Leviticus 18: 19Also thou shalt not approach unto a woman to uncover her nakedness, as long as she is put apart for her uncleanness.1 John 2: 1My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.... 14I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one. 15Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.Matthew 6: 21For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. 22The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. 23But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!Proverbs 6:26For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adultress will hunt for the precious life. 27Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? 28Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?Romans 13:13Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. 14But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.Ephesians 6:10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; 19And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. 1 Peter 4: 3For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries: 4Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you: 5Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.1 Corinthians 10:12Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. 13There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. 14Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. 15I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.2 Peter 2:9The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished: 10But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities. 11Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.Jude 1:3Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. 4For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ....7Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. 8Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.... 16These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage. 17But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; 18How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. 19These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. 20But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,Romans 8: 4That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 5For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. 10And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. 12Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 14For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. 18For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 1 Peter 4:1Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; 2That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. Jude 1:21Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. 22And of some have compassion, making a difference: 23And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. 24Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, 25To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.1 John 3:3And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." -- James 4:7-- Resist temptation and it will flee from you, even with pornography. Is it easy? No.Do you have to do it alone? Of course not. Can you have victory? Absolutely. But you have to want to resist the sin and remove it from your life. Otherwise...

Actually, the verse says to submit to God first. The only reason the disciples could not cast out the demons was that Jesus said to them.. that they had little faith not only for asking why the disciples could not cast them out but as to the disciples as well for they were looking to the disciples to do it as the disciples were looking to themselves. Then Jesus said that this "kind" cannot go our except through prayer and fasting:prayer... submitting to God... and fasting... denying yourself as able.. and then you are able to resist the devil through the power of God and not by the will of the flesh nor the will of man.As to "kind" in referring to the spiritual and not the terrestrial or the natural, man cannot do it but God can. This is where trusting the Lord comes in as in believing on His Word.

So the only way to overcome a sin such as watching pornography is to pray and ask God to help you overcome it and help you resist the temptation?

By submit you mean to give yourself completely over to him right? I just don't understand what to do. I, like everyone else, have a hard time overcoming my sins but if I understand what you are saying correctly then I need to give myself over to God totally and completely if I ever want hope to overcome my sins. Is what I said true? I just don't know what to do. I have a lot to learn but I am trying.

I Corinthians 10:12-15I try to think on these words when presented with the opportunity to do something I know better than to do. As above, the submission and reverence to God (hence why Proverbs 1:7 makes the statement) is where it all starts. This is witnessed throughout the Word, Old Testament to New. I think you'll find that as Paul says in Romans, your old body will fall away. Your new birth in Christ will factor in and you begin to find disgust with what you do, knowing that it is wrong. You're only about half way there at that point, the rest is up to you. There are ways to fight the temptation, and God has said He will always give you a way out.The best advice is to replace evil with good; otherwise it will return.
Matthew 12:43-45When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.
Thus it will be for the wicked; we see this born out time and again in this world. Evil is ousted only for more evil than before to slip right in. As God's children, He gave us this letter of instruction on how to avoid that problem (the Bible).

So the only way to overcome a sin such as watching pornography is to pray and ask God to help you overcome it and help you resist the temptation?
By trusting the Lord that He is going to do more than just dying for you in making you His. Yes. He will help you overcome the desire for pornography to help you live as His.Hebrews 2:18For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.Have scriptures available for that is how the Lord rebuked the devil with his temptations and so we have confidence in the Lord that He will help us overcome.Hebrews 4: 12For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. 14Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.Effects of Internet PornographyDo note that to avoid temptations is to not make any provision for the flesh. Ask Jesus to help you get rid of any pornographic material laying around. Then after that is done and burnt, lean on Jesus to help you cut off those accesses to porn. Here is a link that can help for on the internet. Of course, one can avoid the internet by not having internet services. There are other things to do besides going on the internet, but this is available. SaferAccess Filtered Internet Services

A reminder to all those thyat are new to the internet that make sure your internet dial up number is local or you will have a whopping phone bill.I have never used this service so I do not know the wide range of local dial up services available. The only other option is to not have any internet access at all. Find another hobby. Believers can survive without the internet.A reminder of the promise from God for all that read this:All those that call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved... and that includes from their sins and not just from eternal death.Sin will not have dominion over you. Believe in Him and trust Him to be your Good Shepherd in leading you away from temptation and delivering you from the evil one as well as sins.

One thing that really helps me is I remember that"the wages of sin is death"When I think of this I ask myself what kind of death is going to be attached to me because of this sin that I am about to commit? Will it be sickness, marriage turmoil,etc.. When we attach the wage to our temptation is a good way to help discourage you from falling into this snare!Something else that I do when I am built up strong in the Lord is I confront the woman that may be tempting me with the improper way that she is dressed! When you start confronting the temptations this way the enemy doesn't like it!Hey check out my new book: Be an Ultimate Fighter of the Real Enemy! at:www.beanultimatefighteroftherealenemy.comHave a blessed day!

Just trust Jesus and all of His promises to you that He will do it, lead you away from temptation and deliver you from the evil one. Just confess how much you need Him to help you live as His and trust Him to be Your Good Shepherd for He is more than just the Saviour to us. He is also the Bridegroom and Our Enabler for the power in living the christian life is of God, not of man. So heed His instructions and make no provision for the flesh and cut off access to internet porn by not having internet connection. There are hobbies that one can engage in. Ask Jesus to help you read His words as one of them hobbies to do on your personal time.

I almost forgot. If you try to do it by keeping your commitment to follow Christ: you will fail. You cannot overcome the flesh by the flesh and look to Him for help. That has made me a yo yo as in double-minded for most of my christian life till 1994 when Jesus had set me free.Either I believe in His Covenant and trust Him to do it, or He is going to keep on waiting till I give the battle completely over to Him by faith to do it.But we do no frustrate te grace of God by sowing to the flesh or make provision to fulfill the lust thereof. That means the swimsuit edition of Sports Illustrated has to go too and any comic books, movies, music, and what nots that gets one started to even think about lust.We have to put those things away with His help if we are to start on the road of faith in getting to know Him and the power of His resurrection in overcoming sin in living the christian life.So if we do it religiously... yeah.. every believer will fail. Do it by trusting the Lord; victory will come. I speak from experience in regards to all sin as sin does not have dominion over me thanks to Jesus. It doesn't mean I will not get tempted. It just means that it serves as a reminder how much I need Him to live as His.That is why it is written that the just shall live by faith in Him and all His promises to us.

John 8:31Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.1 John 2: 14I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.The key to doing that with Jesus help is this below.1 John 2: 15Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.Philippians 4:13I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.Philippians 3: 14I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.Philippians 1: 6Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:.... 9And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; 10That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ. 11Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

Philippians 4:7And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. 9Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.Colossians 3: 16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Hey everyone I have very good news! I have been struggling with this sin for a while trying to stop but I just couldn't and I would still do it and feel bad about it. So I prayed to God and asked him to help me because I cannot stop on my own free will. My prayer has been answered and I am so grateful. Praise the power of our Lord and Savior!
