There’s another word the equivalent of ἐγκατα, ἐγγύς, which means ‘near’, ‘imminent’, ‘nigh’, ‘at hand’—‘here!’. Yet it is disposed with every anathema in papal vocabulary, that in Mark 15:34 Matthew 27:48 it means desolate separation and infinite forsaking of Jesus into some complete absence of God and Father, and so not nearly resembles our salvation wrought by God through Jesus in Full Fellowship of Father, Son and Holy Spirit : at the very point where, when and as Jesus ENTERING DEATH THE DEATH OF DEATH ON THE CROSS, ‘ENTERED IN HIS GLORY’, “giving into Thy hands My Spirit”.

This, the centre of the universe and time and of the POWER OF GOD TO SAVE, HERE, Antichrist denies the Son of God and together with the Father and all Faithfulness of God Tri-Une, defies Christ’s Salvation wrought and “finished”.

But far from forsaken, and in Divine Oneness with the Father, Jesus, HERE, with Mighty Voice cried: Victory!: “So that unto THIS (hina/eis ti) Thou hast SANCTIFIED Me (enkatelipes)!” ἵνα τί με ἐγκατέλιπες; Not deserted Me! Yes, add a question mark and add to the intensity of the immediate REALITY: “INTO THY HANDS I COMMIT my soul!”—which is what ἐγκατέλιπες in the Gospels mean, 100% not the smallest fraction less.

Because . . .
Romans 13:11-13
. . . knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. 13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. 14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

“The Kingdom of heaven (of God Luke 10:9,11; 21:31) is AT HAND” [engidzoh].

“Behold, the hour is at hand … he is at hand that doth betray me” Matthew 26:45 Mark 14:42.

My Time is at hand” (engus) Matthew 26:18.

“The Jews’ passover was at hand” John 11:55.

Our Salvation is near” [enguteron] Romans 13:11.

Hebrews 9:
18 Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood.
18 Ὅθεν οὐδὲ ἡ πρώτη χωρὶς αἵματος ἐνκεκαίνισται.

ἐγκατοικέω – stay / dwell among

ἐγκαταλείπω - leave alone / forsake

2Timothy 4:10,16

ἐγκαταλείπω - “send into” / “leave in in”

Mark15:34 Matthew 27:48

Jesus “sent in into” : “the near Kingdom”, “sanctified” :

“27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.”
27 ὅτι οὐκ ἐνκαταλείψεις τὴν ψυχήν μου εἰς Ἅιδην οὐδὲ δώσεις τὸν Ὅσιόν σου ἰδεῖν διαφθοράν.

As Jesus, entering death the death of death on the cross, declared, “Into Thy hands I commit My Spirit”, He ‘ENTERED IN HIS GLORY’

When Jesus asks, "why have thou forsaken me" wasn't he quoting a Psalm?

Suffering and dying on the cross, Jesus, “OPENLY triumphing in it”, with the death of death entered upon death. “With a great Voice crying” to the Father, Jesus called out, “Into Thy hands I commit My Spirit”, and “ENTERED IN HIS GLORY”, where, in death and grave, God visited Jesus with honour and exaltation “according to the Scriptures", and "raised Him from the dead : Lord and Christ.”

“FOR THIS [‘eis ti’] SO THAT [‘hina ti’]
Thou hast SEPARATED and FENCED
and RESERVED and SANCTIFIED Me
[enkatelipes Me]” and
“hast NOT forsaken Me”, so that
“He shall return – resurrect –
“and the Holy Seed – Acorn –
“shall be the Substance in the Oak.”

The Father never would have and the Father never had, ‘forsaken’ Jesus—banish the blasphemous, Roman Catholic idea!

Therefore, where did the KJV translators get their version of the meaning of the word 'enkataleipoh' from? From where the word 'Why hast thou forsaken me' in Mark 15:34 Matthew 27:48 for ἐγκατέλιπες?

I have never tried to find out up until now. So let me take a guess -- from Jeremy's Vulgate? Let's go check ... Mark 15:34 Matthew 27:48 Vulgate ...

34Et hora nona exclamavit Jesus voce magna, dicens : Eloi, eloi, lamma sabacthani ? quod est interpretatum : Deus meus, Deus meus, ut quid dereliquisti me ?

46Et circa horam nonam clamavit Jesus voce magna, dicens : Eli, Eli, lamma sabacthani ? hoc est : Deus meus, Deus meus, ut quid dereliquisti me ?

Bull's eye!

Yes, and He quoted Isaiah 6, first, I would say. ἵνα τελειωθῇ ἡ γραφὴ, λέγει Διψῶ.
that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. (Isaiah 58:5-10)View attachment 9462

Actually the words of Jesus ..,..Eli Eli Lamah sabachthani...are a combination of Psalm 22:1 and Gen.22. with the ram caught in the thicket.

A sevach is a thicket...and to be entangled is the verb form...sabach. So then Jesus said...My God MY God why have you entangled me? (not forsaken) And this is to signify that God Himself is providing His own Son like a ram caught by a thicket by it's horns...hence the crown of thorns.

So in this way God adds in 2 levels of prophecy into one statement. Truly glorious. (if one can understand it)

God be praised for your wonderful post with so much NEW light from God's Word for me! Thank you very much

You endorse everything I have written on this subject; and I agree with what you have found and presented here ... except for your comparison of 'thicket' with 'crown of thorns'. Rather, I would think, the symbolism of 'sabach' <<like a ram caught by a thicket by it's horns...>> correlates perfectly with the election, selection and seclusion – "fencing in"–‘enkataleipoh’ of the passover lamb Christ in His Suffering Death and Grave his "valley of death" (Psalm 23). Remember Jesus is The Lamb of God Our Passover. Compare Abraham's offering of his son and the deer which the LORD provided.
See several notes / posts elsewhere.
