: 1Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; When they do not test the spirits, but believe every supernatural encounter to be from God and then turn around and start preaching another spirit to receive like another "baptism" of the Holy Spirit that comes with evidence of tongues which just happens to be the same kind of tongues gained in the world when they seek after familiar spirits, as opposing God's gift of tongues are foreign languages that is to come with interpretation, then the prophesy above comes true as they fall away from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. There is only one baptism of the Holy Spirit, thus preaching another baptism of the AHoly Spirit that comes with eviudence of tongues is a doctrine of the devil.Ephesians 1:12-15 1 Corinthians 12:13 Ephesians 4:4-6 No more continual filling for we are not leaky vessels:Matthew 9:17 Colossians 2:5-10Those that go after another spirit to receive, hunger for more of that, but Jesus made this promise for coming to Him and believing in Him: John 6:35That is the only way we can rest in Jesus.Hebrews 4:1-3 Hebrews 4:9-11 John 6:28-29 Matthew 11:28-30All invitations in coming to God the Father is through the Son only so as to avoid false spirits as well as false prophets:John 14:6 John 10:1 Matthew 7:13-16 Luke 13:24By climbing up another way by "chasing after the Holy Spirit or what they believe to be the Holy Spirit when He is in us in according to the faith and promise of Jesus Christ" they are not heeding His sayings nor keeping them.Matthew 7:21-272 Corinthians 13:5Those that do both are still bearing false witness for they witness in hypocrisey, call for the Spirit to come when He is already in them, thus their conscience is seared as with a hot iron, unable to see that truth.

"1 Corinthians 14:2 (KJV)"For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries."-- A language spoken unknown to men but understood by God."If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal." (1 Corinthians 13:1) -- Who knew that the tongue of angels is a realy a 'human tongue?'Christina, I read your entire post, including Adam Clarke's (with an 'e') commentaries, and there was nothing in there, said by either he or you, that negates the idea of speaking/praising in the spirit. Your first statement, "these verses they are difficult to understand even for the experts" in inaccurate, to say the least. It is not that difficult to understand. And there on "experts" on all sides, in every denomination, who give opinions that contradict those of other "experts."Adam Clarke believed that prior to Jesus' "incarnation" he was "unoriginated" and that if he had been in full existance before that he would have been subordinate to God and thus not divine. Even his fellow Methodists thought he was full of beans.

1 John 2:8Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. 19They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. 20But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.21I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth. 1 John 4: 4Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 5They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 6We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. 7Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 2 Thessalonians 3: 1Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: 2And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. 3But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil. 4And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you. 5And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ. 6Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. 7For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;.... 14And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed. 15Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.2 Timothy 2: 15Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 16But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.... 19Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. 20But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. 21If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. 22Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.2 Timothy 4: 1I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 2Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. 3For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 5But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. 6For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 9Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me:

"1 Corinthians 14:2 (KJV)"For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries." No matter how many times you repeat this verse it doesnt prove you point Polar this verse is a contradiction in its self it doesnt proof your right or there would be no conversey ...This subject is always in debate ... because this verse is complicated...Not an easy to understand milk verse as you want to make it out........ The question is do you want to really understand what God is saying ? It can not be interpted as meaning todays tounges .............. Do you care what God says or what men say? This Word "glōssa" (tongues) means natural Human Langues ............ Yet no man understandish ...How can no man understand natural human language ?No where does it say this is Angels language in this verse nor does it say its babble nor is it talking about the gifts nor about some strange mutterings. ... To assume its Angels language or prayer lanuage is just pure speculation and a lie it doenst say it that idea is without any support ... Its natural human language So what is God saying ? In the verse is the question.Thats why the interpters added the Word unknown they didnt know what human language was being refered to here .....It was never to imply gibberish or Angels language or prayer language as the Penecost movement of Today claims ............. There is NO ..not any specific language implied there fore what human language being refered was unknown .... Thats why the Word was addedIt doent mean it was an unknown Language..... it means the human language refered to here was not clear (unknown) All that was clear is it is a natural Human language ....Or God would have used a word meaning something else besides a natural human lanuage... You have nothing more to claim your view right than I would were I to claim its Chinese being talked of here ...It would just be guessing so it is with your interptation a guess to support a modern doctrine that never exsited ..til a few decades ago ...Its not what the verse says ....So repeating it over and over says nothing except you see what you choose ..Not whats said.

how arrogant and prideful for those on this thread to speak against scripture and the Holy Spirit. You do not believe your brothers and sisters in Christ who were gifted by the Holy Spirit to speak this wonderful spiritual language that only God can interpret. You are jealous and unwise to cause such division and argument. the only doctrine that should be disagreed with is that everyone should have this gift if born again, that is a false teaching and Paul teaches this clearly. Those who do not have this gift of tongues, and argue against it, need to repent, and except the Holy Spirit in all of His glory.

The gift was speaking the natural human languages of men to preach the gospel around the World how arrogant is it to follow the teaching of men instead of God ... Do you think the disciples could have taught God Words in foreign countries speaking gibberish that know one understands ? ... Men and their lies ... No wonder there is a famine in the land for the true Words of the Lord Amos 8:11-12 Babbel was never taught ... It was invented by men for men

I was curious as to why certain people like christina and jordan could be so far off in the understanding of scripture. Now I know, because they do not have the baptism of the holy Spirit, they do not even believe in the gifts of the Spirit. How can i expect them to have knowledge, wisdom, discernment. When they do not believe in tongues, interpretation of tongues, or prophesies. I assume you do not believe in healing, or miracles either. Because you have no faith. God will not give you knowledge when you refuse to believe His word.

The OP explains why we do not even need prayer language to speak to God for the Father knows before we even ask as in saying anything so what does that tell you?AND, we are called to stand apart from the world so why would God give tongues as a prayer language when it was already found in the world before the Gospel came? How could God call those out of the occult to be witnesses of Him if they appear to be doing the same practises as before?AND God is not a hypocrit to take a gift and bury it where no interest can be drawn from it when all the manifestation of the Spirit is to profit the body withal as listed.AND prayer language is not listed as a gift for tongues. Why skip over that? Tongues as listed are divers kinds of tongues that is followed by the interpretation of thise tongues. So the same kind of tongue in verse 2 is the same tongue Paul talked about throughout the whole chapter as needing interpretation and that was why he was exhorting prophesy over tongues as a singular gift to seek over ALL spiritual gifts because tongues is not a stand alone gift... ever. From verse 1 on, that was the point to exhort the gift of prophesy over tongues.Paul declaring that he spoke in tongues more than they all is proof that he did it only in church for him to make that claim for everyone to know that. If used privately, then how can he not appear as vainglorying as in exalting himself over others or causing someone else to rise up and say differently that he spoke more in tongues privately than Paul ever did? Therefore God would not have tongues used privately as a prayer language for that reason as well.AND there is no "another baptism of the Holy Spirit that comes with evdience of tongues". That is a lie and from the spirit of error for there is only ONE baptism of the Holy Spirit. We have come to our rest in Jesus when we believed on Him. Preaching another spirit not by way of Jesus Christ but after the spirit, claiming that to be the Holy Spirit, is an adulterous generation seeking after a sign. Are you not the Bride of Christ? Is not Christ Jesus the Bridegroom? Then put away tongues as a prayer language because God would not bother manifesting tongues as a prayer language. Let nothing come between you and Jesus for that is the thief and that is why the Holy Spirit is in you to fulfill the role of the Comforter and why Jesus is the ONLY Mediator between God and man... specifying the man Christ Jesus, our risen Saviour and our first love. He is the Shepherd of the sheep as He searches our hearts and knows the mind of the Spirit in us so that the Father in Heaven knows what we are going to pray vbefore we say anything at all! That is a comfort and a peace and truth of God in knowing that. So by the scriptures, what need be there for tongues as a prayer language? NONE!

I mean, it IS only scriptural

"...speaketh not unto men, but unto God." But that wouldn't be in prayer or praise.....would it?Of course not! That would mean you are wrong and we can't have that now, can we?
"Thats why the interpters added the Word unknown they didnt know what human language was being refered to here ....." - Christina-- Really? *snort* Care to provide proof of that? Sure sounds like your opinion to me. "If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal." (1 Corinthians 13:1) -- Noticed you skipped this verse. But you pretty much had to, didn't you?"... To assume its Angels language or prayer lanuage is just pure speculation and a lie it doenst say it that idea is without any support ..." -- Christina-- Praying and worshiping in the spirit is hardly "speculation." I do it every day. You could to if you weren't hemmed in by closed mindedness. At least you were smart enough not to refer to Adam Clarke's "expertise" again. Wise. Very wise...

This is what I am talking about, Christina. This is meat the Lord has provided to be given in due season. The reason why some believers will not hear is that Jesus spoke that the other sheep will follow a stranger's voice. Thewy will hear as the world hears.. which is gibberish. They will speak as the world speak which is gibberish. They hear us not for they have the spirit of error.John 10: 4And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. 5And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.1 John 4: 4Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 5They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 6We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. 7Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.They are being disorderly and not following the tradition taught of us, but they are still our brothers and sisters.2 Thessalonians 3: 1Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: 2And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. 7For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you; .... 14And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed. 15Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother. Your signature is a clue to the present state of those that seek after the Holy Spirit when He is already in them, given by promise by Jesus Christ and received by faith and not by sight. This is the prophesied falling away of the faith as the strong delusion for believing the lie for seeking another baptism of the Holy Spirit that comes with evidence of tongues is getting those tongues that are gibberish.2 Thessalonians 2:1Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first,........ 9Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.Being left behind from the marriage supper of the Lamb is being forever denied that first inheritance. That is a damnation in and of itself. This is how you get the vessels of dishonour in God's house as thye vessels of honour are at the marriage supper as judgment must fall on the House of God first. He doesn't do that coming back with the saints for how can they if they are to be judged first?1 Peter 4:17For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? Proof of this is what you all are trying to remind them of.. one baptism of the Holy Spirit at salvation.2 Thessalonians 3:13But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: 14Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle. Thus the fulfillment of this prophecy... as believers fall away from the faith to seek another spirit to receive which is after the rudiment found in the world and not after Christ.1 Timothy 4: 1Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; That is what they get for following the stranger's voice, but even then. He will finish His work in those left behind.John 10:14I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. 15As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. It is because of this promise and the will of the Father.John 6: 38For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. 39And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. 40And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.John 17: 9I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. 10And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them. 11And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. 12While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled. This set the precedent for the coming judgment on the House of God. 13And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. 14I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 15I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. 16They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 17Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. 18As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. 19And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. Now comes the refereces to the vessels unto dishonour that followed a stranger's voice.20Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. 22And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: 23I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. 24Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. The rapture is coming as His appearing and His kingdom are two seperate events. You cannot keep a promise to bring those that are ready to sit down with Him in the Kingdom of God if the saints are coming back wqith Him.John 14: 1Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.Where did Jesus go as to where He is now? Heaven. Then that is the place for the elect. All of Matthew 7:13-27 and Luke 13:24-30 spoke of a seperation between those that were ready and those that were not.God addressed the time of the coming great tribulation towards the seven churches that if they did not heed His instructions, they will not miss the hour of trial that will try all on the earth as those that do not repent of their deeds of fornication shall be cast into the great tribulation. This will be the fulfillment of the judgment on the House of God first as the seperastion of the vessels of honour and the vessels of dishonour in God's house shall be done.2 Timothy 2: 19Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. 22Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. 24And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will. This is what God would want you, Jordan, and SawmpFox to plow everything He has given you to this end by His grace and help so that you may present every believer as a chaste bride to Christ as many believers have forgotten their first love so that they may be found ready and abiding in Him when He appears.

"If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal." (1 Corinthians 13:1) The apostle Paul mentioned the tongues of angels, which are not likely to be human languages because angels were created long before humans were. Paul might have heard the language(s) of angels when he was taken up into heaven (2 Corinthians 12:1-7. Also see The Bible Knowledge Commentary, Walvoord and Zuck, Dallas Theological Seminary, p.535). Many people believe that speaking in tongues refers to the supernatural gift of speaking in unlearned human languages, but the above passage disproves that view. In other words, we have no way of knowing whether the Holy Spirit will choose to speak through us in a human language or an angelic language, so we cannot be dogmatic that tongues only refers to human languages.Paul said that if we are not speaking in love then we are just making a bunch of noise. This means that when we are speaking to other people we should do it in love, and therefore this is a reference to the public form of tongues.
As Paul was led by the Holy Spirit to teach, so will God lead by example. Is it love to send a gift that edifies no one, burying it in the ground to bear no interest? And yet Jesus spoke against that.Is it love to give tongues that Paul found to be unfruitful as he admitted that he understood it not? And yet all the manifestation of the Spirit are listed to profit the body withal in love.Is it love to seek after a sign after you were already a believer? Is it love to deny what He has done in having bought you as a price and sealed you as His with His Spirit of promise for believers to seek another spirit to receive so they can speak in tongues when Paul led by the Holy Spirit was exhorting others to seek prophesy over tongues? How can ot be love then when Paul led by the Holy Spirit says one thing, and yet no one listens as they seek tongues by departing from the faith to seek another baptism of the Holy Spirit?How can any wayward believer be seen as a chaste bride of Christ when they do not come to Jesus in asking for these spiritual gifts? How is it that believers are not becoming an adulterous generation when they seek after a sign?John 16: 13Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. 14He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.Philippians 1:11Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.John 14:6Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.So what spirit insist of taking Christ role as the only Mediator? Not the Holy Spirit.John 10:1Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. ... 7Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. 8All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. 9I am the door:1 Timothy 2:5For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Polar1 Corinthians 14:2 (KJV)"For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries."-- Again, the 'but unto God' part explains the speaking in tongues to pray and praise perfectly
The reason that it is saying that if you do go out and speak in a place where everyone is of another language then only God would understand; is that only God and the Spirit of God understands all languages. He caused the confusion into the languages at the tower of Babel, and when the true tongue of the Holy Spirit is spoken, it will be as it was at Pentecost. This tongue shall be spoken again when the Elect are brought up to give account of themselves, as recorded in Mark 13:11. When the Holy Spirit's tongue goes forth, every person around the world will listen to it and understand it at the same time and in the very dialect of their neighborhood. This is what is called the "cloven tongue". The "cloven tongue" needs no interpreter for it comes directly from the Holy Spirit. Mark 13:11 "But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost [Spirit]."The time that this shall happen is in our generation, just prior to the coming of the Lord. We are not to spend one moment thinking of this time, or in fear of what we should say, for at that moment the Holy Spirit will place within our minds the things that we should say. When the Holy Spirit speaks it will be through our mouths, but His Words. Acts 2:3 "And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.""Cloven tongues" are many different languages, and the time it is spoken is when one filled with the Holy Spirit speaks. There will be no confusion to anyone as to what is said, for everyone that hears will understand in his or her own language. The Chinese, Spanish and English listeners could standing be side by side, and each would hear the words spoken in their native language. That is the cloven tongue of the Holy Spirit. This is something entirely different than what Paul is speaking of here in I Corinthians 14. When the "cloven tongue" goes out in all directions it is understood with clarity no matter what language you are in. However here in I Corinthians 14 Paul was referring to one that was speaking in a language whereby the listeners did not understand what was being said to them.

"For he that speaketh in a tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God; for no man understandeth; but in the spirit he speaketh mysteries."-- 1 Cor. 14:2
This does seem more compelling for the "unkown" language of tongues. Also,,"For if I speak with the tongues of men or of angels but have not love...."I have seen my wife speak in tongues, I wont go into the circumstance, but it was a way of the Lord helping her out of a bad situation. Since I don't know all the languages around the world, and I don't know what Languagethe Lord uses in heaven. I've witnessed it and it was genuine. She hasn't done it since, and has stated that she has never again been compelled to do so.She's also stated that she knows it was the Lord. I too have prayed in tongues, but as for my experience, and not to discredit the Lord, I can't say for certain that It wasn't just me making it up. My experience didn't match my wifes. However,,, Whether tongues be the least of the gifts, or whether we believe it's tongues of men or of God. One things for sure, it is a gift of the Holy Spirit. I for one believe it's both, language of men and language of angels. It should be used correctly and in an order that isn't chaotic as some would do. There are certain facts that we know about tongues.1: It's a gift from God2: It should be used in a way that honors God and not glorify the man3: It is an utterance of a language unknown to the person speakingNow, it is easy to tell those who are making it up, as mentioned in about the man praying in the synagogue for everyone to see. I belive those people are just making it up. Such as a preacher who is on stage preaching the word, then all of a sudden his eyes roll back in his head and he starts just rambling in some "language". That's fake as all get out. Or even in the middle of the church someone jumps up raises their hands and starts yelling things in some "language" and knowing full well they can't interpret and no one else there can interpret. I believe that's fake too.Good examples of fake gifts, Tod Bently, Benny Hinn, and anyone that adds this, "Holy Laughter" or "slain in the Spirit" or anyone that runs around barking like a dog, howling like a monkey, or growling like a lion, or charging like a soldier with a war cry. If you wanna know what fake is, check out the "Toronto Blessing" or the "Florida outpouring"I've known people to speak in tongues in their sleep, my great grandfather was a pentecostal preacher. Even my aunt died in an explosion from a gas stove. My great grandpa laid hands on her and she came alive. She has scars from the burns from her neck through her torso and down her arms. As I've been told my great grandpa spoke in tongues as well. In light of that, I believe he was genuine. Althogh I never heard him speak or even met him, I know what I was told, and I know my aunt who is alive after dying.Either way, it's okay to think of tonges as one way or another. But, tongues should be in no way a thing to base a doctorine on. Tongues is in no way the only evidence of someone being saved. Not everyone speaks in a tongue.I'm not even going to quote the bible for this. Those of us debating this subject should already know the word of God good enough that I don't have to give you passages for the Gifts. If you don't know what the word of God says about all the gifts, then you should not be debating what you think. In my opinion, it would be a great idea if people that beleive in spiritual gifts would get out of the book of Acts and realize the Lord says manythings about many other things, and many different things about spiritual gifts. There are more books that compliment the book of Acts.

And yet again, no one tests the spirits but believes every one that comes on them.Yeah... I know there are those that fake tongues and faking being slain in the spirit and faking body twitchings on the floor and all of that, BUT NO, not all are fakes and not all tongues are of the Lord. There are those that do speak in tongues that has no interpretation just as there are those that were "hit" by some spirit to pinning them to the ground or striking them mute in mid-sentence or cause uncontrollable laughter to cause chaos in the assembly. But instead of testing the spirits, believers just applaud and go with the show and the flow of the "movement of the spirit". That is called not watching... and because of those supernatural experiences, they try to figure it out by reading inbteween the lines in the Book of Acts as they want it to be from God so they wind up preaching another baptism of the Holy Spirit that comes with evidence of tongues to receive.Which is not the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

This is so true I have to talked to people that they or the pastor put cyan pepper on their tongues so they could speak babble ..Or a sinner coming into the church and being told just fake it and it will come on you ... If you are a sinner why is God going to put his holy spirit on one who hasn't even fully accepted Christ yet... Others that came out speak of feeling like they been released from evil ... Others have had break downs ....

This is somewhat true. while tongues is a free gift to be used by any believer, you do get more proficient with it as the Holy Ghost uses you more and more.We need to spend more time reaching for what the Word says we can have and not talking ourselves out of it. Jesus Is Lord.

Jesus never spoke in a tongue, and he never told anybody else to.I don't tongue-speak because i've never felt the calling, but if it makes others feel closer to God I suppose it's alright so long as they're aware that Paul said in 1 Cor 14-It must be done in an orderly, controlled manner. If its done in a gathering, somebody must interpret. He'd rather they preached than tongue-spoke.
