As usual, your response is charitable.
However - this poster appears to be a forum troll . . .
I don't know about "this poster". He has some strange ideas and I am uncertain what his purpose here is...

On the question of 66 or other number I have at least three hard bound Bibles containing what some have named the apocrypha [deuterocanonical] ... the Douay Rheims, the Kings James [1611 edition complete] and a Luther Bible. I have read those books in the past, but not for a very long time. But then again while I have not reduced the amount time I spend reading, it doesn't go as far as it once did, and often I cannot understand as well as I once did. That is the old man wearing out as we all do in time. I understand more today than I did as a young Catholic boy, but mainly I understand better how little I really understand...if you get my point.

I still believe strongly that God looks first at our hearts, rather than determining whether we bear this label or that one [Catholic, Methodist, Pentecostal, etc.]. What we do with whatever God has given us would, I believe, be His concern. For any man to presume that another man is lost to God because of his affiliation alone... or the lack thereof... with any church group on planet Earth is presumptuous indeed. The devil will work in the worst or the best of them because they all consist of fallible men. The fallibility is the weakness, to which a person must, I believe, admit before God before the person can be lifted to a higher place with God. A practicing Catholic can be lifted just as high as anyone else...

Most of the 8 different non-Catholic pastors under whom I have sat since 1976 were in some measure anti-Catholic. I listened to a lot of that and tried to take some of it in... assuming it was a necessary thing. But... I really did not know what I was doing. I guess most them [the pastors] very often did not either. My own experience with God as a Catholic made it impossible for me do what they wanted in that respect, but I did not know why. Now I do, but few people want to hear that. They mostly want me to jump on their band wagon.

Good talking with you!

Yes, those are the books that God inspired. When the Old Testament was translated into Greek some other books were added. Catholics accept these extra books a being inspired, but Jesus and the apostles never referred to them or quoted from them.

As I stated before - I may disagree with you sometimes - but I can never deny that your intent appears always to be charitable.
Bless you, brother.

Actually - that is false.

Not only were the Deuterocanonical Books a part of the OPEN Jewish Canon before and during the life of Christ - they are referenced some 200 times in the New Testament. Here are a few examples . . .
Eph. 6:13-17 - in fact, the whole discussion of armor, helmet, breastplate, sword, shield follows Wis. 5:17-20.
Heb 11:35 - Paul teaches about the martyrdom of the mother and her sons described in 2 Macc. 7:1-42.
1 Peter 1:6-7 - Peter teaches about testing faith by purgatorial fire as described in Wisdom 3:5-6 and Sirach 2:5.
Matt. 7:12 - Jesus' golden rule "do unto others" is the converse of Tobit 4:15 - what you hate, do not do to others.

As for WHEN the Deuterocanonicals were ejected from Scripture - that's an interesting bit of history . . .

The Septuagint (Greek OT) was translated by 70 JEWISH (NOT Catholic) Scholars - about 200 years before the birth of Christ.
There were 7 Books that were part of the OPEN Jewish Canon (Baruch, Sirach, Wisdom, Tobit, Judith, 1 & 2 Maccabees) along with portions of Daniel and Esther. This is the Canon of Scripture that Jesus and the NT writers studied from

AFTER Jesus died, rose and ascended to Heaven - the Apostles started their mission. Around the years 70 AD, Jerusalem was sacked by the Romans and the Temple was destroyed. SOME rabbis began to have second thoughts about the Deuterocanonical Books because of their "Hellenistic" influence in the Diaspora (Dispersed Jews). Around the year 135, during the 2nd Jewish Revolt - a rabbi named Akiva declared TWO things:
a. The Deuterocanonical Books needed to be REMOVED from the OPEN Canon - and the canon closed.
b. A man named Simon Bar Kokhba was the "real" messiah. Of course, he turned out to be a false messiah, making Akiva a false prophet.

SO - Protestants adhere to a POST-Christ, POST-Temple OT Canon that was determined by a FALSE Prophet who declared a FALSE Christ.

Simply not true:

Matthew 6:19-20 – “store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal.” James 5:3 – Your gold and silver have rusted, and their rust will be evidence against you, and it will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up treasure for the last days.
Sirach 29:10-11 – Lose your silver for the sake of a brother or a friend, and do not let it rust under a stone and be lost. Lay up your treasure according to the commandments of the Most High, and it will profit you more than gold.

Matthew 7:16,20 – “you will know them by their fruits”
Sirach 27:6 – Its fruit discloses the cultivation of a tree.

Matthew 16:18 – “And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.”
Wisdom 16:13 – For you have power over life and death; you lead mortals down to the gates of Hades and back again. (It should be mentioned that the Hebrew references to the gates of Sheol in Job 38:17 and Isaiah 38:10 is translated to “gates of Hades” in the Septuagint.)

Matthew 27:43 – if He is God’s Son, let God deliver him from His adversaries
Wisdom 2:18 – if the righteous man is God’s child, he will help him, and will deliver him from the hand of his adversaries

Mark 9:48 – it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and to be thrown into hell where their worm never dies, and the fire is never quenched.
Judith 16:17 – The Lord Almighty will take vengeance on them in the day of judgment; he will send fire and worms into their flesh; they shall weep in pain forever.

Luke 1:52 – He has brought down the powerful from their thrones, and lifted up the lowly;
Sirach 10:14 – The Lord overthrows the thrones of rulers, and enthrones the lowly in their place.

Acts 1:7 – He replied, “It is not for you to know the times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority. 1 Thessalonians 5:1 – Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers and sisters, you do not need to have anything written to you.
Wisdom 8:8 – she (wisdom) has foreknowledge of signs and wonders and of the outcome of seasons and times.

John 6:35-59 – Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.
Sirach 24:21 – Those who eat of me (wisdom) will hunger for more, and those who drink of me will thirst for more.

John 10:22 – At that time the festival of the Dedication took place in Jerusalem. It was winter …. (festival not in OT)
1 Maccabees 4:59 – Then Judas and his brothers and all the assembly of Israel determined that every year at that season the days of dedication of the altar should be observed with joy and gladness for eight days, beginning with the twenty-fifth day of the month of Chislev.

Acts 17:29 – Since we are God’s offspring, we ought not to think that the deity is like gold, or silver, or stone, an image formed by the art and imagination of mortals. (A couple OT passages touch on this theme but nothing similar to Wisdom 13:10.)
Wisdom 13:10 – But miserable, with their hopes set on dead things, are those who give the name “gods” to the works of human hands, gold and silver fashioned with skill, and likenesses of animals, or a useless stone, the work of an ancient hand.

See @BreadOfLife post #10 showing how you are historically not correct either.

Actually come to think of it I don't remember ever getting a reply from this bloke... Troll hey...
I had some conversations with him quite some time ago. He has some limitations in the English language but there is something else involved here in his walk with God... or the lack thereof.
