Ouch!
Is that some new doctrine that you came up with?

When they came to capture Him in the Garden, why did they all "fall back" when they asked which on was Jesus and He answered "I AM" using His God name ...and it say "they fell back"...

Just saying...

HI Helen, Also something about that "NAME" ... JESUS. it was here before the world began. God name "JESUS" was not given in the OT, because he had not yet came in person.... in "flesh". but the name was already here, supportive scripture. Luke 2:21 "And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb."

HOLD IT, STOP THE PRESS. no one can name a child befor it is conceived. maybe before it is BORN, but NOT berfore conception. before conception, there is nothing to name. so the Name JESUS was already was here, just not yet manifested.

people can give a name while one is pregnant, because they are expecting. but before conception? no.

God is a God of his word, Isaiah 52:6 "Therefore my people shall know my name: therefore they shall know in that day that I am he that doth speak: behold, it is I." what day was that? scripture,

John 8:24 "I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins."

"I AM he". Helen, you're correct.

The best way to learn is to ask questions.
A person can sometimes use a line of questioning that becomes critical of God, they should be reminded. I try my best not to fall into this trap

I think us humans can get caught up in trying to explain things that we don't really understand
There is nothing wrong with saying "God, i just don't know, so I put my faith in you"
I actually love saying that, i feel humble when i do, submitting to God and admitting that my intelligence is but a fraction of Gods wonder
It seems like that I now have more questions that when I first began. Answers? Sometimes I have answers, but quite often I have seriously questioned those answers. God does know every answer, but what has He shared with men and what will He share with men is yet another question? Probably God has given us collectively all that we need in order to understand what we need to understand, but who among us, which single person, has all of that?

Give God the glory!

My post shows that he claimed to be God before his crucifixion and resurrection. John reveals that he was God even before he was born and became a man.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
John 1:1-3 ESV

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 1:14 ESV
Spirit became flesh?

Or, the spoken word of God was made flesh?

GINOLJC, to all.
ERROR again on your Part. I never explain Jesus was not the Son of Man. it's your lack of Knowledge as to who the Son of Man is, and not knowing the Son of God.... (smile). as a matter of Fact I Glorified our Lord as "GOD". and YES, JESUS is not the biological son of Mary.... JESUS has no mother nor father, and I'll say it again, Jesus has no NATURAL, BIOLOGICAL, mother or daddy. are we clear on that.

it is you who said Jesus is not the Son of Man, check my post ANYWHERE and point it out to me where I said Jesus is not the Son of Man .... well?

it you you who refuse to accept the truth that Jesus is both Lord and God, just ask Thomas..... (smile).

see truther, 1 Peter 1:10 & 11 just hit you in the backside .... didn't it. just as this one will too. 2 Peter 1:20 "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation." ... WHY apostle Peter?
2 Peter 1:21 "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost."

the same Holy Ghost which was IN, IN, IN, them as the apostle Peter said in 1 Peter 1:11 "Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow."

THE "SPIRIT OF CHRIST" IS THE HOLY SPIRIT. yes Jesus the Christ was in the prophets of old, testifying of his coming.

oh how easy the bible is when one KNOW and UNDERSTAND the TRUTH.

PICJAG
I will explain to you how Jesus, by his own definition, is the son of man, okay?

God created a sperm cell to mate with Mary's egg, thus her eqq was fertilized and Jesus was conceived.

Now, this made him the son of God and the son of man(Mary).

Just like you are the son of 2 people.

What an amazingly easy thing to understand.

But extremely difficult to those that think that God became human, and was originally implanted as a microscopic cell.

God never became a cell.

Many who deny the deity of Jesus say that he never claimed to be God. It is true that there is no record of Jesus ever saying the words, “I am God,” but many of the things he said were in face assertions of his deity.

For example, there is this statement in his Sermon on the Mount.

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Matthew 5:10-12 ESV

He equated being persecuted for righteousness’ sake for being persecuted for his sake. Only God, the source of all righteousness, could make such a claim. And what about this statement near the end of the sermon?

Not everyone who says to me, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, “Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?”And then will I declare to them, “I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.”
Matthew 7:21-23 ESV

In saying that he will decide who enters the kingdom he is claiming to be God, just as the Father is.

He claimed to have the authority to forgive sins.

And they came, bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men. And when they could not get near him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him, and when they had made an opening, they let down the bed on which the paralytic lay.

And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”

Now some of the scribes were sitting there, questioning in their hearts,“Why does this man speak like that? He is blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
Mark 2:3-7 ESV

The scribes were correct. Only God can forgive sins. Jesus was claiming to be God, and he backed up his claim by what he did next.

And immediately Jesus, perceiving in his spirit that they thus questioned within themselves, said to them, “Why do you question these things in your hearts? Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Rise, take up your bed and walk’? But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he said to the paralytic— “I say to you, rise, pick up your bed, and go home.”

And he rose and immediately picked up his bed and went out before them all, so that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, “We never saw anything like this!”
Mark 2:8-12 ESV

There was one time when Jesus plainly said that he was God.

“Your father Abraham rejoiced that he would see my day. He saw it and was glad.”

So the Jews said to him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?”

Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.”
John 8:56-58 ESV

To understand the significance of what Jesus said we must look at what God said to Moses in their first encounter.

Then Moses said to God, “If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ what shall I say to them?”

God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”

God also said to Moses, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is my name forever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations.” Exodus 3:13-15 ESV

Jesus was declaring that he was the God who spoke to Moses.

Jesus did make one statement which some say was a denial of his deity.

And a ruler asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.”
Luke 18:18,19 ESV

It sounds as if Jesus was telling the ruler he shouldn’t call him good because only God is good, but in fact he didn’t say the ruler was wrong in what he said. He was asking him if he understood. The conversation ended with Jesus again saying he was God.

When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”
Luke 18:22 ESV

The ruler had asked how to inherit eternal life; Jesus said that the way was to follow him.

When we read the gospels in English it might not always be clear that Jesus said he was God, but those who heard him had no trouble understanding.

But Jesus answered them, “My Father is working until now, and I am working.”

This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.
John 5:17,18 ESV

Very good read, thank you.

First, thanks for the reply, second, I agree, we all must get to know our heavenly Father, just as we did in knowing our earthly fathers. we learn as we GROW. and yes, God knows our Heart. that's why we are unders tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.

Galatians 4:1 "Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;"
Galatians 4:2 "But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father."
Galatians 4:3 "Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:"

as with all children, we all must grow up, some faster than other. but we all must be patience with one another. and TRUE, I agree with you on, "There are people who love God first, but simply cannot express such things clearly or correctly". TRUE, that's why we get to know him in, and at, our own pace. this is why he have given us his Spirit, and as Ephesians 4:11 states, "And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;"
Ephesians 4:12 "For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:"
Ephesians 4:13 "Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:"

all of us are in the same boat, WE "ALL" are LEARNING. there are some poster here on this site who have been gifted in certian area or topic of the Bible that I learn from. when I don't know something I listen ... and I Learn. if I have a question I ask, because ye have not because ye ask not. many poster here have a good working knowledge in certian area of the bible, and when they say something on those topics that I don't know about, as said I shut my mouth and LEARN from them.

just like with the apostles, that's why they are called "A post les", meaning each have "a", "Part" of the same Gospel. what the Lord gave James, he didn't give Jude, or what he gave Peter he didn't give to Paul to speak on, and so on,,,. as you said one might not KNOW all about God, (Who do?), as Peter declared, some of the things Paul spoke of was hard to understand. so no, just because someone don't have the understanding of another in a certian topic, that don't make them save and the other not... NO, hog wash, because the same person might KNOW something that the Lord gave them that he didn't give you. but when we all come together, we know more together that we did, "a" .... "part". for we know in part. this is why I like the fourm, I'm always learning something, (good or bad), that I didn't know before..... I'm GROWING...

so no, to anyone who might think this way, again I say no, Everything, and everyone has it own seasons. God measure you at your level. as with the talents one got two, another five, and another one, it's what you do with what you got. as the apostle said, are "all" apostles, or "all" teachers, no, but there are things in common that we all come into the knowledge of, hence the teaching ministry of Ephesians 4 ...... so over time we all grow .... into Christ. just be faithful in what he has given you, and when it's time to open one's eyes, he the Lord Jesus will do it, for he is the author and finisher of our faith, and no one else.

thanks my brother.

man oh man. lets take this one step at a time, I see you have no knowledge who the Son of Nam is, nor who the Son of God is.

#1. the Son of God is, God "shared", or the Offspring in, in, in, Flesh. for the Son of God is "Born",
#2. the Son of man is never "born", (Spirit/Diversified). the Son of God is flesh and blood, the Son of man is "spirit" from heaven.

so, since the Son of man came from heaven, he didn't come from Mary.... (smile). the Son of God came out of maty, not the Son of man. BINGO.

and no, God did not make any sperm cell... lol. did you not learn, or understand what "overshadow" means? I guess not. oh well.
Just like you are the son of 2 people
another ERROR on your part.. that's a NATURAL "son" which is flesh. but we're not in the flesh but in the Spirit. for "Son" is a title, and not a person. listen, 1 Timothy 1:2 "Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord." HOW WAS HE HIS "SON?" now this one, Titus 1:4 "To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour." same thing here, or this one, 1 Corinthians 4:15 "For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel."
did the apostle Paul use any SPERM or EGG to beget? did the gospel have sperm in it, (for the women?) or an egg in it, (for the men?). no, nor did Jesus use any of the such to conceive that flesh that was in Mary's womb. there is more than one way to conceive .... flesh, that's if you're God... but since you ain't, you cain't.

I believe without a doubt that God came in the flesh. and that he "shared" himself in that flesh.

PICJAG.

ERROR, in the Diversity, or as G243 allos states, the numerical difference, meaning ANOTHER. he the Lord Jesus as the Son, the Offspring is G2758 κενόω kenoo while in that flesh, hence the term "spirit", and not "Spirit" but the same in quality. as the diversity of himself, he is like... say again... "like" us. no power, so what was Diverse, and not G2758 κενόω kenoo annointed him in that flesh, by dwelling in him setting the example to us to follow. BINGO. now that's a whole topic by itself....

Oh, I see...God begat Jesus like Paul begat us?

Questions....was Jesus re-begotten through Mary?

Was Jesus not begotten through Mary, but only begotten some other way?

Mary was not Jesus' biological mother?

Why did God choose to start out in an ovary if it was not part of the begetting process?

Why did Jesus continuously call himself the son of man if he was not Mary's biological son?

Was Jesus misleading his disciples using that title during his ministry?

Did Jesus know all along that Mary was not his biological mother, but was justa passin' thru?

Did Mary get the wrong idea here?....

31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.

32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

Did Elizabeth think Mary was his biological mother here?...

43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

Does conception in a womb take more than a sperm cell?...

20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

None of those verses describe the Trinity. It appears that Protestants aren't sola scripture after all

Hi Cristo,
Just for the record, not all Protestants are Sola Scriptura. :) I suppose there would also be different definitions for Sola Scriptura too. lol.

Ye Im Sola Christ.

Joh_14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Yes mj, I too am Sola Scriptura but only for filtering bunk. I do believe God can and does work outside of His word...just not big on adding or taking from it.

GINOLJC, to all.
Oh, I see...God begat Jesus like Paul begat us?
first thanks for the reply, second, no you still don't see. God , the Lord Jesus, his body was prepared by him and for him... and was brought forth by a woman. is that too hard to understand?.

Questions....was Jesus re-begotten through Mary?
that's not a question, that's a deception of the devil. now if you want to know this, a woman "generated that flesh which was prepared by him and for him for nine months, and brought that flesh forth..... :)
Was Jesus not begotten through Mary, but only begotten some other way?
another deception by satan. listen to the scriptures,Galatians 4:4 "But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law," did you get that revelation? God sent forth his... "Son?", now watch this, God sent forth his "Spirit". did you see that? the Son is the "EQUAL" Spirit shared in flesh. the Spirit, God, himself in flesh as the title holder"Son" in diversified flesh ..... see you didn't get that, did you, it just flew over your head. .. oh well...
Why did God choose to start out in an ovary if it was not part of the begetting process?
another deception of the devil, again did you not READ, Luke 2:21 "And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb." not in the "ovaries" but in the WOMB. truther, are you really reading your bible?.
Mary was not Jesus' biological mother?
another deception on the evil one's part. how many times must we tell you, no, N..O, NO. Mary only birthed the flesh Jesus came in. she's only a surrogate mother to him by "BIRTH only.....
Why did Jesus continuously call himself the son of man if he was not Mary's biological son?
the same reason why he called Mary also .. his mother.. lol, ... "WOMAN". see, Son of Man is only an Identifying title. and here's why, Philippians 2:7 "But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:"
Philippians 2:8 "And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross." BINGO, he identified with man. WHY? Hebrews 2:16 "For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham."
Hebrews 2:17 "Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people." NOW GET THIS, next verse, Hebrews 2:18 "For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted." that's why he is called the Son of man because God as a man redeemed man and as a man gave himself for man.
Was Jesus misleading his disciples using that title during his ministry?
no, many knew he was not a biological "son", scripture, Luke 3:23 "And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli," it's right there in his genealogy.
Did Jesus know all along that Mary was not his biological mother, but was justa passin' thru?
let's see what he said, Luke 2:46 "And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions."
Luke 2:47 "And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers."
Luke 2:48 "And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing."
Luke 2:49 "And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?"
well what was he doing in the doctor office when his .. suppose father was a carpenter? ....... see, how.

LOL, my, oh my, as the Lord did, he turned the question around on them, so, "is the Child in Mary's womb is both women "LORD?". so Jesus was Elizabeth "Lord?". see the ingorance in the question.
Does conception in a womb take more than a sperm cell?...

20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
well that scripture just answered your question, do the Holy Ghost, who is Spirit have "sperm?".
the scriptures are clear, Romans 8:5 "For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit."
Romans 8:6 "For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace."
Romans 8:7 "Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: (OH THAT'S THAT ENMITY SPOKE OF IN GENESIS CHAPTER 3), for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be." (many who think that God was concieve with a sperm and an egg, is enmity against God).
Romans 8:8 "So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God."
