Masks only need to be worn by those infected. It doesn't keep healthy people from getting the virus. Those that are infected it only serves to slow down the particles from travelling far enough to reach healthy people.

Which is important given how some folks can be infected and not know it (because they're asymptomatic). It's best just to be safe, protect others, and ride this out until treatments/a vaccine are developed.

Or you could follow the guidelines and avoid getting infected at least until there's a vaccine and/or effective treatment, thereby protecting those around you, the vulnerable among us, and health care workers.
Hmm, do you really believe following the guidelines keeps one from getting infected?
Shrug...I rarely go in a store and I work at home and live in the woods. You can not get much more social distanced than I already do on a normal year.
I did say be careful, meaning don't hug my 90 some year old Dad, but we aren't the huggy types anyway. We can still visit outside on nice days.
I wear a mask at the post office, but the masks people make are not going to keep the virus out anyway. I'm not sick, so what does the mask do? Nothing.

No, it's this sort of childish reply from conspiracy theorists that leads me to conclude that such folks are either intellectually lazy, rather slow, or both.

You know you should stop talking about yourself in the mirror again. Again, that's your reality and not mine.

I think the masks are worthless. It's all feel good solutions that really do next to nothing. I'm not saying don't be careful, but you are going to be exposed at some point. Accept it and go back to your life. Boost your immune system if possible.
THe medical people and the president and vice president and so forth agree sort of.
The masks DO NOT protect the one wearing the masks.
THEY MIGHT or MIGHT NOT make a difference if you meet someone immune compromised.

The false knowledge of the world, thus the false reality of the world, is not something to be desired , sought, nor valued, ever.

So in that regard, no problem for you. For the world and for everyone who loves the wrold, or the things of the wrold, big continuing problems every day all the way unto judgment.

p.s.
perhaps, for those who have a healthy immune system (and 'good' physiology? , if that's the way to put it) , 'normal' happening is for the pathogen, if there is one, gets exterminated. So then it does not even ever get passed on to infect anyone else, eh?

All of this talk but who has a single workable solution in the best interests of everyone? To which experts or specialists should we listen?

My wife, now 69 years old, with damaged lungs has had a severely compromised immune system for many years due to the use of steroids prescribed by physicians against the chronic asthma which was killing her. Whose prescription should she heed now? She simply stays home all of the time with no visitors at all … not even her children and grandchildren.

Are people wanting to open things up now for the sake of jobs or the economy or because they want to enjoy themselves... or as the best solution for the sickly and/or vulnerable? Perhaps we are the expendable "few" outweighed by the needs [or is the "desires"] of the many...?

"In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes." Judges 21:25

"O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps." Jerem 10:23

Does make you wonder, does it not? Help us dear Lord!

That's precisely why I suggested APAK and his fellow conspiracy theorists should volunteer to serve as the control group in tests of social distancing. But that's the thing with conspiracy theorists....they're willing to gamble other people's lives on their conspiracies, but not their own.

Even if one or more of them has an ideal solution according their knowledge and experiences, who has the power to make a difference? Who has the power to implement it? But... first again, why should someone not an expert or a specialist listen to any of them before his own known medical doctors and government officials with access to the best minds and information available?

So then back to Solomon's written wisdom again... from 3,000 years ago:

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones." Prov 3:5-8

@amadeus the country should not be brought to a halt for a few of the population. Those people are welcome to stay home.
I certainly agree with this, but the country has already been brought to a halt. What could have been or should have been will not change what is...

It would have been better if Adam and Eve had obeyed God at the first, but it was their choice and it is done. My wife is staying home. We are making as many necessary purchases online or by phone and having them delivered. I am the one who goes out when there is no other possibility... and then it is me the culprit or potential carrier who is exposed to any fool who is being careless [whatever that is?] and it is me that will bring it to my wife... I seldom get the flu or any such thing that is contagious, but I certainly do carry things to her... as I know from long experience...

That's the thought behind the cartoon I posted a while ago where the person says "Your expertise is no match for my confidence".

And sadly, as is shown by the post above, some people see folks like you and your wife as expendable. Kind of this...

I can relate without selfishness. My wife and I would like to go out to a restaurant again, but how many people would we be willing sacrifice to accomplish it? None, if we could help it.

It reminds me too much of what was happening in Germany the 1930's. Unless you were a Jew it all seemed to be for the best to the other Germans considering their economic situation with some exceptions, such as the Jehovah's Witnesses. Strange that one of the most significant religious objections to the ways of Hitler was to be found in a group most people on this forum call a cult. But... they went to concentration camps for what they believed. How many here would do that given the choices offered to the German JWs?

How many Americans and others died to put down the tyranny of Hitler... yet our nation to me is looking more like Hitler's Germany as time goes by...

@Justadude I know you do not hold onto God as I do, but perhaps you can understand why I see Him as the only Way to find real peace in comfort considering what really is happening. This virus is not the whole picture. We, all of us, who lean on God, should not really be worried and I certainly am not... Hopefully there are many others here simply trusting in Him. Remember Corrie Ten Boom who was neither Jew nor JW!

Exactly. I'd love to go play some golf again, but if me not going for a few months helps save lives, it's obviously worth it.

I get your point, but I'm hesitant to make comparisons to Hitler's Germany, given the unique set of circumstances.

Hey, if it helps you get through tough times, all the better! :)

You know you should stop talking about yourself in the mirror again. Again, that's your reality and not mine.

G'day my fellow ANZAC from across the Tasman

You are sensible to be skeptical I think. Weather C19 was intentionally released is debatable but one thing is clear, it's being taken advantage of
Our PMs, ScoMo and Ardern are puppets. They have no idea what to do or when to do it.
They are just following what America does instead of applying our own strategy based on our unique situation

First ScoMo told us it would last 6 months based on these models which were not even close (same modelling programs used by climate change people). Then he releases this tracking app and says you can go out once we have 40% of the population on it. Then he says if we don't get enough people to download the app he could make it mandatory. This is unacceptable

Talk of mandatory vaccinations is also unacceptable. It really is a sad story how the vaccine industry has managed to bribe governments and convince people that their children require countless vaccines for diseases which aren't dangerous, are rare and treatable. In the USA their kids have 72 vaccines by the age of 18 yet their child death ratio is shocking

God made man and woman and gave them the earth with all its animals and plants
To fight against disease he gave us our immune system, not vaccines
And the immune system has dominated over disease as Adam and Eve multiplied to almost 8 billions people

Im not anti vax or pro vax. Im pro common sense, pro science and pro God
