Raecently I read a letter in the TV Plus where a reader spoke up against Harry Potter. As a Christian I wish to state that the Bible clearly tells usto have nothing to do with witchcraft. When I was 14 years old I had the most terrible experience. For a long time I heard voices that repeated over and over:'Harry must go'. As a Christian I would like to warn people who are crazy about Harry Potter. Rather stay away before you also have to experience the trauma that I did.I am praying for the salvation of everyone involved with Harry Potter some way or another. I've also sent e-mails to some of them to tell them that God loves them and that I will keep on praying for their salvation.

I agree, witchcraft, sorcery and magic are clearly a no no for me. I just try to distance myself from his films though.

I read 6 out of 7 of Harry Potter Books before becoming a Christian. There is nothing wrong with reading whatsoever, but I will say this book is dangerous to one's mind if they aren't full aware of evil spirits because they don't read the Bible... Movie, Books like these are a clear no no for me as well.

I wasnt condeming you or any other person who likes harry potters films i am merly saying its ok to watch it but dont practice magic and sorcery and all that. That can lead people down the wrong path. Collosins 2:8 clearly states to beware of the traditions of men and mens deception.

Meh no harm no foul, thats the main reason this site so appealed to me in the first place. Its kind people like you who drew me to this site. My old forum was filled with vile people that did nothing but harass me. Im glad to get away from that and i was just initially saying that i wasnt purposly trying to bash you or cause any drama. Like i say though no harm no foul

I know this probably won't earn me a lot of friends here, especially being my first post, but the Bible also says women should be put to death if they're not virgins on their wedding night. Harry himself is just a fictional character, now we can debate the context of what is and isn't "pure", but Harry is foremost a fictional character, nothing more, nothing less. It's not like Jo sacrifices goats to Satan, she just set out to make a book and was lucky enough to become rich off it, her intentions weren't evil by a long shot.

"Bible also says women should be put to death if they're not virgins on their wedding night"Just need to correct this statement. You left out the part that she is to be celebate while "betrothed". If she is not a virgin at the wedding night and the husband knows that it wasn't with him, he has the right to accuse her of "adultry". Being betrothed is under the same law as being married. This was the problem with Mary as Joseph knew he had not slept with her and yet she was pregnant. He had the right to demand her stoned to death for adultry. Then the Angel of God intervened. So, it wasn't for not being a virgin. It was for cheating with another. Now if she never claimed to be a virgin, she could not be held to that. Perhaps she was a widow or raped. If she claimed to be a virgin, then the husband would have been cheated in the contract as he must pay for his wife who was to be a virgin. Thanks for your patience in this as the whole story is most important.

It doesn't take away the fact that there are absurdities in the Bible in black and white. Why should Leviticus 20 be considered relevant today? What possible justification is there for putting someone to death because they dabbled in sorcery or somebody who fell in love with another man or woman. The Bible is a Holy Book, the only one of its kind, but there are a handful of things in it that aren't so Holy.

Why should Leviticus 20 be considered relevant today?
Because Christ died on the cross; and because the law was given for a people to remain true to God, looking beyond their personal lusts and desires.
Galatians 3:21Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
When the Bible is cherry-picked, the baby inevitably goes out right along with the bath water. The same book that claims divine inspiration foretold of a Christ figure that you follow; either it speaks the truth or it got lucky. We cannot discredit parts we don't like or understand, otherwise what exactly is the end of religion if it is create as you?

Harry Potter is not meant to be real. Anyone knows that, even lame-brains. Stop taking it so seriously and get a life.

At least the Potter books give kids an interest in the supernatural, so hopefully it'll whet their appetites and maybe when they get older they'll turn to the Bible which is full of TRUE supernatural things..:)

Thats a scary statement..................... J.K Rowling made a statement that she wanted her books to introduce Children to witchcraft. While MickinEngland may not find that to be a horrible Idea. I for one do not like her intentions. Books are just books. If you read something that has magic in it, then it does not mean your a practicing witch. Don't put yourself in bondage by making a big deal over fiction. I would not support anyone that wants children to get into Witch Craft. I would also guard your heart for out of it come the issues of Life. This includes lots of TV programs and Horror movies. God is not trying to take away our fun. He does not want us to sow things in our minds that will hinder our faith and cause mental issues latter. Even soap operas have cause Women to leave there husbands because the Hubby is not lining up with the smooth talking perfect husband in those shows. So, don't be deceived. Satan can use anything if your not on guard, not just books by Rowling.

Hello @gumpy,
I am sorry you have experienced harassment elsewhere, and hope your experience here will be only one of kindness.
Reading Psalm 109 tonight, has reinforced my belief that our response toward one another must always be one of love, even when we do not necessarily agree with one another.
Within the love of Christ our Saviour.
Chris

It has always been Satan's strategy to take something evil and make it look harmless, just like he did with the fruit in the garden.

Harry Potter uses real spells, when they are spoken or read, they unleash evil spirits into your life and dwelling. Lord rebuke it!
