1 Corinthians 12:1 "Now about spiritual gifts, brothers I do not want you to be ignorant." To avoid being ignorant about the gift of tongues it is essential to understand chapters 12, 13, 14, and 15 of 1 Corinthians as a progressive teaching which starts by identifying the diversity of gifts within the unity of the body of Christ(12), then emphasises the futility of using gifts without having love(13), next comes instructions on using tongues while building up the church in an orderly and fitting manner(14), and the resurrection chapter(15) makes the points that firstly if Christ has not been raised our faith is futile, secondly that the spiritual body of a believer is raised in power, and thirdly that God gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. To avoid either using the gift of tongues ill-advisedly, or rejecting it as not for today,........within these four chapters a contextual framework is given to overcome any doubt or lack of understanding that may exist. I have the gift of tongues, and at times I am given interpretations of tongues which I use to let other hearers know the meaning of prophetic messages given in tongues. Tongues as a personal form of edification in the Holy Spirit are for private communication with God and interpretation is not necessarily an accompanying feature.(See Romans 8:26,27)

Yes I do speak in tongues. I have interpreted messages, and had my messages interpreted. Moses
