James 1:27 (New International Version)27Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

I would like to help you, but I'm not really a song writer.

Perhaps you should just write what you have on your heart, how you feel about orphans, how orphans might feel when they are left alone, how they feel when someone cares, etc.

Wishing you much success.

I'm not a song writer, either, but I have a few ideas for you...

This Scripture that you quoted from James reminded me of Psalm 68:5 -- "A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation." Then Psalm 146:9 says, "The LORD watches over the strangers; He relieves the fatherless and widow; But the way of the wicked He turns upside down." Since God is a father to the fatherless relieving the the orphans and the widows, and He tells us to reach out to the orphans and widows, I was reminded that we should be the hands and feet of Christ. Maybe you could put something like this into your song? I am also reminded of the Scripture in which Paul says, "How will they hear without a preacher?" I think that all of your points are good; if we are unsure of what to do for God, just do SOMETHING -- anything is better than nothing, because people are dying to hear the truth! If God has placed this on your heart -- and it sounds like He has -- I would encourage you to keep praying about it, keep "tinkering" with it, and keep writing what is on your heart. Don't let discouragement stop you; the world needs to hear this message.

God bless.

Best wishes,
Rudy

What do you have for Lyrics so far??? Do something for God, do something for God.

The issue I have is that each of us have a plan and calling. Doing things that seem scriptural and good, may not be what the Holy Spirit have anointed us to do. I see lots of Good church programs run out of money, and close, because someone just had a good idea, and God was not involved.

If we do as God has called us to do, then everything gets covered. We are all suppose to be doing our part as fit into the Body. Some are eyes, some ears, some feet.

Doing things you are not anointed to do, will just cause confusion. Your song also sounds like, Jesus did something for us, we need to pay him back somehow. In reality we are expected to obey and do as we are called. It is not out of pay back, but out of obedience.

Christ died on the cross for us, so we should do something for him

This sounds like a pull on emotion, and we should never be led by emotion.

Luk 17:9 Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not.
Luk 17:10 So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

I would rather hear a song about being a doer of the Word of God, do your part in the kingdom, find your calling, and do as your suppose to do.

Jesus Is Lord.
