Joh 9:40 And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?
Joh 9:41 Jesus said unto them,
If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth. Pay attention to the rest of the scriptures above and below. The Far-sighted-ee's were upset because of the Healing of the Blind man on the Sabbath. Jesus came to show God's true character and Nature, that the well being of man was far more important than traditions of men. The far-sighted-ee's claimed they understood everything and were followers of Moses. Because of the standard Jesus set, These men sin remained because they claimed to know the truth, they witnessed the truth, yet refused to believe not only Jesus but their own scriptures concerning Jesus. Even those that knew the scriptures, and knew who Jesus was still did not change because they liked the praise of men more than God. So, knowing the truth, and still rejecting the truth after being shown is what Jesus was referring to. He had nothing to do with their thinking or choices, but set the standard against that thinking.
Joh 12:40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them. Now who blinded them? The Word!!! for the word judges the thoughts and intent of the Heart, and sets the standard. Keep reading, some did believe on Jesus but would not confess him because they valued their position and did not want put out of the synagogues.Jesus tells us if we keep reading what caused the blindness. It was the Word of God.
Joh 12:48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him:
the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
Joh 12:42 Nevertheless among the chief rulers also
many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:
Joh 12:43 For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. Many saw Jesus in their own Word. Many knew Jesus was, who he said he was. They choose not to acknowledge Him. This was not God's doing but God's word that set the truth before them.
Acts 7:42 and
Rom. 1:24-28. both say God gave them over to what they wanted to believe. In other words, man had a choice and they picked the wrong choices.Don't confuse the power of God's Word to set a standard and show what sin is with "GOD" blinding people on purpose. It was the People's right to choose the Word, or their own ways. The Word shows men things that they need to give up and walk away from. Because they do not want to stop doing the evil they do, they harden their heart to the standard of the Word. If they will not Hear God's Word, then God will give them over to their own lust as there is nothing else God has to show them truth. In a sense it is God that caused their hearts to be hardened. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the WORD WAS GOD. However, its not God picking and Choosing who will listen and who will not listen because all have accesses to the Word. Jesus said take Heed what you hear, for what measure YOU meet it shall be measured back to YOU.
Mar 4:24 And he said unto them,
Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given. Mar 4:20 A
nd these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred. It was not God the choose what measure you get back, It's YOU and How you take Heed to what you hear. It's the Word!!! It's men that have a choice to believe or not believe. The standard of the Word is to high for some, not wanting to give up their life style of sin. Jesus Is Lord.
