Hi to all Christians,Could anyone be so kind as to explain why pride and vanity are sins?
No flesh shall glory in His presence. It is written that if anyone exalts himself, he will be humbled. If anyone humbled himself, he shall be exalted. The words of those that are first shall be last and the last shall be first declares that all those that glory, shall glory in the Lord. There will be no "stuck-ups" in Heaven. That is why down here that beauty is fleeting and charm is deceptive, but a woman that fears the Lord is greatly to be praised. For the church, there is to be no vainglorying. There is to be no exalting someone over another because they do not have an obvious gift of the Spirit and thus calling them dead or a church as dead, because by judging in that manner in condemning, one may be found outside of the will of God in that what they have may not be from the Lord then but of the spirit of error since we are called to love one another as proof that we are the children of God. Signs and wonders were to follow the believers, not for the believers to follow them. Tongues were a sign for unbelievers... not for believers as prophesying serves the believers and yet in spite of Paul being led by the Spiritb of God to ehoart a church to seek the gift of prophesy over ALL spiritual gifts as he downplays tongues in comparison to the gift of prophesy in 1 Corinthians 14th chapter, we have wayward believers preaching another baptis of the Holy Spirit that comes with evidence of tongues which is not the Gospel of Jesus Christ for there is only one baptism of the Holy Spirit 1 Corinthians 12:13 & Ephesians 4:4-6 and tongues are to come with interpretation to profit the body withal : 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 so that the gift of tongues that God gives is seperate from the tongues already found in the world when they seek after another spirit to receive: Isaiah 8:19 2 Corinthians 11:1-4 1 Timothy 4:1-2 2 Corinthians 13:5There is no need for prayer language( Matthew 6:4-8 )and thus tongues were never meant as a stand alone gift otherwise that would be God burying a talent in the earth, bearing no interest and profiting no one, going against His own words for what the gifts of the Spirit are for in profiting the body withal as well as going against the exhortation Paul led by the Holy Spirit earlier. As much as those "gifted" in error will proclaim others as a dead church if they do not follow after them, they are vainglorying and forgetting their first love when they preach another baptism of the "Holy Spirit" because it is not after signs and wonders that we have life, but by coming to Jesus we have life and through the scriptures ( John 5:39-40 )is the means by which we are edified through the knowledge of Him so that our love may abound yet more and more ( Philippians 1:9-11 ): not by seeking a sign and thus becoming an adulterous generation by relating to God the Father through the Spirit instead of through the Son for Jesus is the only way to God the Father. John 14:6So vainglorying as an example of pride and vanity being practised in the church is a result of a spirit of error as pride cometh before the fall for no flesh shall glory in His Presence in Heaven, we should lean on Jesus for wisdom that we are not exalting ourselves over others for that which we do to the least of the brethren, we may find ourselves doing it to Jesus. May the Lord help us to be humble as it is His workmanship in us that shall be manifested in Heaven to His glory and why we would cast our crowns at His feet for they are His crowning achievements in us for which we would give Him praise and thanksgiving for. Philippians 1:6 Psalm 100:3

Keith Green said it best in one of his songs: "It's so hard to see, when my eyes are on me..."It comes down to this...God doesn't like it when the favorite picture in your wallet is a mirror.
