Prophets, hmmmm! In my view a prophet is recognised by where his/her emphasis lies.
As with the words of Paul and the passion of the other Apostles 'I am determined to know nothing except Christ and him crucified'
Does this mean they have nothing else to say about anything? Hardly, but it does reveal where their emphasis/heart is.

Pulling out isolated prophecies to prove anything is fraught with danger. Most do not check or are even willing to check their context.

Modern day Prophets are quickly determined …'to the law and the testimony, if they speak not according to this word their is no light in them'. Isaiah 8:20

Who has the courage to evaluate according to Isaiah's words above? Isn't it true that most favour their prejudices and their preconceptions and will argue to the death for them rather than understand, submit and use this uncomplicated direction.

That's why I look for the full content of a prophecy.

Like with Kim Clement's Trump prophecy, I had never heard this part before, he says that this president will be a man of few words, and that in fact others will tell him to speak more. So that's interesting! I feel like we need to evaluate the entire prophecy, not just snippets, and not just predictions either, but the doctrines implicit in what's being said.

Much love!

Well since how you "think" it should be is carnal knowledge it can be considered opinion. You have no idea how He speaks through His messengers....
Since you want to turn this subject into a matter of how and what you believe then I will just humbly agree to disagree since I don't believe as you do.
Have a blessed day.
H2S, this is not my opinion. God set the example through Scripture. I am merely following what has been evidenced and prescribed in the past, by inspired men. It is you who is making your own rules. You are the one who cannot substantiate your convictions of what is authentic or not, through Scripture. I am the one who followed and defined prophecy, by the pattern that was set in the Bible.

You are the one employing subjectivity, and thus, having the carnal opinion.

Modern day Prophets are quickly determined …'to the law and the testimony, if they speak not according to this word their is no light in them'. Isaiah 8:20

19 And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits and unto the wizards, that chirp and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? on behalf of the living [should they seek] unto the dead?
20 To the law and to the testimony! if they speak not according to this word, surely there is no morning for them.

Definitely if they direct you to familiar spirits and mediums you should not regard them.

Much love!

I've been trying to find a transcript of this full prophecy, have you been able to read one? Have you listened to the entire prophecy?

Much love!
I read a few online. His website has an archive of them.

This is the sort of thing I'm looking for. Prophecy that is detailed in the way Biblical prophecy is, and that is fulfilled with the same detail.

I don't like that this is turned to a discussion on the validity of prophets today, I'm more interested in the content of modern prophecy, if it has been fulfilled.

Much love!
Understood, and I agree with your criteria, ...but, once you pose the question, you know that invariably, there will be dispute over what one deems to be authentic and transpired prophecy. You threw down the guantlet.

Would you believe even with evidence or would you find some kind of explanation....

Sigh:
I know you don't think I hear from Him accurately....but it is difficult to say some of the things I hear and discern because it wouldn't be received.

5 profound prophesies He spoke through me came to pass. After my husband died I went off into a dark wilderness for many years. After returning it had been difficult getting back into fellowship and prayer with my Father and hear His voice...but that's in the past and I am back in fellowship with Him and I am listening...I have been obedient to speak what He has given me to say many times.....and they came to pass or were revealing of a past or current situation....I am not going to list all of them and some are too personal to mention...but I will share some...only as a testimony to Glorify God not myself......I don't need anyone's praise or attention...

Here are the 5 prophesies:
1984-Speak to my servant Ben...."the woman you are committing adultery with from the church is called, chosen and anointed for my purpose, repent and turn away from this sin unless My wrath shall come upon you and you shall not live"....he died in 1985....the woman is a missionary, singer and songwriter in Africa.

1985- move to Tulsa, Friday..."I want you to move to Tulsa....(if you want me to move Father you have to pay the way because I can't afford it)...Monday my boss offered me a position in Tulsa...company paid everything for me to move.

1989-2. What he intended for you will happen to him, Friday......"read Psalm 109...come Monday what he intended for you will happen to him...I will remove him from his position and you will take his place"...Monday he was fired and I was given his job.

1995- the corrupt leadership will be removed and a Godly company will take their place...."those in authority and leadership over you will be removed and I will transfer this company to a people who seek after me and who honor me, for the corruption of the present leaders have sown corrupt seeds and will reap a corrupt harvest."...in 1997 the stock holders tried to do a hostile takeover because of the loss of profits....in 1999 the company filed bankruptcy...in 2001 a company from Michigan bought the whole operation and the owners a Christians.

1996- pastor will be removed...."speak to my servant and say to him repent and turn away from this adultery and return back to your wife and newborn son and I will have mercy and forgive you and the church will grow, disobey and I will remove your candle and close these doors."....6 months later over half the congregation had left after learning of the affairs...and the ministry could not sustain itself financially and the doors were shut.

1998- last Christmas, June..."this will be the last Christmas you will share with your husband...(I prayed God would change His mind and heal him...but all He said was pray for his salvation)....pray for divine appointments of those who he will respect and listen to and will turn his heart back to me"....(I cried and cried but obeyed and asked that He would just let him go to sleep and not suffer)...June 25, 1999 I woke up and he was dead.
And there were other ones that were more edifying but after his death it all stopped.

Now I am back and having to exercise my faith and discipline myself to pray again...

That's my story.

It is interesting that many of these "prophecies for the nations" contain information that is more general than specific; for example, a major earthquake is going to shake California to its foundations. Of course, all one has to do is wait for the next predicted earthquake, which will happen anyway, and then when it happens, people will say, "The prophet is right! His prophecy has come to pass!" But in reality, earthquakes are happening in California and another big one is quite predictable anyway. It is the same with those who are saying that Covid-19 is the fulfillment of a prophecy. But there have been pandemics happening on a regular basis anyway.

That is the deceptive nature of these false, dreamed-up prophecies. They speak of events that are going to happen anyway. But they don't give absolute specifics that would prove that it is the particular prophecy that has come to pass. It is the same with "prophets" predicting the return of Christ in a particular year. One day, they are going to be right! :D

Benny Hinn gave a prophecy in the early 1970s, that by 1974 the gay community in California will be destroyed by fire. It never happened. In fact, he has given a number of prophecies that never happened.

I feel sorry for all those deluded people who gave up their jobs, sold their homes and possessions, because of a prophecy that Jesus was going to come that year. When He didn't come and the prophecy was shown to be false, those people lost everything; because they believed a self-appointed pelican hockey puck who dreamed up nonsense and got those people to believe him.

God does not speak to the nations through prophets any longer. Hebrews 1 says that although God spoke through His prophets in times past, in these last days He speaks through His Son, Jesus Christ, and that the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. Therefore there is no such office as the office of Prophet in these last days, and the only prophetic word spoken is to point people to Jesus as the Author and Finisher of their faith, that they come to believe the gospel and become His disciples.

Therefore, anyone to gets up on his hind legs and advertises himself as a prophet to the nations and to the body of Christ is a dreamer, and God has not sent him; and if people choose to believe his nonsense, then they have to bear the consequences.

Hopefully no one will misunderstand me. I'm not cessationist. I believe God gives His spiritual gifts in the modern day. Including prophecy.

There is so much prophecy out there. Prophecies from 40, 50 years ago, prophecies from now.

When Ezekiel prophesied Tyre would be scraped off into the sea, it was. After he prophesied that the bare rocks would be used for fishermen to dry nets they did.

When Isaiah prophesied to the king that his enemies would be gone by the time this child was weaned they were. When he prophesied Babylon would be taken by Cyrus it was. When he prophesied the gates would be open for him to get in they were.

When the prophet said Jericho's foundation would be laid with the death of the firstborn it was. When the gates were hung, the youngest son died according to the same prophecy.

Elisha, I think, was who said to the king's wife, when you return to your city your child will die, and it did.

Josiah was the one who burned the bones of the priests on their altars, according to the prophecy of the man of God.

Can anyone show me a prophecy from the modern day that was specific, and fulfilled with the same specificity?

Are there any examples of this? Not something we have to fudge. Not something vague, that we can kinda match to something.

Something specific.

Is there anything out there like that?

Much love!

marks,

This thread seems to expect NT prophecy is the same as predictive OT prophecy. Is that the case, especially in light of 1 Cor 14:3, 24-25 (NIV):

'The one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort.... But if an unbeliever or an enquirer comes in while everyone is prophesying, they are convicted of sin and are brought under judgment by all, as the secrets of their hearts are laid bare. So they will fall down and worship God, exclaiming, ‘God is really among you!’

Instead, God sees prophecy as a revelation that comes to someone and the person speaks (no more than 2-3). The prophecies need to be 'in turn so that everyone may be instructed and encouraged' (1 Cor 14:30-31 NIV).

Therefore, NT prophecy is for edification in the church gathering and is not predictive like OT prophecy.

Oz

Hi Oz,

I don't know if you saw this post . . .

OT prophets often gave prophecies fulfilled in the prophet's lifetimes. That's how people knew they were prophets.

If someone claims to prophesy, shall we just say, OK, you're a prophet? The Bible tells us to let the prophet speak, and let the others discern.

So, let's look at what prophesy is. Correctly expressing God's Word, would you agree? There is exhortational, it either exhorts or it doesn't. Does it build us in the Spirit? Instructional, either it is true to Scripture or not. We test a prophecy's agreement with the Bible.

There is predictive. So for that, how do we know a true prophet? If the prophecy is fulfilled, I think is the one true way.

I've seen so much that obviously isn't, I've seen some that is, but only at personal levels. I've been aware of Kim Clement for some time, he's the one that currently interests me most.

So my question . . . have modern prophecies been fulfilled?

God seemed to put a big emphasis on the accuracy of the prophets. He told the people to not be afraid of the prophet who's prophecy does not come to pass.

So I'm asking who's prophecies have come to pass?

Much love!

I think that the other forms of prophecy are shown in their agreement with Scripture, and in the fruitfulness in the hearers. There is the discerning of spirits also.

For those who include predicting in their prophecy, that's where this thread comes in. Do they have predictions which came to pass, and and in the way that they said?

Much love!
