Scripture gives us the following.... Submission to Rulers and Masters 1 Peter 213Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority, 14or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. 15For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men. 16Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God. 17Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king. 18Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh. 19For it is commendable if a man bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because he is conscious of God. 20But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. 21To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. 22"He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth."e]'>[e] 23When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. 24He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. 25For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. Here are the issues which we have to keep in mind..Number one, we are to preach Christ and the Gospel of Christ, not about temperal things which pass away with the wind. Number two, it is a political issue and Christians should not demonize their leaders, they may disagree with what they do that does not agree with Gods purpose but they should not attack the leader as a rule.Number three, we seperate ourselves from our brothers when we lay contentious issues that can cause another brother to take insult and cause him to stumble. Its ok to discuss what is being done and the issues that come up, but dont attack or make it your badge of honor or your central theme against the Man in office and powers that be just on general principal.God set up Alexander the Great and Julius Caeser for the empires of Greece and Rome for His purpose, and I know everyone here will agree that George Washinton and Abraham Lincoln were brought by God to lead America to make it the country it is today. A the time there was disagreement with each of them even to the point of their death, but yet history shows the results of their leadership. So lets leave politics to history, and if there are actions or policies we disagree with, then bring that out but dont put a man on the pedestal, focus on Christ instead and what He proposed for man and mankind..... As you can see for example the fight over G. W. Bush's election turned out to be nothing in the long run of historical perspective but at the time seemed to be insurmountable for those focused in on him and allowed much bitterness, hate and division to enter in among Christians. It is our duty to pursue Gods truth and not let institutions of goverment, kings, presidents, or tyrants keep us from it. They have been put there for a reason, God has set them up and will take them down according to His purpose and will, He will deal with them.

You would first need to define the word "Bashing."If it means criticizing him for his stance on partial birth abortions or voting against providing medical care for babies that survived an abortion procedure, then yes, I feel it is our obligation to voice or displeasure.

Well I do think christians on this board have been overcritical of Obama on things like foreign policies and bailouts, and political moves. ( heck we have basically named him the antichrist, and if thats not bad enough hes apparently the most clueless president of all time, and has a soul thats darker than Richard Nixon and Hitler combined.) you all want rush limbaughs autograph don't youbut its hard to disagree with Polars statements.in fact, you can't, we haven't voiced our displeasure enough.

But yet agian theres nothing i can do exept hope and pray that he changes his opinions and finds jesus. I see an angry man when i look at obama and i think that the only one that can help him is jesus.

Well, taking action in itself is not exactly bashing. Sometimes there is necessary to take hard actions towards someone. But in my honest opinion, bashing almost feels like it's align with hatred.

The Caesers and Roman Empire did more persecution and torture than Hitler and the Nazi, yet Christianity spread and flourished in the stability of the infrastructure during the Pax Romana. They did not fight against the Roman leaders and government despite the persecution and grew despite it. Remember the time that Paul used the fact he was a Roman citizen by birth, it shows the power and influence of the Empire. Then some may say why and how did the Nazi have a influence in the flow of history, well you can look and clearly see the affect they had on the Jewish diaspora and the creating of the Jewish state, and if you check you will find scripture shows the many times that God remembered and restored them starting with Moses bringing them out of Egypt.Evil is all around us and will be till the end, yet God still does His work according to His purpose and the plan of salvation that was prepared before any of us including Caeser, Hitler, Castro or Obama were born ....

I've often struggled with the question "how involved in politics should a Christian be?"In the U.S. we have been given a gift that people in other times did not have. God has placed us in a nation where we have a say in how we are governed. In fact, I believe we are responsible for how we use that gift. It is wrong to bash anyone. Thoughtful criticism of the government, however, is a right many have fought and died to give us. However, I also think it is vital for us to remember what this life is really about. We should never get involved in politics in a way that brings dishonor to Christ, or do anything that does not bring glory to Him. I have to admit, I've been guilty of doing that at times.

I see nothing unchristian about bashing his policies was it wrong to bash King Herod for his policy of killing all the babiesunder 2 ? If one goes into bashing him personally for his personal decisions that do not affect us ..Maybe one crosses a line but if he makes his views a public policy that effects us all its fair game IMHO.

I am saddened by what is going on politically in our country. But Scripture does exhort us to pray for those in charge. I Timothy 2:1 and 2:I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. We ought to pray every day for our country and pray for those who are making decisions. I’m not talking about praying for someone to have a nice day – rather we can certainly pray right decisions to be made. But that being said, let’s not forget about people like Daniel. He had a government job. His boss was an unbelieving pagan dictator. He lived in a culture where you could simply be executed without due process.Daniel had confidence in God and trusted God. The scriptures say that he took time out and prayed three times a day. The Bible doesn’t say what he prayed about day after day, week after week and year after year. Let’s not underestimate the power of prayer. And, in the meantime, let’s continue to build our personal confidence and trust in God.

My first post to this forum...actually second day of using any type of forum. Just trying a new venue to see if more Christians are going to rise up to the challenges we face today in America. Our culture has long been under attack, but soon it will be our churches and other Christian institutions as we move into a whole new age of persecution for our faith. If it will it be short-lived or long lasting is determined by OUR prayers, our repentance and our actions in the coming months. There is a plan. Please see www.TeaPartyNextStep.com and decide if "loving and serving your neighbor" through the political process is your new calling.

pretty much sums it up. If I am complaining about someone then I am faithless. It is eternally written. For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. There are plenty of others that are bashing Obama. I am not putting my mouth on a leader. How I feel about him makes no difference in what the scripture says.

Shouldn't we honor the fact that Obama won the election and try to support hm as much as we can? Not sure about the rest of you, but I wasn't happy with where the last 20 years have put us and surely would like to hope that some change is possible!

P.S. I leave the bashing to God's and stick to making sure my facts are coming from accurate sources so that I can respond in a sensible manner with facts......not bashing.

-- The man supports abortion, partial-birth abortion, and voted against providing medical care for babies that were born alive due to botched abortions.Somehow, the urge to join hands with him and sing Kum Ba Ya just...isn't...there.Those issues transcend politics. Those are not "personal issues." They are deeply moral issues, and I cannot set them aside.
