I dont really have a nice reply except this guys a nut trying to cause division within the body of christ, nothing he said in that video was even close to scriptural. The bible clearly tells us to go deeper into the word. Psalms 1:2, Psalms 119:16, Psalms 119:35, Psalms 119:24, Psalms 119:47, Psalms 119:70, Psalms 119:77, Psalms 119:92, Psalms 119:143 and Psalms 119:174.

God bless :)

I agree gumby this is the picture of whats wrong with religion today fast food feel good religious babble. Give us the easy stuff we dont care enough to bother with learning your Words and we wonder why God will allow a great delusion to come upon us ... Because we believe a lie ... and liars like this guy ...

Amos8:12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.

Psa 40:7 Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book [it is] written of me,

Isa 28:9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? [them that are] weaned from the milk, [and] drawn from the breasts.

Isa 28:10 For precept [must be] upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, [and] there a little

It's sad that this "pastor" has such a huge following. Can you imagine anyone sitting in front of him and gladly listening to such nonsense? I even hear some laughing in the background. It's truly disgusting.

Regarding Perry Noble:

I Look into his eyes and I see trouble.

I watch his body language and I am concerned.

I listen carefully and he says he wants more tithes.

I listen carefully and he says wants more worship.

I read carefully and he wants thousands more followers.

I look deep into his character and see a man who (subconsciously) feels he is being (worshiped) because of the thousands of people waving hands , singing for joy , and giving him money ..... all based on his "personality" as he builds "his church". This is a powerful feeling (for him). He has more people in his audience than Jesus had when he fed the five thousand .....

Many popular speakers and evangelists fall into this trap , often without even realizing it themselves , I believe Perry Noble does not realize what he is fueled by , success does that to people who have a popular following , whether on stage in the secular world , or from the religious pulpit .

The blame must also be shared by the thousands of people who subscribe to "feel good emotional Christianity" , their lives fall apart and their emotions get shattered when a couple of things go wrong in their lives.

This can be dangerous ground and it produces paper-thin faith.

I probably shouldn't resurrect this thread, but I did a search today and came across this post.

I'm not affiliated with Newspring and the only connection I have to them is that I went to a church leadership conference on the campus there in Anderson, SC where Perry spoke. I knew I'd heard the name before and now I remember it from this thread. I've listened to the guy's sermons lately and contrary to opinion, he preaches the Word. Any pastor that says get into it (the Bible) is preaching the right thing.

I have come to find much agreement with the entire talk that this was extracted from. See, the lesson of this conference (both the one I attended as well as the one in this video) is that there's not a whole lot of doing in Christianity. The excuses given are "going deep" and the famous line "I'm just not being fed" - amongst others out there. I can personally say that I've been on both sides of the equation, so I am speaking from experience. I've noticed, though, that quite a few times statements like the aforementioned lead to little or no church attendance and oftentimes going deep is reading some Psalms or prophecy and pretending to understand it. The crux of the message is not that we are not to go deep - if you actually listen to the guy beyond some soundbites, you know better - but that most don't put their money where their mouth is. Tithing is a form of this. Jesus talks about money in the New Testament right and left, because it's a powerful indicator of where the heart is set.

If he uses coarse language sometimes to get a point across - well the Bible references whores, bathroom humor, and the Apostle Paul drops a first century rendering of a cuss-word in Philippians 3:8 coincidentally talking about the same religious crap that Perry addresses in his talk.

As for the other comments, just watch some of the testimonials on the website about the journeys that some of the members there have gone through (both with and without Perry) and I'd hardly call those "feel-good." You'll see a man in his 30's dying of cancer to leave behind 3 kids and a wife. His last recorded message was praising God knowing he'd die any day. His wife talks about God getting her through it all after his death. Tell her it's feel-good. In another one, a guy is now best friends with the firefighter that fell asleep and ran head on into his wife's car killing her and their unborn children. You want to talk about God-inspired grace!? Those aren't easy, feel good issues, nobody could have brought that sort of thing together other than God.

Just wanted to share a recent post from the same blog: http://apprising.org/2011/03/31/your-support-will-be-appreciated/

I have no affiliation with NewSpring as well. However, I have heard Perry speak and listened to some of his pod cast sermons. I'm not trying to get into an argument with anyone or anything like that but maybe before we make assumptions about people we should listen to a full sermon. I understand that you still may have the same opinion and thats cool. You are entitled to your opinion. After seeing that video I went and watched the full lecture. If you watch the lecture you will see that what he is saying is that if you are a born again Christian it is not only the churches responsibility for your spiritual growth... it's yours. We have the tendency to go to church and say... well this music sucks and it's not working for me and pastor your sermons aren't connecting with me. We sometimes say church, you are not feeding me! But the thing is, its our job to feed ourselves. It's our job to tithe our 10%. Not to make Perry rich or the church rich. It's to give God back what is his. Like Hammer Stone said... What is the one thing that most people value the most? Their money and time! I do, probably hammer stone does, we probably all do! If all our money is going to our electronics and not giving God what is his then we know where our heart is. This is also true with time. You spend most of your time doing things that you enjoy and that activity is where your heart is most likely. This is something I have been guilty of, not spending enough time being a disciple. As a desciple we should serve others... spread the gospel...

Something that I've really been hit with lately and grasping the whole understanding of our judgment day. Born again Christians or not, we are all going to be judged. However, the ones of us who have accepted Jesus as our lord and savior will be judged for being a disciple and being a disciple means you tithe, spend time with Jesus daily, and you are a disciple. You don't rely on others to feed you, you feed yourself. Then you go out and feed those who haven't been fed and when they become a Christian the process repeats itself.

In this video Perry was telling these Pastors how to deal with people who are ticked off because they feel like its the churches job to feed them and they take no responsibility for their own spiritual growth. He is not saying that the church should not go deeper. He's letting the pastors know.... You are going to deal with these people and you can try to feed them every week. But you know what? It's not going to matter what you do for these people because nothing that you do will make them happy until they realize they have to try and feed themselves as well. We have to be willing to take the initiative and go deeper ourselves in order to get deeper. We can't just expect to show up only on Sundays at 11:00 and go deeper. It's an EVERYDAY thing and some we have to take responsibility for ourselves.

I just wanted to explain what I got from that full lecture... not just the snap shot

God Bless
